    What to Expect
Visit: Museum of Vancouver, 1100 Chestnut St at Vanier Park, Vancouver, British Columbia V6J 3J9 Canada

The artifacts in the Museum of Vancouver's collection have been accumulating for over one hundred years. The collection houses important historical, ethnographic, archaeological, Asian studies, and natural history objects. When the Art, Historical and Scientific Association (the original MOV) first formed in 1894, the goal was to showcase the curiosities of the world for the enlightenment of Vancouverites. While building and refining these collections, and at the same time developing a Vancouver history collection, the museum continued on this broad collecting path.

In 2009, the MOV underwent a transformational process that has resulted in a new direction and vision for the organization. Now our primary goal is to showcase Vancouver to the world and we are focusing our collection development accordingly. New acquisitions centre on reflecting the Vancouver story, from major directional shifts in communities to those items that create everyday memories.

My wife and I spent a good 3 hours going through the many exhibits. The display on Chinese pottery as well as the various First Nations exhibits were very interesting. What caught my interest was the focus on Hippies in the Vancouver in the 1960's display. I had told my wife

Hello Ed! Thank you for leaving us a review. Your comments on the nostalgia that the exhibitions had brought you are amazing and we are so happy and proud to have connected with you through the civic objects and artefacts that our museum stewards. Neon Vancouver Ugly Vancouver is popular across all generations of Vancouver locals, both those who remember and those who can only imagine what the city looked like at one point in history. Hope to have you wandering the galleries and memories again soon! With appreciation, Lorenzo Schober - Communications and Marketing Manager, Museum of Vancouver

Hello and thank you for taking some time to leave us this review today. I am so happy to hear that you enjoyed the cultural and indigenous exhibitions currently on display at MOV. We pride ourselves, as a museum and cultural space, in placing reconciliation at the forefront of our mandates and priorities. It is great to hear that you appreciated and took time express your thoughts regarding our newest exhibition, There is Truth Here, which focuses on artworks done by children who had attended residential schools across Canada. Thank you for your comments on price points as well. We are aware that this can be a barrier for people to come and experience the collection and exhibitions and are offering pay-by-donation nights at least once a month, with more to come! We hope to see you back at MOV in the future. With appreciation, Lorenzo Schober - Communications and Marketing Manager, Museum of Vancouver
