#39 of 235 Outdoor Activities in Vancouver
- 779lainec00It went well until the bus departed from a stop two minutes early so we missed it!All was going well until the second time we got off. We knew exactly when the bus would depart so we timed our activities accordingly. Upon returning to the bus, we were waiting for a green light with the bus across the street when it departed 2 minutes BEFORE the scheduled departure time. We couldn't run across the busy street on a red light. Why would it leave EARLY??? We took a cab to try to catch up with ithe bus but never did. We ended up walking quite a distance to get where we wanted to be. It was very disappointing.
- EKC198300A great tour with Simon! We had a great time doing the Hop On Hop Off tour with Simon! He was exceptional-- we learned so much from him and he was very helpful. We hope to do this again sometime. I would highly recommend this as a great way to start to see what Vancouver has to offer.
- T8064ZTtinag00Not worth itGot the Hop on Hop Off + Capilano tour but was only able to use the Capilano ticket. Wasted so much time waiting for the Hop on Hop Off bus as the live map wasn't too reliable. At one instance we directly asked the driver what time it would return but we waited 30 minutes together with 2 other groups who all eventually left. So in effect we wasted 120CAD as we never got to use the hop on hop off bus plus spent more on Uber. The information booth on Canada place is closed for the whole month of November so there was no one to talk to, everything is just transacted online and I have not received a reply from the complaint I sent.
- Z5285VJ_00Awful experience.Awful experience. A bus that is actually a school bus from the 1950’s! Noisy, you weren’t sure it would last long. The company has an app to track the buses that are coming. Rarely worked properly. We took ours outside Pinnacle Hotel downtown, was told to rush because it is coming and it came 40 minutes later! We hopped off at Stanley Park and when we decided to hop on again there was no bus nowhere. We waited for 30 minutes along with a family that was already waiting there for 50 minutes! In the cold weather! We finally took a local bus at the park which drove us downtown Vancouver. We have used hop on hop off buses before in London, Dublin and New York and the buses were beautiful, on time and the next bus was always just a few minutes away. Do yourself a favour and avoid it.
- Treker65000Great Location and ExperienceI am afraid of heights but was able to enjoy myself here. I was very hesitant to visit because of my fears but I felt safe, though a little nervous when people would rock the bridge sideways. After my experience here I felt as though I had chipped away a bit at my fear. It was beautiful, especially enjoyed the tree top suspended pathway and the cliff walk.
- Z1886BKbrettw00Hop on hop offThe bus was realy well timed and our driver Simon was excellent he was very personable and friendly and also very knowledgeable bus was always on time which made everything easy
- srX8390ZY00Hop On Hop OffThe first hop on hop off bus we caught at the Vancouver Public Library was with Tom as our guide and Tony as our driver. They were both exceptional. Tom's commentary was by far the best that we had all day and we hopped on and off several times.
- jenniferbP6638SS00Average tour if VancouverThe bus took a long time to arrive. We waited 40 minutes at the stop for the next bus. The first older bus driver was informative and helpful. The second you get bus driver just played a digital tour over the phone. Due to the Remembrance Day activities, two stops were not included in the tour.
- J7925WKlorit00A Great Guided TourAbsolutely loved the tour with Mary as our guide! It was our first trip to Vancouver, and the guided tour was both informative and fun.
- Martin-nitraM00Safe, fun and convenient on a rainy dayMany thanks to our driver DAN for taking us safely criss cross through Vancouver, and entertaining us with interesting anecdotes and facts along the route.
- ellcanesk00experience"The Butchart Gardens is a 119-year-old internationally-renowned 55-acre display garden located in Brentwood Bay, British Columbia. Created by Jennie Butchart, and still privately owned and operated by the family, The Gardens was designated a National Historic Site of Canada, in 2004 for its one hundredth birthday .These gardens are a must-visit! They are absolutely stunning in layout, variety, plant species and colour! There is a map with arrows indicating a suggested route, as well as a best route to avoid stairs. If time does not allow you to view all of the garden areas, make sure to see the Sunken Garden! Plants are unlabelled to keep the feel of a private garden, however, a detailed "Flower and Plant Guide" is provided, should you wish to identify popular flowers and plants. Wear walking shoes as the gardens are extensive, especially if you want to see them all, right across to Butchart Cove. There are a number of amenities available - toilets, coffee shop, Gelateria, Restaurants, visitor centre and gift store.
- tecaporto00Nice experience !!The drivers was fantastic , specially Dan!! Good city view and the app shows where the bus was!! Nice experience. Recommend it!!
- christinepY4588SO00Convenient way to see VancouverGood way to get an overview of the city. Since it rains a lot here it helps that the bus has a roof for rainy days.
- Nina79700Fun, Fun, Fun in Vancouver BC!I had heard wonderful things about the City of Vancouver BC…and all that was made better by the wonderful tour guided by the lovely Lynn. So much info was shared by Lynn that we made absolutely sure that we hopped back on her bus heading home!!! Thanks Lynn!!!
- elizabethmS1308GO00Everything awesome! but no so baby friendlyEverything was great! The only failure that I´ve found is that strollers are not allowed and it´s very complicated with two babies around! We were notified about it previously, but It´s still hard to carry two babies when you have back problems.

Very disappointed in this tour
Vinny the guide was the most condescending, poorly informed guide we have come across
He talked rubbish and just made up stories as he went along - we are not as dumb as you think and don’t need to be fed made up stories just for something to say. The incessant woohoo noises and confabulation made for a very long day.
To top it off we were told to get back to the bus at 3 pm to head off at whistler but then whilst waiting for a couple who had been told to join us in that spot at 4pm he actually asked us all to get off the bus and wait the extra time for them . - we all refused so he headed the bus downtown a small lake to fill in time then came ba k
If we hadn’t done other tours with this company would not recommend but I do believe this was rather guide not the company’s fault. We do thank Alan the driver

While this was a long day, it was a great long day. Our guide, Vinny the Gorgeous, was AMAZING and so much fun. He was incredibly knowledgeable about any and everything and kept a running narrative while we travelled between stops. He provided excellent tips and suggestions for dining and shopping, and the best places for photos. Our driver, Alan, navigated the roads, both city and mountain with aplom, and we enjoyed the drive.
The gondola was surprisingly not scary (for me, a person who is not a fan of heights), and the views from the top are unparalleled. Simply stunning.
Whistler is so well laid out and is a great village. With all the mountain bikers, it was nearly as busy as winter, but didn't feel packed or unnavicable.
There were plenty of restrooms everywhere we went and places to rest, if needed.
Vinny kept us moving and on time, but we never felt rushed. The timing for each stop made sense.
But Vinny. Vinny made the tour. If you are lucky enough to have him as your guide, ask him about his flying Lamborghini and 17 mansions. ;)

Very kind and funny tour guide Nigel! The bus driver Max was also a trooper, on his first day on the job we had a broken fan belt so the bus needed to pull over and at one point wait for a new part to be delivered. The staff were very upfront about it and modified our stops - we still came home on time and even got to see a cove that we normally don’t stop in!
The tour bus will pick you up at your hotel if you’re within Downtown Vancouver; but if you’re in an AirBNB or a hotel not listed on their pickup zones, you may meet at the front of the convention center. Every detail is well explained for how to arrive, how long the tour is, and where the stops will be when you buy the ticket.
The drive is scenic and excellent. There’s plenty of pitstops for the long drive up to Whistler where you can buy food and use the washroom. Overall I highly recommend this tour as an easy way to see the mountains of Vancouver.
PRO TIP: sit on the left side of the bus on the way up, the right side on the way down. The best car views will be at window seats for both.

We are on a family vacation from Ontario with 8 of us in total. It was gorgeous weather the day we went to Whistler. I was disappointed when our little bus pulled up in front of our hotel. It had no bathroom but I quickly realized a bathroom was not needed because of the frequent stops it makes. However ,it is not a comfortable ride as we felt every bump in the road.
Our driver and guide ,Leslie , actually made the trip as successful as it was. He is a wealth of information and gave a running commentary on everything from Vancouvers history and culture to Canadas form of government. He pointed out many geological interests and was funny and entertaining. He even went as far as to take family photos for us and we felt he truly wanted us to enjoy the experience. Many thanks ,Leslie.
This is a fabulous trip to showcase the beauty of the mountains and sea on the awesome Sea to Sky highway.
Thanks West Coast Sightseeing.

The Whistler tour was an absolute highlight of our trip, and especially of our time in Vancouver. Our guide Leslie was knowledgeable, helpful and funny - keeping everything on track and a font of amazing information not just about our the locations we were seeing, but Vancouver generally. It was great value for money, the views were spectacular - especially Howe Sound and Whistler, and can't recommend travelling in fall enough. Definitely put this tour on your list!

Everything went like a well conducted orchestra from booking, hotel pickup, the day's activities and drop-off. Kevin was indefatigable in making everything enjoyable despite a foggy, rainy day where we couldn't even see a mountain till late in the day. He kept us entertained, informed and comfortable. Thanks

As a first-time visitor to Vancouver, I wanted to make the most of my quick trip! I wanted to make sure I could not only explore the city but also the great outdoors nearby without having to rent a car. Nigel was an incredible tour guide as we weaved through Squamish & Whistler to learn the history of the area, see breathtaking views, and build community with the rest of the tour group. Nigel was so great in taking us over to the Olympic rings, posing folks for fun photo opportunities, and cracking jokes. It was a really fun afternoon - I would highly recommend anyone doing this tour!

It was a beautiful day! Our driver from Kevin from Grayline was excellent. He was a very informative, he has dead-pan humour, & he covered more than what was required. The bear hunt at Catlican Valley was a big big bonus as we saw 6-7 bears up close! On top of Shannon falls, Sea to Sky Gondala, Whistler (where he pointed out different stuff we could do) , detour to Catlican Valley, stop by Alexander falls, Porteau Cove etc… we were just so blessed to have him as our guide! Jason took us back to our hotel at Georgian court.. excellent driver with an excellent service!!! Thank you!

Excellent tour company, did Whistler tour with Alex McDougall on Saturday 16 April , brilliant tour guide/driver. He was like the school teacher you wish you'd had and his commentary was brilliant. At the several stops we made, he took personal ownership to ensure all 30 of us knew what was going on etc. The coach had big clean windows so you had a good view and the drive covered some scenic roads. Richard in their customer service is also a great chap and helpful when I rang for something. Would definitely recommend.

100% recommend this trip! Our guide, Nigel, and our driver, Alan, were both fantastic. Really funny, knowledgable, organised and friendly. We got pretty lucky with the smoke from the wildfires, there was still a lot but it didn’t really spoil the views. Nigel did make some great suggestions on what to do for the free time in Whistler but I would also recommend doing some research before you go. The Gondola is absolutely huge and Shannon falls is beautiful! The only down side to this trip was the staff at El furniture warehouse (restaurant in Whistler). Food there is very affordable but I’m not sure if my disappointing service was really worth it. It does have some great reviews though, maybe I just caught them on a bad day. Overall, it’s a wonderful way to spend your day. Thank you Nigel and Allan for a wonderful experience and a safe journey!

We are traveling next week with kids aged 10 and 9. I had a question, sometimes my kids are a little afraid of heights, is there an option of not to sit on the gondola ride? If yes what are the other activities they can do at the point where the tour stops for the gondola ride.

There are some walking paths, a gift shop & some pop up caravans selling icecream etc. I think obviously the highlight is going on Gondola ...maybe they could sit between you & be in middle to feel safer? 😊

What time do you arrive in whistler thinking of booking seaplane trip trying to work out if we would have enough time

When we did the tour, we got on the bus to head out around 8am, so you would not have time to do the plane tour first, and then by end of the tour day would be getting close to dinner time. It’s a long full day! I wouldn’t book anything else that day! But it’s a good tour with several stops.

Hi
Cannot remember exactly but I know that it was a full day trip to Whistler. We really enjoyed the experience especially the trip to the top to see the Olympic rings. The cost to the top was extra but well worth it.
Hi there, I’m thinking about booking for this next week. Was wondering if the time in whistler village would be sufficient to see the snow walls and how one could go about doing that? Thank you.

No snow at the highest point that the Gondola goes to. Not cold either but that depends what you are used to.
