About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- joannadA255TU0 contributionsExperience of a lifetime! This tour was AMAZING! Even though January isn't the best time, we had the most astonishing luck: orcas to the left and right of the boat, a humpback whale that spent about an hour circling the boat and did several dives and a full breach for us, a huge group of adult bald eagles, plus harbor porpoises, harbor seals, and both California and Stellar sea lions. The guides were informative and friendly, the captain was sure-handed, the on-board photographers captured some incredibly gorgeous photographs, and the boat was comfortable and cozy, even on a really cold day. Cannot recommend this highly enough!Written January 22, 2025
- Lorie W0 contributionsDec 31 wonderful way to end the yearThe highlight of 2024, what a great way to end the year , seeing the eagles, Biggs killer whales, humpback whales , sea lions and seals. The crew Captain Joe, Jo-Anne, Tom and Val were gracious hosts and shared so much knowledge about the area, sea life and ecosystem. Seeing the whales was surreal. The sheer size and grace the humpback whales had was so majestic . Something I will always be grateful for. nanaskomtin (Cree for “I am grateful”)Written January 21, 2025
- Extraordinary7596600 contributionsWe can't wait to go again! The four of us understood that luck would play a part in what we were able to see, especially in midwinter, but the expertise of Captain Joe and the enthusiasm and knowledge of Sam and Tom, our guides, were exceptional. We were told before the cruise began what we might see at this time of year, and we were lucky enough to see everything on the list: orcas, a humpback whale, harbour porpoise, sealions (both California and stellar), harbour seals, and bald eagles, as well as many seabirds. To our great good fortune and appreciation, the humpback breached right in front of the boat, and circled around for a considerable time. Nothing felt rushed: we were guided on how to observe, and were able to take the time to enjoy the experience. All our questions were answered expertly. We agreed that it was an amazing experience. I have been on one whale-watching cruise previously (not in Victoria) and this one was superior in every way.Written January 21, 2025
- Ricardo V0 contributionsWonderful overallWonderful experience. We were able to watch killer whales and other incredible animals. My family and I enjoyed very muchWritten January 5, 2025
- Connector5531840 contributionsMagical Experience!Words cannot describe how magical this experience was for our family. We went on a tour with Eagle Wing on December 28th with the expectations of "hopefully" we would see some whales since it was off peak season. We left with an experience that is one for the books. We saw over 30+ killer whales (T-party) including several babies and 4 generations of a family. We also saw sea lions and bald eagles. You could tell the crew loves doing what they are doing. They are so informative and respectful of the animals in their natural environment. Thank you Captain Jeff, Tom, Carol, Selena, Val, and Caio for the experience of a lifetime!!Written January 5, 2025
- Nícia Daniela M0 contributions"Incredible Wildlife Experience with a Fantastic Crew!"We had an incredible experience on the boat tour watching orcas and other marine wildlife! A special thanks to Selena, who convinced us to join the tour—she truly didn’t disappoint. We were lucky to see orcas, including a baby, sea lions, and other animals up close. The rest of the crew (Carol, Jeff, and Clint) were amazing as well, ensuring we had a safe and memorable trip. We highly recommend this company; they operate with sustainable values, which we greatly appreciated. Thank you for such a wonderful adventureWritten January 4, 2025
- Chicken B0 contributionsGreat tour! Orcas up closeI did a 3 hours whale watching together with my son. The tour was very well organized, great and very friendly crew and most important of all they really know the whales and managed to bring us real close to a large group of Orcas. Was a fantastic experience! I also love that they had a professional photographer on board and shared the photos for free via Email and a download link. If I ever come to Victoria again I will book this tour again.Written January 4, 2025
- robinrZ5945OA0 contributionsEducation, conservation, and fun - Eagle Wing gave us an amazing tour!My family of five (parents and kids aged 14, 18, 21) went on a tour with Eagle Wing on Dec. 30. We were blown away by the professionalism and conscientiousness of the company. The onboard naturalist, Carol, was extremely knowledgeable about the whales and other organisms in the ecosystem - and was super friendly and approachable as well. The crew maintained a respectful distance from the animals and let them come to us on their own terms. We were rewarded with the attention of two curious humpbacks, who spent over half an hour repeatedly surfacing on one side of the boat and then the other. All of us were utterly rapt and felt so lucky to have this close encounter! We later saw three more humpbacks, as well as countless sea lions and Harbour Seals - plus a bald eagle that flew right overhead. We learned so much about the ecology of the Salish Sea and had an amazing time. The boat itself was very comfortable, with clean bathrooms, comfortable benches, and toys and books for kids and adults to peruse. I 100% recommend this tour to visitors and residents alike. We look forward to going again in the summertime!Written January 1, 2025
- Tourist413303721660 contributionsBest whale watch everWow this was THE best whale watch ever. We went in December, which is off peak season, but still saw about 30 orcas. We started by coasting past Trial Island to see the California Sea Lions, Stellaris Sea Lions, and Harbor Seals, then went out a bit more and saw multiple pods of orcas! The staff were friendly, intelligent, informative, and most importantly, told the other guests to squish together so everyone could see. The Capitan didn't peace out while I was trying to take pictures (which has happened to me on other tours). And they clearly loved and respected the wildlife. 10/10 would visit again. Thanks Jeff, Selena, Tom, and Caio for a great trip!Written December 30, 2024
- danh5270 contributionsAmazing December outing with Eagle WingAmazing trip where we saw sea lions, seals and bald eagles as well as a family of killer whales. These were hunting seals and came right up under the boat for a close up view. All of the staff at every level of the operation including Clint and Selena and Captain Jeff running the boat and Carol giving excellent information about the wildlife and how best to spot them. I have never been out on the boats in December but would highly recommend, it might be a bit chillier but also far less boats out as well, we were the only boat in the vicinity of the killer whale family.Written December 29, 2024

- P540RX_0 contributionsExtremely recommendedThank you very much for amazing experience. The whole team was very professional, Izzy gave a lot of information about wild life and whales, she is very informative. Great thank you to photographers for capturing whales and sharing these photos. I give this tour 1000% from 100%. I would definitely do it again. Great thank you for this unbelievable experience.Written December 18, 2024
- Saffi N0 contributionsFantastic experienceExcellent tour guides! Really informative and interesting learning about whales. Lily and Tilli were incredibly passionate about marine life and made the tour really fun! The boat was lovely and the captain optimised the position of the boat to enhance viewing of the whales and marine life. It was great receiving complimentary professional photos of the animals see on the tour, free of charge. Would highly recommend this tour. My only feedback moving forward is that it was very cold doing this tour in December. It was beautiful, clear and sunny on the day and the team kindly had spare hats and gloves for guests, however, it would be helpful next time of the tour information gave an average temperature for when out on the sea for that time of year do guests no to dress warmer. The hat, gloves, jumper etc thar I wore was not quite enough, I feel I could have done with having snow trousers, snow gloves and a balaclava etc. Otherwise, great tour! Thank you.Written December 11, 2024
- 655Jay0 contributionsDream trip!We took the tour on 23rd September. Our tour guide was Nathalie, our boat captain Trevor. Nathalie was very well informed, keeping us constantly updated during the tour. Trevor went out of his way to take us to the best spots to see wildlife. We saw numerous birds, sea-lions, otters, humpbacks and orcas, following an orca pod for miles. It was amazing, the trip of a lifetime, well organised, well equipped and well led - a huge thank you to Nathalie and Trevor for making it an incredible experience! Thank you also to the shore based team for their part in making the tour possible.Written December 5, 2024

Incredible! From the moment of booking to stepping off the boat, the team was so kind and knowledgable. As a result of COVID, things were a little different but I don't think they could have done anything better. They provided cool whale masks to wear at all times, made sure people were using hand sanitizer before stepping onto the boat, and ensured that the correct social distancing procedures were being followed. The captain and the guide were so amazing! They were energetic and were probably even more excited to see whales than some people on the boat. At one point the captain was jumping up and down at the sight of a humpback! They were constantly checking up on us - making sure that we were comfortable and when someone did feel seasick the guide tried everything he could do to make sure they were okay. The crew could answer any question we had and told us so many cool facts. The only critique I have is if the crew members on board who had a professional camera could post them somewhere so that we can share with our family and friends a better view of what we saw (besides a grainy cellphone video). Regardless, if you want to see some whales (we saw 8 humpbacks on our tour) and enjoy the crew, the environment, and feel safe Eagle Wing is the way to go!

Brett and Tom were fantastic and extremely knowledgeable. Although we didn’t get to see Orcas - that is nature for you(!!!) we saw up to 100 humpbacks and it was a once in a lifetime experience. The enthusiasm of Brett and Tom was fantastic - it rubbed off on everyone and their emotion when talking about the successful conservation story around humpbacks in the area was inspiring. We saw other wildlife and they had invaluable knowledge on everything we saw. All of the team were very friendly. The boat was comfortable. If we had gone with other tours we wouldn’t have been able to experience being surrounded by Humpbacks - something I will never forget!

Good afternoon CharlotteB4537,
We're so happy to hear you were able to take advantage of the spectacular sightings of what we like to call "Humpback Land" — it's an amazing place to visit at this time of year! The ride out is always an amazing trip as well. You had an amazing team to introduce you to the wonders of the Salish Sea, and we're glad you were able to take advantage of their passion and knowledge to learn all about the area and the animals you were visiting! We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with us, and we hope to see you again the next time you visit Victoria!

Eagle wing went above and beyond to ensure we had the best possible experience! We ended up seeing two pods of Orcas meeting up, with displays which included jumping out of the water, tail an fin slapping and generally just playing around. It was truly incredible! Our crew then extended our trip to bring us to see two humpback whales with a calf. I cannot recommend them highly enough!

After a couple year hiatus, I booked 4 consecutive days with Eagle Wing to get on the water and appreciate some wildlife viewing.
Can't offer enough compliments for this amazing company. The last tour on this trip was #9 (with Eagle Wing) so I'm a fan of what they do. This company is crazy consistent when it comes to:
1. Taking care of their customers - always make sure you enjoy the trip
2. Respecting the wildlife - always cut the engine and keep proper distance to protect the animals/mammals
2. EDUCATING the crowd on conservation/preservation/wildlife facts/trivia
3. Keeping everyone safe while on the boat and viewing the wildlife
3. Covering a LOT of distance to secure prime viewing locations
Whether the water is super choppy or smooth as glass, the riding experience is always fun. We viewed Orcas, Humpbacks, Pinnipeds and sea birds all four days. And there's always a chance to meet other folks who are traveling from other parts of the world (added bonus).
Huge shoutouts to crew: Captain's Russ/Rod, Brett, Amber, Kristina, Derek, Crystelle, Ryleigh, the check-in crew and folks working out of the public eye. THANK YOU.
Already looking forward to booking the next round of tours

Last week we, a group of 20 Dutch tourists, went on a whale safari with Eagle Wing Tours. We were lucky enough to see multiple killer whale families, several humpback whales and many seals. Izzy and captain Trevvor gave us alot of information about the whales and answered all of our questions. Their love and dedication for these animals shows and their enthusiasm is contagious. We would highly recommend doing a whale watching tour with Eagle Wing Tours!

This was our 4th whale watching tour with Eagle Wing. Eagle Wing far better than Prince if Wales (we went with them once and didn’t see any whales at all!) Eagle Wing has the best guides and the fastest, smoothest boats with the longest range so you can see more whales. And did we ever see whales! Humpback whales right beside the boat and swimming right under the boat! The whales came up and looked at us and they were so close we could have touched them. Incredible! And we could hear them communicating with each other because Eagle Wing had an underwater microphone to broadcast the whales’ calls. Amazing! And we saw orcas, sea lions, seals, very rare brown pelicans, and a walrus, all on one trip! It was the best whale watching tour we’ve ever been on! Worth every penny! Can’t wait to go again!

Good morning charmaineg897,
Wow, what a spectacular tour! We are so fortunate when the whales decide to come to us and check out our shut-down vessel. It certainly doesn't happen every day! I'm sure this will be an experience you will remember for a long time! This is just one of the reasons we love what we do—you never know what will happen out there. Every tour is different out on the Salish Sea! We appreciate you taking the time to review your tour, and we look forward to seeing you again soon!

You had an amazing team to introduce you to the wonders of the Salish Sea. We're very happy to hear you were able to see and learn about not one, but two different species of whale! Our semi-covered catamaran is a fabulous option at this time of year, with plenty of outdoor seating (dress warmly!) as well as a warm cabin if you prefer to ride in comfort and luxury. I highly recommend this tour and company. We saw a Humpback whale, then a pod of playful Orcas, and then another two Humpback whales. The crew were extremely knowledgeable, friendly and approachable. They were very respectful of the whales, keeping the appropriate distances away. The captain turned the boat so we weren’t being blinded by the setting sun. The boat (4 Ever Wild) was comfortable and big enough for everyone to be able to see the whales. Great experience!

The best experience! This company is not only incredibly knowledgeable but are very cautious of the well being of these animals and advocate for them. We went out twice and wouldn’t be against going for a third time we enjoyed it so much, definitely the highlight of our trip. All staff share a genuine interest in the wildlife and it shows.
Best advice is to pack layers if you want to stay on outside of boat and avoid bringing anything extra for possibility of flying off boat. There is a covered area on larger boat but suggest packing for the possibility of rain as seats fill up quick in covered area.
Shoutout to Eagle Wing for providing the best overall tour experience. Tom and Derek are the best!!
