      A fabulous wildlife tour.
What a fabulous tour......from start to finish it was amazing. We saw so much wildlife.....humpback whales, orcas, eagles, seals, and of course grizzly bears......5 of them.....and the important thing was that they were in their own habitat. Although the bears were really close at times we felt totally safe with our guide Stewert. Captain John and Zoe were great on the boat too. We had a delicious lunch and snacks too. The tour totally fulfilled all our dreams and expectations....I can't recommend it enough. Thank you.

      Amazing!
The boat captain (Captain John), naturalist(Zoey), and native guide(Cheyenne) were all fantastic. Very friendly and knowledgeable. They get you up close and personal, but in a safe manner. We saw orcas, humpback whales, grizzlies, sea lions, and bald eagles.

A Day We Will Never Forget!
We did the full day tour to Bute, & had a truly wonderful time. It was a cool & cloudy day, & we did get a bit chilly on the upper deck for the outward journey (even though thought we had layered up sufficiently & were given a cosy blanket to snuggle under) But that was our choice - we could have gone inside, & as the boat stopped every time any wildlife was spotted so anyone who was inside keeping warm could easily come outside for a better view (as we did on our return journey) The Captain & his 1st Mate were very friendly & knowledgeable, as were the Homalco guides once we reached the mainland viewing areas. We were fortunate to see dolphins, porpoises, sea lions, a humpback & 4 orca from the boat - but, of course, the highlight was the bear viewing. We were able to observe one young male catching & eating salmon for what seem like ages - at one point so close that we could hear him crunching the bones! A real heart stopping experience that we will never forget! We also saw a mother & her 2 cubs, plus another solo male, for shorter periods of time & at greater distances, as well as a herd of Elk, 2 Bald eagles (an adult & a juvenile) a merganser duck, & a pair of Turkey Vultures. Lunch (served at the picnic tables on the Orford River dock) was so plentiful that we didn't have time to eat it all before getting onto our minibus, but we were told we could leave it on the boat for the return journey. The information we received in advance of the trip was to only bring water, no other food & drink allowed. Turned out that the only part of the day this rule really applied to was once we got on the minibuses & at the viewing points. If we'd know this, we would have brought something other than water to drink. But that aside, this trip was definitely one of our Top 5 Highlights in a 3 week trip that was packed full of amazing experiences!

Excellent day out despite mostly poor weather
We did the Toba inlet tour starting at 7am on a very rainy day. We ended up seeing just one grizzly (along with a black bear), but not much can be done about that and the guide let us borrow binoculars to see the bear better. We were just glad we saw one! On the boat ride there and back, we also ended up seeing some porpoises (who swam around and under the boat), a humpback, and a group of 3 orcas, which we were thrilled to see. The covered boat was warm inside and also had a seating/viewing area on top which was awesome for seeing the whales. Our guide (Bratton?) was excellent, told us plenty about the area and the wildlife, and we had a great time all in all. We would definitely recommend this - highlight of our trip so far!

The highlight of our Canada holiday
The highlight of our Canada holiday. Alex & Zoe on the boat and Stewert & James on the bear bus all did a great job of finding wildlife and making it a day to remember. On the bear tour, we saw 8 grizzlies, some of them fishing for salmon just a few metres away. Stewert provided lots of information about the animals and the local culture (plus a few old jokes to keep everyone smiling). On the outward boat journey the wildlife spotted included a humpback. And so much more on the return. Despite it getting late in the day, Alex continued to stop whenever there was a chance to see more. Sealions salmon fishing in the whirlpools, bald eagles, seals, dolphins and orcas. Highly recommended

The most amazing grizzly bear experience!
We went on a Grizzly Tour to Bute Inlet. It was mind blowing and amazing. The tour was perfectly organized, we stopped several times for wildlife (humpbacks, seals) on the way. As we arrived at the Bute Inlet, we got a very high-quality lunch served consisting out of a wrap, cookies, granola bar, dried fruits and coffee/tea/hot chocolate. All homemade. The bear viewing part was simply mind blowing. Super nice and friendly guides explaining the history, the behaviours of the bears and providing lots of information about their culture and the region. We saw several bears fishing for salmon, even a mom with two cubs. We had lots of time with the bears at several viewing points. The guides on the boat are super professional and the friendliest people ever. Yes, it is an expensive tour, but it is so worth every penny! We will definitely do it again!! We absolutely recommend it to make your trip unforgettable.

All we had hoped for - and more!
Calm seas and blue skies gave us a picture-book backdrop for our visit to the waters around Quadra and the other Discovery Islands. The whales responded well and came to say hello - in the afternoon we were the only boat in the vicinity of a pod with possibly a new humpback on his/her first visit to the area ... that was very special. On our journey we also saw porpoises, dolphins - and a large gathering of "near-threatened" Steller Sealions "catching some rays" on a rocky outcrop. As we reflect on an amazing experience we are immensely grateful not just for the privilege of being with these animals in their habitat, but also because we learned so much about them from our knowledgeable and friendly boat-driver, guide and naturalist, Quinn. Oh, and the lunch was pretty good too! All-in-all, it was worth every penny and we couldn't recommend it more highly.

      Excellent excursion!
Not only did we see 6 grizzlybears, we saw sealions, seals, dolphins, dal porpoises, black bears AND orcas during the boatride to the inlet. Jessica was a great guide. Not a cheap excursion but realy worth the money.

      THE Best Day
Absolutely AMAZING from start, watching the sun rise on the way to Toba from the boat,to finish, watching two humpback whales blowing and playing on the journey back.We also saw sea lions,a bald eagle and black bears but the highlights for me were watching a big male grizzly and then a mother and cub grizzly catching salmon.I felt totally privileged to witness the amazing wildlife and the beauty of Vancouver Island.Bex,our boat driver and guide, was so informative, knowledgeable and enthusiastic for what she does-a perfect host.Throw in a fabulous lunch and a beautiful day…just THE best.

      Awsome morning Whale Watching.
What a fantastic trip, we saw Sea Lions , 2 Hump Back Whales, enjoyed the most stunning scenery you could imagine, truly magical morning. Tyler W kept us informed throughout the trip, top class guy and guide with a wealth of knowledge which he happily shared with us, very natural in his delivery, never seemed like he was reading a script like some tour operators. Obviously passionate about conservation, that came across numerous times. 100% recommended, can't wait to come back. Thanks Tyler W.

It was all so well organised and Tyler W was absolutely charming. The boat was really comfortable as well. Nice to be able to retreat to the warmth of inside. Disappointed to only see 2 humpbacks but it was not for want of trying. Highly recommend!

We are lucky to live in CR.. so when company came to town we booked 8 of us on a 4 hour Zodiac Tour for Canada Day.. and are we ever glad that we did! Our guide Quinn was awesome! We saw Humpbacks playing for well over 10 minutes, 2 of them double breaching many times together.. INCREDIBLE!!! Hundreds of eagles feeding, then the incredible rapids on the north end of Quadra. Our entire group loved it and wanted to go again the next day! Thanks CR Whale Watching, and to Quinn our awesome guide!

What a fantastic day. Boat very confortable (we chose the cabin boat not the zodiac), guide (Tyler) very friendly and knowledgeable. Weather perfect. We saw everything promised except humpbacks. The dolphins in particular were spectacular, a pod of 200 playing round the boat for half an hour. I would unreservedly recommend this trip.

Our guide Robin took us on a grizzly bear sightseeing tour up Toba Inlet in mid September. He was a very experienced captain and guide, despite his youth. His dedication to his job was evident all day ( his day was more than 12 hours!). He answered all of our questions and was always prepared to stop and watch a humpback whale whenever one was sighted. I love that he was as excited as we were when we spotted bears or whales and pulled out his camera - even after years of guiding.
This company cares about the animals and the environment. They strive to be carbon-neutral - unlike most tour companies. I love this!
The food provided was fresh, healthy and delicious and overall this tour is well worth the money. We saw many grizzly bears, humpback whales and seal lions.

Amazing trip! We saw over 6 humpbacks with 1 coming right up to our boat! I never realised a whale could smell so bad, but it was incredible to see the up close detail on it's body. It seemed like this one humpback, named Lorax, eyed out everyone on board. What a treat.

Lorill , our guide, was very knowledgeable, attentive and funny. She paid particular attention to our 90 year old guests to ensure they were doing fine. They, however, were the ones sitting at the very front of "Foxy"Roxy" , our zodiac, to catch the best view and waves. So they were more than fine.

    Thanks Lorill!!

Wow sounds like an amazing trip! Whales coming close to the boat is something we do our best to avoid, but sometimes, they have a mind of their own and decide to come and check us out. So glad to hear that Lorill was such an attentive and great guide, we think she is pretty fantastic too!

Could not have asked for more from a whale watching experience. We saw humpbacks and orcas and spent plenty of time with both. We also saw a couple of bald eagles. Marti is a great guide that walks the extra mile for customers and he managed to avoid the rain/storm that was going on in some parts of the area letting us have a nice sun show through the clouds instead. I was on the late afternoon tour which I totally recommend.

Laura was such an incredible pilot on our awesome whale-watching tour! With no whales on anyone's radar, she found us a pod of 6 Humpbacks. Laura shut down the boat engine for 20 minutes while the Humpbacks came to our boat & performed incredible acrobats for us. Then she took us to Mitlenatch Island to explain & enjoy lots of Sea Lions, Seals & ducks & birds. Thanx for such a memorable tour!

I just moved to Campbell river a few weeks ago and have been exploring the area. This was a great tour to get out on the water and have a look around. The guide was fantastic, wasn’t rushed and had a lot of informative information. Seeing 7 humpbacks, a pod of dolphins, seals and sea lions catching fish was an incredible way to spend the day.
My only suggestion would be to have the option to tip on the booking. I completely left everything but what I needed at home and completely forgot to bring any cash with me😳

All the staff were friendly and helpful.
Captain Lief was a great driver and knowledgeable on where to find wildlife in the area. We saw seals, eagles, sea lions, humpbacks and orcas.
It was great to see a company providing reusable water bottles for guests. I was solo, but I thought it was very kind that Captain Lief seated the children first to ensure they had a good view. He did this without being rude to the other guests. But best of all, he brought us back a little late to let us enjoy the breaching humpbacks a little longer. Thank you Lief! It was an amazing experience.
