About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- db1550890 contributionsFirst seaplane rideFirst seaplane trip—very scenic and Harbor Air staff were very nice and courteous. Definitely recommend this companyWritten June 7, 2024
- richardford20170 contributionsFantastic First Flight in a SeaplaneA first for us, a seaplane transfer from Victoria to Vancouver, a journey time of 28 minutes. A smooth take off, but a loud take off, as the engine comes to full throttle and after a short bounce in the sea we are up. Islands pass us by and in no time whatsoever Vancouver is beneath us and it’s time for the landing, as smooth as the take off and then we taxi to our floating dock. Thank you Harbour Air for allowing me to tick off one of those things on my bucket list. Special thanks too for allowing us to leave our luggage with you once we had checked out from our hotel on the morning of the 29th April. Our flight was at 16.00. We didn’t experience any issues with Harbour Air as we had paid the extra baggage allowance, plus we had priority boarding. As staff were friendly and the price we paid for the flight we thought was reasonable. My only disappointment was on this day and on this type of seaplane 2 pilots are required, thus depriving me of the chance to sit up front with the captain. As you can probably tell I still enjoyed the whole experience. I know I’m a self confessed aviation geek and proud of it.Written May 7, 2024
- U355NQrichardb0 contributionsRead the fine print on baggage and don't expect any common sense.Do not fly Harbour Air if you have any kind of luggage. At $5 per lb, these crooks will screw you for every red cent. The customer service agent suggested that I buy a whole new ticket, with no credit for the ticket that was already purchased. For an additional $150 on top of the $190 ticket, it would have been more convenient just to fly out through YYJ. Even the big airlines use common sense when it comes to changing tickets and not screwing the customer. The combination of the ticket and luggage fee was now the combined cost higher then the most expensive ticket that they offer. When asked to get on an earlier flight, the reply was no, even though there was plenty of room on all previous out going flights to Vancouver. Customer service a big fat 0. Taking care of the customer after gouging the customers another 0.Written November 22, 2023
- revuall0 contributionsA magnificent experience not to be missed! When planning a day trip from Vancouver to the Island, debated ferry versus plane and decided on the latter. The day was magnificent and the views from the plane unreal! Some 10 years earlier had travelled by ferry during a winter ski trip but this was well in front of that experience. The day was spent with a visit to the famous Bouchart Gardens and then caught up with local friends for an enjoyable lunch on the warf in Victoria. and a stroll around the parliament building - all in all a truly memorable day.Written October 11, 2023
- 182sheridanc0 contributionsA very creative, helpful and pleasant Customer Service experience.Today, I had the pleasure of receiving Chelsea's pleasant, efficient service in Victoria, when attempting to send a small parcel to Friday Harbor via Kenmore Air. Chelsea explored options and we were both delighted with the advice from Kenmore Air. We were finally thwarted by bureaucracy, understandable when dealing with Customs Internationally. What might have been a very frustrating experience, was lessened considerably by Chelsea's competent, cheerful manner and I am grateful we met on this adventure. This young woman is a "Keeper"! - 555jacklyne0 contributionsSmoothest Flight EverI have a fear of flying so was very nervous for this experience. The convenience of checking in, quick on-time boarding, confident crew and smooth flight made this entire trip an absolute pleasure. The views were incredible and the quick duration was a highlight. I would recommend and do this again.Written July 8, 2023
- lynskiCalgary0 contributionsGrandma's Gone WildOn September 8, 2022, four friends (50 years of friendship) gathered in Victoria. Four friends, four legendary days. Our most memorable was this day at Sour & Sip, a tour option at Harbour Air. This day included an epic float plane experience. Our pilot, Adam, wowed us with a panoramic air tour of Victoria and then a landing in the cove connected with Butchart Gardens. After enjoying an amazing High Tea lunch, we explored the gardens for over 2 hours. It was an eye candy treat from beginning to end. Tired, but so happy, we were royally greeted and treated to a limo ride back to the Empress Hotel in Victoria. Our driver, Scott, kept us laughing and interested in historical stories of Victoria. The Harbour Air staff made it all so easy, everything was handled with class and professionalism. I am sure those are requirements of the job - however the delight they shared in our surprise trip, and the genuine interest in our story of enduring friendship, was evident and appreciated. One member of the group who swore she would never set foot on a little plane that landed on the water, enjoyed it the most. I can think of many events that would make this trip perfect and a lifeline memory like the one we now have.Written September 15, 2022

- Luv2Trav3l0 contributionsExcellent Chartered FlightWe recently charted a flight from Victoria Harbour to Vancouver Harbour for a group birthday present for friends and family. From the point of reaching out to Harbour Air regarding booking a flight to the day we took the trip, the customer service was excellent. Each time I contacted them the response was quick and clear. On the day of the trip, the staff at the Victoria Harbour was friendly, kind, and professional to our group. Check-in was quick. Flight was smooth and professional. The staff was accommodating to us for taking photos of our party before and after the trip. Thank you Harbour Air for making their birthdays memorable.Written April 3, 2022
- Steve B0 contributionsExceptional Service! What a fast and efficient way to go from Victoria to Vancouver. Also, it is scenic seeing Vancouver Island, a nice golf course - looks beautiful from the air, and islands with houses and boats. Service was friendly and efficient from start to finish. The pilot was very nice as he helped me figure out how to put on the floatation device. Warning though. If you expect heavy clouds the trip back can get canceled. I was fortunate to get a later flight on the helicopter service about 5 miles away up the road. They can sometimes fly when the seaplanes can't. In this case the incoming helicopter couldn't land downtown, so they took us by bus to Vancouver Airport where the planes can land and take-off easier.Written September 25, 2021

Harbour Air is my first choice when traveling between Vancouver and Vancouver Island, but after seeing all the precautions they have taken to help me feel safe, I can only recommend them more and more times. Thanks to my pilots Steve and Francisco and to all the helpful front counter agents.Written September 8, 2020
- tonyr3590 contributionsA tick on my bucket listTo round off a 3 week visit to Vancouver Island I flew from Victoria to Vancouver on an Harbour Air Otter sea plane to link with my flight back to UK. The Harbour terminal was comfortable and easy to reach. Refreshments were available and the staff were pleasant and efficient. The flight was great. It was smooth, with wonderful views as it flew up the Vancouver Island coast. Takeoff and landing were gentle, without any bumpiness. A great experience and not expensive. Much quicker and more convenient than the ferry. There was a free transfer by minibus from the seaplane Terminal to the main Vancouver airport. I would reccomend this flight to anyone travelling between Victoria and Vancouver.Written March 10, 2020

I booked the more expensive VICTORIA EXTENDED PANORAMA tour (35 minutes) but within a half hour, we were already back at the dock. Plus, the pilot just flew around some areas of Victoria and we saw nothing of any note. There was no narration so we had no idea what we were looking at. Anyway, we just saw a whole lot of ocean, houses, a golf course or two and that's it.
This experience is definitely not worth the exorbitant prices that they charge. Plus there was lot's of waiting around as the plane was late. The boarding process was also chaotic, with everyone just standing around and gunning onto the dock the minute boarding was announced. If you are a large party as we were, expect to be separated as others are not civil and just want to hog up a window seat.

VoyageurW, thank you for your review and we do appreciate your feedback. Having smaller aircraft as seaplanes versus a traditional airline, we welcome guests to choose seats on a first come, first served basis. In case of future flights, we do also offer private tours that may work well for larger parties, availability of which may be checked directly with our Customer Contact Centre at 1-800-665-0212. Additionally, the lack of commentary is due to the high volume of traffic in some of the busiest harbours in the world as our pilots are continuously in contact with Air Traffic Control, which does not allow for them to provide a commentary throughout the flight. Rest assured, we’ve noted your experience as an opportunity to enhance the guest experience. We hope to have you aboard our flights again someday.

This tour is definitely worth it. The views of Victoria and the Olympic mountains were incredible, and we got to see a lot within 20 minutes. We did priority boarding which meant we got to board first and choose the best seats and get a free drink at the bar afterwards. For nervous flyers, the take off and landing was significantly smoother than any land plane we’ve been on! Even on a windy day, the plane felt very stable and comfortable and the pilot made us feel very safe.

Our tour was at 4.30pm, but we arrived around 4.10pm. Honestly, I know it’s our fault because as we arrived late even though we were told to arrive 30mins prior to our tour. But since we came from our whale watching tour, my friend and I felt really sick when we arrived at the shore, (motion sickness I guess). But still tried to go to our tour since it’s already paid. When we arrived at the check in counter, we were assisted by a lady who’s very unfriendly, didnt even bother to smile or help us catch the plane. She just said they no showed us immediately. And that’s it. Even though we can still see the plane by the dock. She stared at us like, we are not welcome there.. so we left the counter. We felt terrible and disappointed. After a few minutes, we decided to go back and ask for help. we thought Maybe they can do something or maybe we were still expecting them to assist us or just be nice so that we won’t feel too bad about the incident. So another lady came and smiled at us, (thank goodness) we told her our situation. She immediately grab the radio and tried to talk to whoever is outside in charge of the flight. But that was aleady 4.21pm. And the plane was about to leave. We felt relief cause somehow, that lady tried her best to assist/help us. And most of all, smiled at us. It was our first time in Victoria. Our experience was awesome except for this place. I will never recommend them to friends and family!

All around a really disappointing experience. Felt like a tourist mill right from the beginning. Disinterested staff; disinterested boarding crew; disinterested pilot. No one said a word, the whole trip describing what we were doing of the new give us safety video. My grandkids fell asleep. Would never do it again. Save your money and take your family for a great dinner. Take your family.

We loved this tour, its such a novel experience, climbing into a float plane, accommodating around 12 passengers, it boats through Victoria harbour, before taking off and touring round Victoria then further round the coast. I was lucky to be on the left so saw all the views on the way out, but passengers on the right get equally good views on the way back. If you haven't done this before, then it's definitely worth it

A seaplane flight was a bucket list item. It was fun taking off and landing on the water. Flight was nice, great views of Victoria and the inner harbor. It was disappointing that there was no narration. When an activity is listed as a "tour", my expectation was there would be communication regarding some of the sights or areas below. I think that would have enhanced the experience.
All staff (from booking to pilot) were professional and pleasant.

SusanneE22, Thank you for your review, we are pleased to hear you enjoyed the great views from above.
We appreciate your feedback the lack of commentary. Due to the high volume of traffic in and around the harbours, our pilots are constantly in contact with Air Traffic Control which does not allow for them to provide a commentary throughout the flight. We however recommend our FlyGuide Flight companion to those guests interested in a guided excursion- a handheld multimedia device which offers customized audio commentary photos, and maps in five different languages. This additional narration is $10 CAD.
Hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back aboard again someday.

Views are amazing. The planes are a little
Cramped but that’s to be expected. Very cool experience. Next time I would just take a sea plane for travel between islands - they are so cool! Landing / takeoff very smooth (we happened to have had a really nice day the day we did the tour)
