- M7120YCjonathand0 contributionsAn interesting art museumA really beautiful building! Some really good art inside too, a great afternoon on a rainy day, would definitely recommend it.Written September 8, 2024
- Hermes_NL0 contributionsSerene museum in bustling ski resortThe Audain provides an oasis of quiet in the bustle of the Whistler ski resort. Its gorgeous building houses an eclectic collection of art by First Nations as well as contemporary modern art. Very nicely presented in beautiful light. I loved in particular the paintings by Emily Carr.Written April 20, 2024
- ght03140 contributionsNot to be missed on a trip to Whistler! We were absolutely astounded by the work of artist-in-residence Manabu Ikeda. We almost left Whistler without stopping at the museum, but fortunately we made the last-minute decision to check it out. We are so glad we did! If you are in town before Ikeda-san's exhibit ends in October, make the time to go. It is like nothing else you have ever seen. You can also watch him working in his studio on the weekends. Check the schedule for specific times. We had the good fortune to meet him, and it is something we will always remember. The museum also has a great collection of BC artists' works. We enjoyed that as well, and will be sure to return on our next trip to Whistler. This was our first and we had no idea what a great museum this is.Written July 22, 2023
- Robert A0 contributionsMust See VisitThe museum is absolutely wonderful in its own right, but we got to view the Rembrandt/Dutch Master's collection, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and so oddly satisfying.Written February 14, 2023
- Bill R0 contributionseducational opportunities missedportable stools are great idea. Indigenous artifact labels are not educational and only relevant to a curator. Gallery guide is in book format only and would be more useful if snippets easily available close to the collection pieces. The dance screen is phenomenal to experience but you are hot provided with any context or background or understanding how it would "work." So many opportunities missed to engage the visiting public.Written October 18, 2022
- K3711VQheatherd0 contributionsStunning building and inspiring art.I particularly enjoyed the Riopele exhibition which I think is there until Feb 2022. Highly recommend.Written January 19, 2022
- ATfromCanada0 contributionsfantastic exposure to exceptional indigenous artI've been lucky enough to grow up in BC and to have seen some great art from native cultures. This, however, is exceptional talent. Stunning nuanced skill. This is a brilliantly curated collection, and a must-see for the curious and anyone who thinks they already know what native art is all about.Written October 10, 2021
- kawaguy0 contributionsHigh quality museumGorgeous building. Collection of indigenous art includes some of the best pieces you'll see anywhere. Add two temporary exhibitions and you have good value without having worn yourself out for the rest of the day. If you are the non-shopping member of a couple, bring a book because the gift shop will be a half hour. Easy parking nearby, also walkable from Whistler Village. Note that it is only open a few days a week.Written September 3, 2021

- susanaM3112KA0 contributionsAwe inspiring, innovative, relaxed. We have been members ever since it opened. And every time we have visitors we bring them to the Gallery. I consider it a must see for all who come to Whistler. It has a fantastic permanent collection and is always pushing the boundaries on their temporary exhibits. One of my favourite galleries anywhere.Written December 1, 2020
- BirdieOne0 contributionsLovely collection.Something for every taste. Even the kids liked the collection. It was great to see them standing and considering the pieces, even more because the Audain shows the incredible local BC talent. Lots of Emily Carr. Beau Dick and his fantastic masks and the other First Nations artifacts.Written November 10, 2020
- Joel K0 contributionsNice architectural design and art displaysMy wife went alone on her to visit the Audain. She enjoyed the Emily Carr exhibit, the First Nations Art and special exhibit. The museum was quiet and enjoyable.Written October 26, 2020

Just the exterior itself is an architectural marvel and masterpiece. The exhibits inside are also just as exquisite. Definitely worth a visit if you are in Whistler especially during the summer season as the weather is warm and inviting. Love that this museum showcases the works of prominent Canadian artists!

We had the pleasure of visiting this museum during artist Manabu Ikeda's exhibit and also while he was in studio working on his art. Suggest to check the museum's website for his studio hours. The exhibit is incredible and we feel so lucky to have seen him at work. The rest if the museum's exhibit is also wonderful. What a gem to have this art in Whistler.

The Building itself is spectacular- spend some time at its picture windows to feel the forest around you. Pay attention to how they have positioned indigenous art with the newer art it has inspired. I am sorry we were not there in the summer for their friday night bistro with dining and tour of museum which I suspect is fantastic. The architects for this building also did the Polygon Gallery in Vancouver- notice how they are similar but produce different effects in their different environs

If you happen to get trapped inside by the weather, this is a fantastic option for whiling away an afternoon. This is one of the very best places to view British Columbia art in the province. If you’re an Emily Carr fan, you’ll love the very large selection of her work on permanent display here. There’s an impressive collection of historic and contemporary First Nations art as well. And don’t miss the museum shop, which has much affordable work by local artists for sale.

The building itself is worth a visit- it is very Zen. As we went in on a hot day, we appreciate the coolness and calmness of the green view from beautiful wooden architecture. The art collection on Canadian paintings, and indigenous art (of western region) were definitely worth seeing. I want to go again. Also gift shop has amazing collection of silver jewellery.

The Audain art museum is a must for architecture and art lovers. The building in itself is spectacular. The collection of art pieces is diversed and provides a great opportunity to discover native artists from across Canada. It’s perfectly located in the heart of Whistler village. A perfect place to visit for a rainy day or a day off the slopes while in Whistler.

We attended the Audain Museum/Alta Bistro tour and dinner on August 14th. It was our first time visiting this wonderful museum. The architecture and the west coast art is well worth seeing. We'll be back to spend more time in the museum. Then the meal was exceptional and creative. The food and service was top notch and we will be back to sample the main menu at its restaurant. We will be recommending this event to all of our friends.

A very interesting gallery with great First Nations pieces, a wonderful selection of Emily Carr paintings and some amazing First Nations work by Dempsey Bob. It was a very interesting visit with lots of historical information. It was reasonably expensive for its size but well worth a visit.

The building is very well designed: modern, clean, slick...large windows which reflect surrounding landscape with trees marvelously. They also have a lovely gift ship with very expensive gifts. Expositions on displays are at least worth your while. Related to the British Columbia. Very interesting.

Beautiful art museum, with a wonderful collection of Emily Carr and First Nations Art. I really enjoyed my visit. Also has a great gift shop full of BC artisans wares(i.e. jewellery, pottery, glass, soap...). Perfect for a rainy day or to beat the heat on a summer day.
