Had a whale of a time!
The cruise was an all around amazing experience. The route is well planned to optimize the likelihood of you being within close proximity to multiple whales while still allowing you a waterfront view of many of the great sites on the bays of St John's. The mix of fog and clear whether my friends and I experienced helped further the magical draw of the tour, adding mystique and satisfaction in perfect juxtaposition. The amount of different whales and birds you can see alone is crazy. The true pin point that really kept the experience on a high note was the crew. Before we even left the dock they were quick to make sure you had plenty of sunscreen, something unaccounted for by my group and happily resolved by the crew. The sea shanties molded the overall mood of the adventures we were bounding toward. In those few small spurts where the sea air was chilling, various crew members were quick to bring around blankets and sacrifice their jackets. They all kept us alert to where we could best see the different creatures at any given time. They were very knowledgeable about the area and the history in addition to the various animals. My group was not aware of the experience that was being Screeched In until we were well out at sea, but the crew was very accommodating in allowing us to share in that experience despite no notification as such before departure. If you love seeing unique animals in close proximity, or if you love listening to cheery music and banter in a scenic environment, I highly recommend this experience.

      Icebergs
Was in Twillingate and embarked on Iceberg Quest tour on 7/16/23 and had a fantastic tour. Barry Rogers was the skipper and Roy and Sally the crew. We saw lots of icebergs and had a magnificent experience. Barry was very knowledgable and his commentary was informative. Would highly recommend this tour company.

      Excellent Employees !!
The Captain and Crew were outstanding. Although the weather did not cooperate during our cruise the crew made the trip worth it. Especially Glen , he was the nicest person that we met during our 10 day trip to the island. If you are looking for a tour while in St Johns this is the one.

      Best time ever!
We had an amazing time on this tour! We got to see a ton of whales and the crew were awesome. Glenn especially went above and beyond to take care of us, I had been feeling nervous to be on the boat but he put me totally at ease. I would go again and again!

      Be careful.
The name and marketing of this tour is misleading. It should be marketed as a two hour sailing to view Cape Smear and the coastline. Full stop. If you’re lucky you may see some whales and wildlife. Yes we know that whale sightings cannot be guaranteed and we understand why. To go ahead with a sailing with very limited visibility and full knowledge seeing wildlife was very unlikely is not good business. At least we did see a dead seal.

      Great
I booked this excursion for a family of four on the day of the tour , while travelling , thus I was unable to print off my tickets. When we presented at the check in , the agent was only able to find 3 out of 4 of our names that she had hand written in her little book. She did not have access to a computer or hand head device to check the bookings, and proceeded to inform me that I was not booked & would have to pay her at the wicket. Well, then I pulled out my personal phone a show her the email confirmation for me and my three other family members, by name! I have to wonder in this world of digital technology at our finger tips, it put my family & I thru much unnecessary stress in the moments before the cruise, and left us wondering "How many more people has paid the second time to be with their family on this cruise?" Other than this issue , it was a beautiful evening cruise experience & we hope the musician is getting paid lots , because he was an awesome entertainer & played the whole time! The sea was a little rough especially on the return but a very refreshing cruise - just take a few warm layers of clothing in case it gets cold as the evening closes in. We did not see an whales or ice bergs since it was not the right season for their appearance, but thats OK since we see lots, since we live in costal Newfoundland.

      Amazing boat tour!
We thoroughly enjoyed this concert cruise! The local musician Jim Feehan was amazing and sang a mixture of Newfoundland and other popular songs. He sang and played guitar for two full hours, taking requests too! There was a bar with beer, wine, spirits, and snacks such as bars and chips. The crew are super friendly, helpful, and they really make the trip enjoyable for you in any way they can(thanks to Glen for being so amazing). We went out through the narrows in St. John’s harbour, passing famous sights The Battery, Signal Hill, Fort Amherst, Cape Spear, and went almost as far at Petty Harbour. We saw lots of whales and different sea birds. The boat stopped at a spot where whales were breaching so we could have a good look and take photos. It was just an amazing boat tour and the sights were gorgeous. It was easy to take many beautiful photos of this breathtaking place! Thank you to all! I highly recommend doing this tour.

      Fantastic!!
I brought my friend who was visiting from Ontario on the concert cruise Friday night and we had the best time!! Carolann (the owner) was aboard and she was an absolute doll! She was so obliging and lovely to chat with! Glen, one of the crew members, was nothing more than amazing! He could not do enough to make everyone’s experience amazing! He asked if my friend had been screeched in, which she had not, and he then insisted on screeching her in! It was an overall fantastic experience and I could not recommend enough!

      Wonderful tour
this was an excellent tour and captain Barry was really interesting. We didn't see any whales but got quite a bit of information on the area, lands, history, birds, etc.

WE had an excellent tour on the boat and to have the music made the tour even better. Some of the comments along the way were informative and fun as well.

      Great and unique experience
Thanks to Bob's music the atmosphere on the boat was amazing and everyone had a great time. Glenn Madrid sure that we have a nice trip by getting us drinks, blankets and good talks. At the end he also screeched me in which was very fun! Thank you for this experience!

A must do in St. John's
I live in St. Johns and had a friend visiting, so opted for doing a boat tour. What can I say, it was a GREAT experience. Bob the Musician was good, saw whales and Glenn was exceptional doing the rounds making sure everyone had what they needed. Beer, Blankets, getting Screeched in, lets just say we left the boat two very happy campers. I have hosted a number of Couchsurfer's over the years and I know now that I will be suggesting Iceberg Quest to all of them. It was also nice to see the City and Cape Spear from the water, something that I will never forget.

So, so cold - but enjoyable
Departed downtown St John's and went out to Cape Spear. Friendly employees, enjoyable live entertainment, good information presented by our tour host. Views of St John's from the harbour were spectacular. Saw a couple of puffins, no whales or icebergs (better to do that further north). Wear layers, it can get really cold in the wind. My cell phone died from the cold, wish I had brought handwarmers with me. Glad I had a hat - noticed that most of the folks without hats ended up inside instead of standing out on deck. Don't take a boat tour if you're prone to sea sickness; once you're out of the harbour there are some fantastic waves. Really enjoyed. Might be better to go to Bay Bulls / Witless Bay to see puffins, this tour is better for viewing the city and Cape Spear.

The crew and entertainment was great but it was a very foggy day and this excursion should have been cancelled by the operator. Passengers could not see anything because of the dense fog other than a few puffin near the end as we were returning to the harbour. To make it worse the ocean was very rough and probably half of the passengers were physically throwing up or very queasy. Disappointing to say the least and expected the experienced operator would have cancelled. At $120 per person to be on a two hour trip to see nothing (including land) and feel sick (not a fault of the captain or operator) was a big waste of time and ruin of the remaining part of the day due to seasickness.

Let me say that the staff was fantastic! My issue is that I booked my tour June 15th and the tour is titled "icebergs, whales and puffins". And obviously you cannot guarantee to see all three. But it was disappointing when I spoke to other tour companies and locals and they revealed it was unlikely to see icebergs and it's not yet whale season. Whale season begins in a couple weeks. We also didn't see puffins. So basically it was $100 a person to sail around the coast. Which I wouldn't have done. I'm not sure why the company would offer this, if those attractions aren't in season. Seems like an easy way to take advantage of tourists. If I decide to travel back I'll probably book a longer tour with McCarthy tours that tours the north part of the island. Their tours I've taken so far have been fantastic

Was in St. John’s for the first time for a buddies wedding.

A whole bunch of us went whale watching,

I’ve been whale watching in Maui, Hawaii and have the Atlantic Ocean a chance to see whales. Well it didn’t disappoint, first the staff at Iceberg Quest were great, from check in to being out on the water to coming back into port, every staff member was great and went above and beyond.

We saw a ton of whales, no breeches but lots of waves from the whales, lots of dives and was very impressed as I’ve been spoiled from Maui whales.

You can purchase beverages (yes beer) and staff come around so you don’t miss out on seeing any whales, the staff even took my empty beer cans which was nice.

As a note it gets about 5/6 degrees Celsius cooler once you get through the inlet so bring warm clothes and if you don’t wear them it’s nice to have them (knapsacks are allowed).

Thanks to the staff at Iceberg, talking about Icebergs we didn’t see any but we’re told we probably won’t, tons of puffins which was nice to see.

Keep up the good work, see pictures…

After a great, lively experience with Iceberg Quest a week earlier in Twillingate, my friends and I were very disappointed with this boat tour in St. John's. First, we were scheduled for the 11:30 tour, but when we arrived we were told that we were rescheduled for the 2 pm tour because of fog and that they had notified us. However, we did not receive that email prior to showing up for the tour. In fact, it first arrived with a noon timestamp. This interrupted our plans for the day. While we understand that poor weather can impact a tour, we should have been given more notice. Secondly, this tour was extremely dull. We were in the back of the boat, and you could not hear the captain (staff member told us there was no speaker in the back). The staff did not interact with us. The music was piped in, unlike the live music we had on our Twillingate tour. We saw a few whales in the distance, but the captain could not go around the cape because of the fog so we did not go any further out. We know whales are not guaranteed, but this was very disappointing. We saw just as many whales from the shore when we went to St. Vincent's beach later in our trip.

This tour was aweful. My family and I went to Newfoundland and we were so excited for this tour. I emailed the company before booking as we were traveling mid June so I wanted to make sure we would see an iceberg. They replied telling me it was the perfect time of year. Not only did we not see an iceberg we didn’t see any whales or puffins. My family of 6 and I were all disappointed. We were on the boat for 2 hours and they took us to signal hill and cape spear (via the boat) but we had been to those locations the day before.
I was on the top level next to the captains area when the boat turned around. The captain was on his phone. He didn’t care that the group of (50-60) people all paid $100 and didn’t see a thing. I would recommend another tour.
I emailed the company after the tour to explain how disappointed we were and how we even checked before booking and got no response.
The next day we went on a hike and past bell island was a giant iceberg. So they were around still.

This tour is a rip off as we saw no whales or puffins - oh one dead puffin. We didn’t even go off shore so no intention whatsoever to see whales. The guide book says August is the season but we sailed very close to to shore line, so not a chance.

A great tour to do while in St.John's.

The crew was very friendly and informative and the live local music was awesome ! The views from off shore were spectracular. We were fortunate to get to see some Minke Whale's ,Eagles, Puffin's and some other sea birds. Prior to booking I had talked with Carolanne , she was super helpful with all the details, If you atre thinking about a tour give Carolanne a call and she will set you up .

The boat cruise was ok, maybe a nice experience if you haven't much experience boating. We did not see much out there, just a few puffins swimming and a whale very far out, not a good viewing but of course, that is out of the operators control. We were not happy that the cruise started 20 minutes late as we had metered parking. Also when we got to the launch they demanded $12 per person extra, because gas is now more expensive then when we purchased the tickets and they wanted it in cash only. I would go with another tour next time, in a neighboring community.

We thoroughly enjoyed our trip out of St John’s. The crew were really friendly and helpful. Some other guests didn’t prepare for the conditions but Glen firstly offered sunscreen then blankets as the conditions outside the harbour were very cold and rough. We saw a humpback whale breaching and stayed near it for quite a while but at a safe distance. The booking in was straightforward and the safety information was easy to understand. I would recommend the trip and suggest that people read the boarding guide and dress appropriately for the conditions.

Was given advance notice that we were not going to see any iceburgs but was still well worth the money. The crew was fantastic and shout out to Glen and Nathan for the extra effort. The live musical entertainment on board simply added to the experience. Capped it off with becoming an honorary Newfoundlander coming through the narrows by being Screeched In.
