Top notch tour - highly recommended
Excellent introduction to St. John’s and Newfoundland’s food basics. Melissa lead us on a walk that covered some history, some fun stories and anecdotes and delved into how the local food was grown, gathered and developed. We visited some great local pubs/restaurants and bakeries, each of which showcased a specific food from the land and the sea. Thoroughly enjoyable and highly recommended.

    A very filling experience
The Food Tour was both an interesting walking tour that included many historical sites in downtown St. John's, and a food tour featuring six different local specialties. One thing to be aware of on the walking side is that you will spend much of your walking time going up and down fairly steep hills including some stairs. Our guide Melissa was careful to stop often, both to let us catch our breath and to describe the history all around us. But if you have limited mobility, you should think twice about taking this tour. Each of the six food stops (ranging from pubs to a bakery) served us a different local item. First rate quality, and more than enough quantity. We were warned at the start that we might be very full by the end. My wife and I both skipped dinner that night. Highly recommended.

    Good food tour
Pick up spot east to find. The tour guide was friendly (my only comment would be that maybe a bit too much about what she liked as a kid in terms of food). The local places she took us and the food served was very good, especially the moose sliders and the mini fish and chips. Would certainly recommend the tour.

    Excellent foodie tour!
This tour was absolutely grand! The food was awesome, and the tour itself intertwined perfectly with all the food stops. We learned so much about NL! Make sure to go hungry, you will not be disappointed. Our tour guide Melissa was both knowledgeable and lovely. I would happily take this tour again, when we go back to NL.

Wonderful Way to Spend the Afternoon
Our guide for the walking tour was very knowledgeable about not only food in St. John's but also included history about the restaurants and St. John's. I was so full after the tour I didn't need to eat for the remainder of the day. Just a reminder to anyone taking the tour, do NOT each before you go!

    Fantastic!
There's no better way to learn about a place than through it's food, which is why my husband and I jumped at the chance to take a walking, eating tour through St. John's on our recent trip to Newfoundland. We knew quite a bit about the place before we arrived, but not nearly as much as we thought, and we were thrilled to be guided around St. John's by the intelligent and engaging tour guide, David. We talked about everything from the cod fishery and moratorium to music and politics on this great tour, which featured incredible food at every stop. It was a great way to start our time on the Island and I highly recommend it

    Loved it
My daughter and I absolutely loved this tour! Much more than a food tour (although the food was great!) as the guide told us stories about the history and culture of St. John’s and NL. He was also able to answer any questions that people had. It was about 3 hours, and we walked through the downtown area. We saw some jellybean row houses too. We had 6 food stops. I was very impressed at how well the tour coordinated the food service. We basically arrived at the stop, sat down, and had fresh, hot food served up within a few minutes. The portions were perfect and tasty. You won’t leave hungry! The tour guide provided recommendations for other things to do, and places to eat. We enjoyed meeting the other people on the tour as well. Highly recommend whether it’s your first day being in the city, or being a tourist in your own home. A very fun day.

Eating our way across St. John’s!
Had a great experience on our tour! Dave was fun and knowledgeable - shared interesting facts, stories and taught us about St. John’s. The food was excellent and the people who were along with us we enjoyable. Wished we’d been able to go at the beginning of our holiday rather than end - we’d love to go back to a few of the stops!!

    Excellent Afternoon!!!!!!
I want to thank Melissa for a wonderful afternoon of food and great information. The 6 part menu was very very tasty. The walk to each place was enjoyable and informative, as was the intro to every dish. The places where we ate were beautiful and worth another visit. I am highly recommending this tour. It is best not to have lunch before you go or else you might not be able to finish the final treat.

Food Tour you would enjoy with great information
We went to this Food Tour on Saturday. This tour was very informative and the food was very tasty. Melissa provided great information about Newfoundland cuisine and we experienced 6 samples of food. The route we took was very pleasant and was about 2 KM. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone. Thank you again for the entertainment and information!

Takes the idea of sampling NL culture to a new level
As far as I know this is the first of its kind and so well executed. Portions were well selected, served, and delish! The history and stories that came with it made it a ever so fun experience. Will go again and bring friends.

We did this tour on our first full day in St. John’s. It is a must do if you want to familiarize yourself with the architecture, culture and history of St. John’s and the role it played in the history of Canada as well as its strategic role in world history.

Dave P. Was our guide. We could not have asked for a better host for this experience. He was able to address small details as well as how the details fit into a much larger picture that had an impact on the development of the city and the province. His respect for those who came before was palpable. He had a great sense of humour and was open to sharing family history that further tied the pieces together.

The tour felt like sharing an afternoon with a friend whose easy manner, insightfulness and knowledge made you want to spend more time together. Thank you for this wonderful opportunity. We would strongly recommend signing up for this tour.

Pierre had us meet at the well known sculpture A Time. He was on time as were the eight of us, and started with some background and context about the statue and it’s sculptor. We traveled throughout the heart of downtown, then headed up for excellent views on Jellybean Row.

Pierre was a good host and provided interesting color to the location.

Pierre rocks. His educational tour of the St. John’s Downtown area including Jelly Bean Row was insightful and humorous. His historical knowledge of the area is unparalleled and really added to the understanding of how and why St.John’s grew as a city. The pace and distance covered was reasonable as you stop and go throughout the 2.5 hour tour.

Highly recommend this tour especially at the start of your trip as Pierre’s recommendations and insights will enable you to experience much more of St. John’s.

I arrived in St. John's late in the evening. After getting situated for the night, I had no solid plan for the next morning. So, I went online and looked up "things to see and do in St. John's.

In doing so, I happened upon this walking tour and decided to give it a try. In short, I was very glad I did. Not only was the tour very informative, but also provided perspective on things to otherwise see and do, while in St. John's.

For example, Pierre recommended getting screeched in @ Christian's, on George St. Later that evening, I did so, and had a blast!

Pierre is a fantastic host, very personable, knowledgeable, witty, and fun. I recommend doing this early during your visit in the city, as it will provide a great launching off point for subsequent activities/experiences to subsequently enjoy.

Keep up the great work, Pierre!

Pierre was a treasure trove of information on the history and people of St John's. We were fortunate to book the tour on his first anniversary in the business. It was obvious how passionate he is about the subject, often bursting into snippets of songs or giving amusing little trivia facts about the characters and businesses that are a part of the area's history. I strongly recommend this tour for anyone wanting a great introduction to the city. Wear comfortable shoes, and be prepared for a treat.

Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. He really knew the history of Newfoundland and was able to convey it without partisan asides. The tour was physically challenging in that St Johns is very hilly and we had to go up several long staircases as we walked along. He kept a steady pace while unobtrusively waiting for participants who lagged behind while climbing.

I had a great time walking with Pierre and the group through St. John's! We covered a lot of ground at a nice easy space given all the hills and I never felt rushed. Pierre's love for St. John's and the province was felt through his lively and funny story telling (and jokes!), and his deep historical knowledge. We had some great laughs and learned a lot! He also gave suggestions for food and other things to do in the city as we walked so this is a great way to start your time there as an introduction. 10/10 from me for this tour!

This was an amazing tour conducted by Dave - he knows his city well and we learned so much about the history of St. John’s. Dave provided fascinating anecdotes and stories about the buildings/architecture and about St. John’s very colourful characters. He was so friendly and engaging, I would redo this tour in a second. Next time we’re in the city, we will definitely try one of the other tours as well. Would 100% recommend this tour!!

I loved this walking tour with our awesome guide, Dave. He made the city come alive as we learned about the history, the politics, the people, and the culture that make St. John’s the place that it is. The tour also helped bring to life the long ago history lessons of our country, and helping me feel that history in a way that can’t be learned through just reading about it.

Whenever we travel to a new city we always try and take a walking tour to get a good quick understanding of the city, its history as well as healthy dose of local knowledge and insights. This tour did not disappoint as Pierre is both knowledgeable and enthusiastic in delivering the requisite information and that enhances the overall experience. Though the downtown is hilly there are frequent stops to catch your breath and soak up the nuggets of information being shared. As Canadians, the historical anecdotes shared were particularly interesting. The restaurant recommendations for fish and chips (so good we went on two consecutive evenings) and screeching-in were both excellent.
