About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- saxwoman630 contributionsGreat food and historyWe were on a cruise with my husband's brother/wife and had a stop in St Johns. We decided to do this tour to get a sense of the city and its food. We had an absolutely beautiful day for the tour - which is a major bonus. Our guide was TERRIFIC (but I can't remember her name - ugh). We stopped at several local places for some interesting and great food - including moose burgers, ice cream, fish and chips, etc. Each place we stopped was as interesting as the food. She also provided us with some great history of St Johns. We walked about 1.5 mils but remember it's a hilly city so be forewarned. We certainly had plenty to eat - but pace yourself - even with small portions. Enjoy!Written October 17, 2024
- randykS1759BR0 contributionsVery interesting and informativeI loved this tour, it was very interesting and informative and our tour guide certainly knew his stuff! There is lots of history in St. John's for sure and I have no reservations in recommending this tour!Written October 9, 2024
- GolemGolem0 contributionsExcellentThis is a great tour. Dave is knowledgeable, personable, amusing, and a terrific guide. Saw lots, learned lots, and got exactly the historical and cultural contexts that we look for in such a tour. We would recommend it without hesitation. We booked it knowing it was a walking tour in St John's so anticipated steps and some inclines! Many thanks to Dave PS. if there is any demand for a tour that focuses exclusively on past and present harbour life/industry we would sign up for thatWritten October 6, 2024
- lindaggoltz0 contributionsFun food tourVery nice selection of foods and restaurants. Our guide was great. We learned a lot about the history of the places and food.Written September 30, 2024
- B2892HTjohnr0 contributionsLots of local food!We had six food stops and the food all had local roots. We had a nice variety and it was all very good. Our guide provided a lot of interesting local information along the way. There are a lot of steep steps and/or steep slopes. This tour should be advertised as NOT for those with mobility restrictions.Written September 30, 2024
- MarieStolson0 contributionsFood DelightsI highly recommend this tour if you want to find out what are traditional foods in Newfoundland. We spent 3 hours with Tyra, our awesome tour guide. She lead us through the streets of downtown, sharing a little folk lore, keeping us entertained and well fed with the six stops we made. She really knows the history of the area, and had great recommendations for us as well.Written September 29, 2024
- RGJenks0 contributionsFood and HistoryTyra was very personable and full of knowledge. She lots of fun. We throughly enjoyed the tour. FYI we visited mostly pubs, no fine dining.Written September 25, 2024
- H5676DQdougw0 contributionsSt. John's Downtown Walking Tour. The knowledge of history our guide knew was incredible. The sights we saw were remarkable. We highly recommend this tour. Note: walking approximately 4 miles, a lot of which was up steep grades. Wear good foot ware.Written September 23, 2024
- pate19490 contributionsA Must Do Tour!Outstanding! The food was delicious and the stories/information about Newfoundland were excellent. Just 10 people so a nice size group. Moose sliders, fish and chips, salt cod cakes, touron, scones and ice cream! Come hungry!!! I highly recommend this tour!Written September 20, 2024
- Laurie P A0 contributionsTerrific time in St. John’s!This was a very interesting tour- we were a mix of Canadians and Americans and Dave kept us all interested and amused about the historical and present facts and foibles! He was very humorous and we heard lots of little known incidents then and now. As well as the informative nature of the tour, it was also a workout- about 7,000 steps and the equivalent of 45 flights of stairs. Very well done!!Written September 20, 2024

- K_Christe19800 contributionsRecommended walking tourWe had a great tour with Bob. Very informative, and well organized. Decent mobility needed for this 2.5 hr walk, there were several hills and stairs. All together really enjoyable experience!Written September 7, 2024
- Steve C0 contributionsWell worth the time. Our guide Bob was excellent, proved a lot of information about St. John’s and NL history, and great stories about the area and people.Written September 3, 2024
- Seaside247500 contributionsAn Informative and Enjoyable TourThis tour comprised three distinctive pubs in downtown St. John’s. Walks between them were easy for this 80-year-old to handle. So were the varieties of ales, IPAs, lager, sour & stout we explored. Very easy. Our guide, Melissa, was well-prepared to explain the differences in their production. She also described the importance of beer in the heritage of Newfoundland, embellishing the history with fascinating and often amusing local stories. The tour was informative and thoroughly enjoyable. I highly recommend it.Written September 3, 2024
