Long rides but a beautiful day
Lots of riding in a bus. A comfortable ride but long to get to places. We had to shorten our tour due to a slightly late arrival of cruise ship but we still were able to see most places promised. Knowledgeable guide but hard to hear sometimes.

      Boring
Not the most interesting tour. The Cabot Trail is rather boring. Left Sydney at 8 am. Stop for pictures. Stop for bathroom break. Stop for pictures . Three hours later we get to Keltic Lodge. Stop for bathroom and pictures. Head back the exact same way we got there. Stop for lunch and bathroom, 1 hour. Back to town by 2:30 pm. Unfortunately, the tour that I wanted was not available to our ship. This was a waste of our time. Know what you are getting before booking.

      Cruise Excursion
Our driver Bob was waiting for us as we disembarked from our ship and we began our tour immediately. Since the weather was extremely foggy he decided to reverse our itinerary and save the Highland village visit until afternoon which was lovely. However we were not able to enjoy the views at St Anne's overlook. Our stop at the Alexander Graham Bell museum was outstanding...who knew all this man accomplished. A favorite stop as was the Highland Village where we learned about the Gaelic Folklife from knowledgeable docents. The view from the top of the village was breathtaking! Highly recommended this tour!

Missed tour: good experience with company
We did not complete the tour, our cruise ship did not dock because of weather. Not having cruised before I didn’t even realize that was a possibility. We were so disappointed! However this company refunded our money. So appreciative of their integrity. Would book with them again!

      Perfect weather day for Louisbourg.
We loved Louisbourg, although there was no one that day in June to give tours at the site. The tour company drove us there and to a local lighthouse , but there was no guided tour.

      Great time
Franco was our tour guide. She was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We had enough time at all the sights to look everything over. It was very enjoyable

      Great day w Robert!
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour w Robert. There were 8 on our tour so the tour was very flexible. Our first stop was Highland Village in Iona. It was really nicely down “living history” village. The hostesses were in costume and character. We even got homemade molasses cookies out of the cast iron oven! Next we went to the Bell museum which was very nice. We stopped for lunch in Baddeck. We loved it. Sat outside on a deck overlooking the lake. The chowder and scallops were delicious. As a bonus, it was open mike and a guitarist who was in town for the Celtic Colors Music festival was playing. All in all a great day!!!!

      Great tour for first visit
Our guide Gaston was very friendly and had lots of info about the areas we drove through and was able to answer any questions. This was a small group 6 people. So much better than a 50 person bus from the ship. The sights we visited were just what we were looking for on our first trip to Sydney with plenty of time at each place.

Do not miss a day or two with Blackwood tours!
I have just returned from Sydney, Cape Breton. I was there for a conference and had very little leisure time. I had a dream day out on Cabot Trail before the conference with the wonderful Francie from Blackwood tours. She is the best woman driver I have ever seen. She drove so peacefully that it made me want to drive like her. She was very knowledgeable and gave interesting information all along. The excursion is beautiful and worth every minute and every penny. The stops were at beautiful places, both for the morning coffee and cake as well as for lunch. The car was very clean and comfortable. In short it was a perfect day out. Thank you Robert and Francie for your kindness. I am truly grateful to you for making my stay in Sydney very special.

If it is raining in Cape Breton , or the city is fogged in , Blackwood Tours needs to cancel the tour and refund the tour fare...this was the case with us. The Cabot Trail had the same weather as the city. So very disappointed . $200 plus is a lot of money for a ride that you could not see anything. We had no choice of canceling .

Very disappointed. Tour guide was difficult to understand and was mostly interested in local politics. We basically stopped 3 times over 6 hours for a few minutes. This tour could have been cut down to 4 hours with more information about the area. I could get in any car and drive and see trees and not pay what it cost.

Not sure who I am responding to, most people like to hide behind a nickname. Also not sure what day you went on a tour.

We wanted to book this tour for our party of 10 through the cruise but it was sold out. We contacted Robert directly and he was able to accommodate our group.
Francie met us as soon as we disembarked and we were on our way. Beautiful scenery, great commentary, interesting stops (along Cabot Trail, Clucking Hen, Ingonish Beach, Keltic Village). Very enjoyable for all of us. Francie was a gracious, informative, local guide; Robert was very responsive. Thank you a wonderful day!

If it is raining in Cape Breton , or the city is fogged in don’t go down the Cabot Trail. We did and could not see a thing.
Knowing how beautiful the area is we were so disappointed.
