Just wanted to give a shout out to Meghan who was our last tour guide during our Hop On-Hop Off in Halifax. She was a great guide.

Great fun including a big splash
This was a 2 hour or so trip round Halifax in a 'duck' vehicle. It was great fun even though I was crammed at the back with my feel on ropes so it was rather uncomfortable. We went into the water with a huge splash but it was good to see the harbour from in the water and on the land. Saw all the sights in a fun vehicle.

      Let down
Gray line cancelled the tour without telling us after we checked in the previous day. We were turned away when we arrived to board. They require numbers higher than had booked. More reliable small operators are available and we had a great trip with Anchor. The road trip is interesting and Lunenburg is a great place to visit if the travel company oblige.

      NO SHOW TOUR COMPANY
I was booked and confirmed for the 6 hour Lunenburg tour on 7/18/2023 at 10:00 am. No tour bus arrived. When I called, there was no return call. Finally someone came on foot and said the tour was cancelled. He substituted a much cheaper, shorter tour. There had been a lady waiting for an 8:30 am tour and a family of four waiting for a 9:00 am tour. No tour buses ever came. Not a reliable company.

      Cancelled Late on Day Before
Tour scheduled for June 24, 2023. On June 20, Ambassatours sent a reminder. Day Before Ambassatours tourist office still selling trips. On about 3:30 pm the day before, they cancelled. Evidently they only had 5 sign-ups. Interesting because someone I met said she had gone to Peggy's Cove one or two days earlier and the trip went ahead with only her. I suppose it may depend on whichever local operator Ambassatours engaged. But very disappointing because Lunenburg special. Luckily three of us all left in the lurch contacted a taxi to take us to Lunenburg and back, with a side visit to Mahone's Bay. Only a bit more expensive than taking the tour. But very annoyed at Ambassatours for cancelling at last minute.

Guide Russel was excellent, great knowledge and great sense of humour. Very attentive and tailored the tour for participants. He was so personable it made the trip.

      Loved Lunenburg
We loved the tour guide in his kilt. He was friendly, knowledgeable and entertaining. We enjoyed our Lunenburg walk with him, and enjoyed our free time walking around much of the rest of the area. Lunenburg is beautiful. We thought Mahone Bay was a waste of time. You can't see the "Three Sister Chuches" together really from anywhere; and sorry there's not much else there to warrant that stop. It makes way more sense to do Lunenburg and Peggy's Cove. We were sorry we didn't get to Peggy's Cove on this trip.

Bob was our driver and he knows Lunenburg so well. The suggestion for lunch he gave us was absolutely delicious!!! He's very personable and knows the whole Nova Scotia area so well. You will be impressed.

      Halifax to Peggy's Cove
Took this tour with the primary purpose to get to Peggy’s Cove, but tour guide Ed filled the drive time of 1 hour each way with lots of information about Nova Scotia, Halifax, and Peggy’s Cove. Sometimes, the jokes were more prevalent than actual information, and I think most people would have enjoyed a break from the constant patter, but overall, it was a very pleasant afternoon, and I learned a lot.

      Favorite Part of Nova Scotia
Nova Scotia and Cape Breton are absolutely beautiful but our favorite drive was taking the old highway down from Halifax to Mahone Bay and Lunenburg. We stopped at Peggy’s Cove first and then turned left out of Peggy’s Cove and then turned left onto the old highway. The scenery is stunning so take lots of pictures. Mahone Bay has some great little shops and wonderful old colourful houses. Stop at “Oh My Cod” for lunch. Then on to Lunenburg is the home of the “Bluenose 11” so try to book a ride along ahead of time as it sells out well in advance. There is so much to see and o on the waterfront, great shops and restaurants and just wandering through the colourful streets.

      A very good time
The trip was enjoyable. The captain found us several sites to fish. It was a little "choppy" and we moved to a different site with better weather conditions. We didn't catch anything big but my niece and nephew enjoyed themselves.

      Enjoyable Cruise
I took an early afternoon cruise which thankfully wasn't crowded. The tour guide gave an informative history of Halifax Harbour. I generally find short tours like this well worth the cost as you can get a historical overview along with your sightseeing. This was no exception, and recommended.

      seagulls and rocks
Very poor impression of the tour. I was very disappointed as we didn't see anything, and also got sea sick because the boat was very shaky. The chances to see any sea animals equal to 0 when you keep on browsing around the coast and never go to the open ocean. Highly not recommended if you hope to see anything other than rocks, waves and seagulls.

Peggy’s Cove was an excursion from our cruise ship. Though our excursion was a bus drive from the cruise port, it was well worth the trip. The natural beauty of this cove grabbed our breaths away the minute the bus pulled off the highway. The rocks to be able to climb to get close to the lighthouse and to get various views of the shoreline were perfect. Being on a bus was a bit difficult to quickly grab something to eat and hit the gift shops. We are so happy we got to see Peggy’s Cove!

I was a solo traveller to Halifax without a car, so I had to book a tour to see Peggy’s Cove and it was so much better than I expected! On our way to and from Peggy’s cove, we can listen to the history of Nova Scotia and the time we were allowed in Peggy’s Cove was sufficient. Highly recommend!

The tour was well organized. The bus was comfortable, and the guide, can’t recall his name, but he was excellent! He was clear, no problem hearing him and he was as so informative. He talked about the history and made it so interesting, like telling a story. Loved it. The one thing that I would’ve liked is more time at the cove. Didn’t have time to walk around and see everything. So I think the tour could’ve b a n longer. Overall I give it 👍👍👍

Peggy cove was beautiful as expected from all the reviews and pictures. The drive was a good 50 min. The most inconvenience is that the pick up place for the trip was at the Maritime museum. The cruise ship Ncl Breakaway was docked near the pier 21 and it was a long and brisk walk. The tour guide was ok but mostly spoke to the people in front or maybe i couldn’t hear too well. Anyway this trip was good but will just take a taxi next time.

Hi there, Thanks for sharing this review of the Peggy's Cove Tour. We appreciate the feed back and would like to share a few things: typically, when cruise passengers purchase Peggy's Cove shore excursions from the cruise line, the bus boards just outside the cruise pier; our onboard guides usually use a microphone/PA system, when conducting a tour - if this wasn't the case, we sincerely apologize; a taxi ride will most definitely be a pricer way to get to Peggy's Cove - that, and you likely won't get much commentary (but it certainly is an option). Thanks again for sharing! We do hope you will visit Halifax again.

Beautiful vista, autumn leaves, fishing villages, etc. on the way out..

I realize this is in the hands of the Peggy's Cove people, but we did not have enough time to really enjoy any of the area except the lighthouse area, lobster demo, etc. This was great, but wanted to walk down to the carving, etc. and no time.

Took more time to "travel" to/from than we were able to spend there.

Our driver told us he couldn’t get us back in time for our ship to leave! So we could not go! I would like a refund due to the fact we were told in the app we would be back in plenty of time to board ship.

We had a great tour to Peggy’s cove. Our tour guide was very friendly, gave lots of good information and had some funny jokes along the way. A great way to see Peggy’s cove if you don’t want to rent a car. My only complaint is I would have liked another hour or two to explore the village and take in the view.

Peggy's Cove is a beautiful cove with colorful houses. You can view the lobster traps, take a tour on a boat away from the cove, visit a few shops and truly enjoy the coolness of the wind from the ocean. The large granite rocks are easy to climb. Just stay off of the black ones because they are slippery. We were warned of that ahead of time.

It's an amazingly picturesque spot with lots of lovely little shops and art galleries. Just down the road there is an excellent hike at Polly's Cove. The black rocks really are super dangerous, every year people die, do NOT go on the black rocks, once you are swept into the ocean it is hard to rescue you. Aside from the black rocks, it is beautiful and a must see if you are travelling to Halifax. The grey rocks are giant and fun to play on (and safe) and the lighthouse is a must see as well. Grab some fish and chips or a lobster roll while you're there!

Hello 01WorldTraveller86, Thanks so much for this review of the Peggy's Cove Tour. With so many great things to do in and around Peggy's Cove, it's no wonder why it's always been a must visit while in Nova Scotia. Thanks especially for the reminder about staying clear of the black rocks...as it says on the lighthouse plaque: "Savour the ocean from a distance."

Everyone says you need to visit this location and so we did. After a bumpy ride on the old bus, we arrive and the scenery is awesome. However, you get people with kids who don't pay attention to the signs telling you to not step on the slippery rocks as you can fall in when the waves come in. A boy fell in but lucky for him, he was able to get out with only losing a shoe. We purchased our tour through Trip Advisor which was convenient to purchase on-line, as they were sold out at the ticket station.
