- Jill Z0 contributionsGreat short visit to Peggy’s coveNilah was a lovely guide. She provided the small group with an appropriate amount of background on Halifax sites as we drove thriftiness town and then as we drove out to Peggy’s cove. We have enough time to explore Peggy cove before returning to Halifax.Written November 23, 2024

- P8947SOwaynes0 contributionsAwesome TripNilah was a great tour guide. She grew up here and did a great job of telling us about the area on the way to Peggy’s Cove. 90 minutes was the perfect amount of time at Peggy’s Cove - a charming fishing village with nice local stores for plenty of shopping. Crab roll was very good. Great tour.Written October 24, 2024

Thor was our driver and we enjoyed listening to him and learning about the area, etc. He also had a great sense of humor! We would book this tour again and request Thor for our driver.!Written October 23, 2024

There were 5 of us on this trip, and we had plenty of time to visit Peggy's Cove and the Swiss Air Memorial site. Thank you Cynthia, was a great tour all round.Written October 21, 2024
- debracX2984VI0 contributionsBeautiful way to experience Halifax! The tour was a beautiful experience to add to cruise memories. The drive through the city was wonderful and relaxing with a detailed narrative from our talented guide Nilah. We arrived at Peggy’s Cove just in time to see the sunset and take some pictures before a delicious lobster dinner. Our guide was knowledgeable and accommodating to our schedule which made it a flawless experience. I would highly recommend the small group tour over a larger bus tour.Written October 20, 2024
- Cowhead40 contributionsGreat Tour -- nice sights -- loved the personal service!Great tour -- direct to Peggy's cover with just our small group of 6! Personalized service and Nilah (our driver and guide) provided very nice commentary about the areas we were driving through and history of the area. Great pickup/drop off at the cruise port. Had 2 hours at Peggy's Cove which was plenty of time to see the sights, do a a little shopping and have a quick lunch on a lobster roll! Would definitely recommend!Written October 19, 2024

- vbkP810FA0 contributionsAmazing viewsBeautiful views of the coast plus on the way & back to Halifax. Great guide, Sanise was very friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. After a cold & windy hour at the cove he gave us other warmer options such as a stop at a historic & picturesque church then the titanic grave sites. We just wanted a quick visit to the Atlantic coast and this tour was perfect.Written October 17, 2024

- NeilG18170 contributionsSmall and intimateIt was small and intimate. My tour guide Nilah was very informative and patient for with us for allowing us to take photos on the way. I did the mourning tour and we were able to get there early enough before the large buses came in. It was nice having a small moment for ourselves. Thanks again Nilah for an awesome tour I will highly recommend my friend to come visit!Written October 10, 2024

Our guide Thor was relatively new conducting tours but he was local and knew everything. He was personable and funny and had endless stories about the sights we were seeing. We explored neighborhoods all over Halifax. He was well traveled and interesting and could relate to places we had been and visa versa. It was raining much of the time so we did not get out of the Honda Minivan very often but that was okay. There were just 4 of us so it was a private tour of the city and Peggy's Cove. After we got to Peggy's Cove we went off on our own for about 1.5 hours. The tour was scheduled for 4 hours but we left about 9:35AM (ship was late) and he dropped us off about 3PM. He offered to continue until closer to the departure of our ship but we were tired and ready to go back. Once again, he upheld the Trip Advisor tradition of delivering much more than we expected for a price much lower than doing the same tour through the ship with 50 of our closest friends.

We took this tour on September 13th, 2022. There were three couples and our guide Dana in the van. She was very pleasant and told us facts about Nova Scotia during the tour. It is nice being in a small group tour, rather than a big bus that the cruise ship lines up. It is cheaper and you get any question you have answered without feeling that you are boring a busload of people. We really recommend this tour to get a look at some of the interesting things of a beautiful area.

Jack, our guide was excellent and absolutely full of information. He kept up a continuous commentary for the whole trip and provided an incredible amount of background information.
It was helped by being a sunny clear day at Peggy’s Cove with virtually no one else there due to the time of year.

Our guide and driverJay is new to the area but gave us quite a lot of interesting information about the area. Besides Peggy’s Cove, we went to the graveyard of the Titanic victims whose markers were numbered and sometimes included a name. We also went to the fort in town that had an interesting exhibit about First Nation and the French and English settlers. We were also there for the 12 o’clock shooting of the cannon. We’d have preferred more time at Peggy’s Cove because we are walkers and would have liked to go into town to enjoy the homes and landscape. The drive out there was beautiful even though we had no sunshine on the changing leaves. This tour was pricey but quite a bit less than the ship’s tours which were shorter snd included fewer stops. Well worth the cost and time.

I wanted to enjoy this tour, and our guide truly did his best to make it worthwhile, but two main issues held me back from giving a glowing review.
First, our guide was delayed due to traffic, which unfortunately impacted the timing of our entire itinerary. By the time we reached Peggy's Cove, we encountered large crowds from two other bus groups. I had to wait in a long line for the restroom, and there was no time to grab a bite to eat. Later, we arrived at the Titanic gravesite just before sunset, which felt rushed.
Additionally, an older woman sitting next to the guide turned the experience into her own personal tour. She continuously asked questions, leaving little opportunity for the rest of us to engage with the guide.
The tour’s itinerary itself was excellent, and we managed to see everything we had hoped to. However, I feel like we missed out on a fuller experience due to these setbacks.

Just okay. Our guide was very nice and knowledgeable about the history but I felt like I was in a history class.
I feel information could have been presented in a more fun way!
After all we were on vacation.
Van is a Honda odyssey and if you have to sit in the third row you better be thin and flexible to jump in and out. I feel the time spent at the cove is too short.

It would have been “0” if that rating was available.
I reserved the tour several weeks ago and received my confirmation. The evening (6:30 pm) before I arrive In Halifax on my cruise ship, I received my reconfirmation. However, at 10:30 pm that same evening, I received a cancelation from the company, the reason was: they were overbooked. No alternative choice was given and it was too late for me to find another tour in such short notice.

Disappointed as we had a young Guide take us to the Cove. Very little interaction in general discussions, but they knew the Subject and also the Titanic Cemetery visit. Just silence, despite attempting to engage, between destinations.
. Would have expected more interchange of life in Nova Scotia as we travelled there and back.

Our guide met us outside the cruise ship terminal, not hard to find at all. He had a sign that matched the email they sent me the day before to advise details. It was a nice 7 seater van plus the driver- we were full. Went to Peggy Cove first- he gave us a running commentary on history and so many things all morning long. Had time to look around and take pics of the lighthouse etc. I was late and he came to find me :-). Then went to Titanic cemetery and he walked with us and was a wealth of info. Then to Citadel- he gave us time there. Several of us asked to be dropped off down by the wharf and I wanted to eat another Lobster Roll and then walk the Maritime Museum which is a great deal for $10!

Thor was our tour guide on a small van with 6 total passengers. Thor is very knowledgeable about the area. He told many stories about historical events, took us to out of the way locations and was very easy to have a conversation with during the tour. We were on NCL and he picked us up at the pier. When I was able to turn on wifi right before we disembarked, I received a detailed text about pick up info.
Highly recommend this tour.

our cruise does not arrive until 9am which is the time the tour departs. Is it possible to coordinate this tour for us?

They pick you up at your hotel either in the morning or afternoon. Because of this they will text or e-mail you with the exact time the van will be by. For me it was 9:00.

I have the same question as I am coming into Halifax on a cruise also. I am sure we wouldn't get off the ship til 9:30 -10 am, at the earliest.

My Booking Ref# is BR-726508936. Klaus and Gisela Seibert. We will arrive by Royal Caribbean "Adventure of the Sea" at 9:00 am on October 2, 2019. Your tour "Best of Halifax" starting at 9:00 am. Your pick up is at the Best Westin Hotel correct?
If the ship docks at 9:00 am and we need to go to the Best Westin Hotel to meet the Tour at the same time the ship docks, how can this be? Also, how far is the Hotel from the pier?
