- C7000FCalanb00Wonderful Wine and Cheese Tour with Great Tour Guide ColleenWe recently had a great, fun afternoon touring wineries in Nova Scotia with amazing tour guide Collen. Colleen was extremely personable, engaging and funny. She also was exceptionally knowledgeable about both the area and the wines it produces. If you have a chance to go on a wine tour out of Halifax with Colleen of Grape Escapes, do so. It is sure to be one of the most enjoyable and memorable parts of your entire trip.
- sarahrayp00Grape Escapees Halifax via Holland America LineI was intensely impressed with the knowledge of our tour guide / bus driver, Colleen. Her knowledge of the history of the areas, wine country’s attributes, local lore, and experiences were top notch! I learned more than I ever expected and am thankful for having landed on this cruise excursion out of Halifax, NS, Canada through Holland America Line.
- Escape1082179225800First class all the way! This was our second year with this wine tour company and as we expected it didn’t disappoint. Our driver Steve was excellent in showing and speaking of Halifax history and the surrounding regions. He was very informed about each winery we were visiting and the wines we were tasting. The bus ride was comfortable with air conditioning and comfortable seating. Have nothing but good things to say about this tour. First class all the way!
- tapdancer7700Wonderful tour!Colleen was an excellent host on my wine tour of the Annapolis Valley. She was knowledgeable, funny, and was a great host explaining the history and vinticulture of the Grand Pre and Gaspereau Valleys. I would highly recommend this tour and Colleen!

- MDStravel202200A great tour and easy to make it happen from idea to realityOur Evening Escape wine tour was great! Easy to book, work out details with the GE team, modify things when needed, easily share costs with the group of friends through the booking directly and most of all so much fun! Colleen was the tour leader and driver and was wonderful- providing all the info we needed and accommodating the group. We had a perfect fall afternoon and evening and will do it again before too long. The wineries were welcoming and interesting as always and a treat to sample the NS wines and ciders. Thanks GE!
- meganmG4177LU00Great tourColleen was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and made the experience fun. Wineries were beautiful and lunch delicious!
- 60thspecialbirthday00Superb!!!What a fabulous tour, with our great tour guide Colleen. She was very informative, fun and played super tunes in the van, in between historical commentary. Our group was a lot of fun engaging in conversation while enjoying the wine tasting. The tour day itself was terrific, visiting 3 superb wineries. My favorite was Benjamin Bridge. Lunch in Wolfville, delicious. A must do when in Halifax.

We booked a 5 hour tour with Colleen as our guide who was fabulous and very knowledgeable. What a lovely surprise regarding the quality of the wines and how lovely the wine region is. If you do not get out of the main city you are missing out!
The first wine stop, Domaine Grand Pre’ was amazing. I would strongly recommend pouring the wine and THEN starting the winery presentation. After driving an hour to the first location, we had to wait, standing 20 minutes BEFORE getting our first sip. This gave us ZERO time to order a glass and shop at the end. A huge revenue miss for the venue. I really wanted a full glass and time to shop before we had to leave the winery. Huge bummer.
Last winery on the tour was also exceptional, Gaspereau, where the host jumped right into the tastings, giving us time to order wine and snacks and enjoy the view,
Overall well worth the money!

I could not speak more highly of this specific tour. First of all our tour guide, Colleen, was amazing!! She was so fun and friendly and even catered the tour to the groups needs by letting the group control the music, including an extra sight seeing stop and stoping at a local market! She also got to know us all and made an effort to know everyone’s names.
In terms of the tour, the vineyards are all beautiful and gave good portions of wine. They also gave the group enough time for questions, wandering around, and checking out the gift shop- I never felt rushed which I liked. Not to mention, the lunch was 5 STAR! I was shocked compared to other wine tours I researched as they gave you a gourmet appetizer and meal, alongside a glass of wine. On the menu that day was halibut with a nice pasta underneath or lamb with garlic mashed potatoes. Since I am a very picky eater I asked the waitress if they had chicken and they even made the substitute- such great service!
I highly highly recommend this wine tour. The group was super friendly and all of the staff were AMAZING!!

Our tour was absolutely amazing! Colleen was incredible, she was very informative and kept the group engaged with her great sense of humor. The quantities and qualities of wines we tasted far exceeded our expectations. The 3 vinyards were absolutely gorgeous and made for a fantastic 50th Birthday present for my husband. So glad we booked this tour and would highly recommend it to anyone!

JD was an outstanding host/driver/guide from the very start and throughout the entire trip. He entertained us with local history and cultural lore, and he educated us on the history and craft of wine production in our unique maritime region. We visited three amazing wineries in the Annapolis Valley and sampled a savoury array of whites, rosés & reds that left us wanting more. Fortunately, we were able to stock up on some of our favorites to share with family & friends back home. Our lunch and beverage at the Church in Wolfville was fantastic. We fully enjoyed the experience, a first for all of us, and thank you to JD for his wit, humour and colourful tales from Grape Escapes past! Warm regards, Claude

Wow, a fantastic tour of several wineries in Nova Scotia. We were picked up at the Marriott Waterfront in Halifax, a short walk from the hotel we were staying at. Immediately upon meeting our guide/driver, Colleen, I had the sense this was going to be a very good day.
On the little more than an hour drive out to the valley, Colleen fed us historical, geographical, viticultural, and driving facts. Colleen has a great sense of humour and made this fun by quizzing the group. The group, who were strangers for the most part, really gelled during that ride.
The first stop was Benjamin Bridge winery. We were ushered into a private tasting area. A member of the Benjamin Bridge staff gave us the history of the winery and described the production methods used. We tasted 3 wines the NV Brut, Pet Nat, and the Wild Rock. After the tasting we have time to walk out in the vineyards, buy wine, and purchase Jamaican food from a food truck onsite. On to Grand Pre winery to taste 5 wines - Ortega, Tidal Bay, Marquette, Castel, and Pomme D’or ice cider. The final winery visited was Luckett which included lunch and a tasting of 5 wines. The lunch was sandwiches, preselected when booking the tour, with a salad. The lunch was very good. The wines tried at Luckett were Tidal Bay, Ortega, Traditional Method, Rose Fizz, and Triumphe.
At all locations we had ample time after tasting to walk the grounds, take pictures, and buy wine. Colleen even did a short side trip on the way back to Halifax to allow some of the group to buy pie. She even had a mix tape playing that the group was singing to, remember we’d had a few glasses of wine. Colleen was a fantastic guide.
I highly recommend doing a tour with Grape Escapes. Next time I’m back in Halifax I’ll try one of their other tours.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Wine and Lunch Escape tour in early November. Randy, our driver, was very friendly and gave us lots of information about the history of the area, various local wineries and other places of interest as we drove along. The bus was very clean and comfortable and the three wineries selected for the tour were lovely. The staff at wineries we visited were all friendly and knowledgable and we very much enjoyed tasting the selections provided by each one. Lunch at the Church Brewing Company in Wolfville was included and as our meals had been preordered, we didn't wait long to be served. Our lunches were excellent and use of the beautiful old church building is really interesting. We were fortunate to go on a lovely sunny day and also enjoyed our time on the bus and at lunch chatting with the other participants. It was a great day and we would highly recommend this tour. The wineries on the tour were Grand Pre, Benjamin Bridge and Planters Ridge.

Amazing time! Our driver Randy went above and beyond for our group and we really appreciated it and highly recommend having him do your tour! One of the girls on our tour was pregnant and he made sure to get her an alcoholic free beverage at each stop! Even took the time to let us set up music on the drive and listen to 11 girls singing and dancing along with us! You definitely won’t be disappointed!

Overall, this tour was lots of fun , mainly due to JD.. very animated and professional.
He was a wealth of information and kept us laughing (however after a few hours, we didn't need anybody to make us laugh.. Wine does that sometimes.
We sat in the front seat and i felt he was taking great care to keep us safe. He shared information with us at the same time ensuring that he got us there safely.
The lunch was quite good , all of the winery people where friendly and professional, eager to answer all of our questions.
I did hear from someone that there are better wineries that offer better wines, which were not part of the tour. This may due to those places may not entertain groups.
We did taste one red which was a little vinegary , but this region is not strong in its reds. If you don't like white wine, i would avoid this tour... ...

Thank you for your review. JD is one of our great team of tours guides and takes pride in what he does. Our public tours have set routes but if you book a private tour in the future we do take requests for the wineries you prefer and try to accommodate you. We hope to see you again soon.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and personable, and the bus ride was comfortable. There were three stops and one was Luckett’s which also included the lunch. For the price which cost $200 a person, two of the wineries were wonderful and the experience and tastings to match. But Lucketts was a disappointment, and because lunch was included, I assume cost the majority of the price. The experience was rushed, not so personal and the food was awful. I’ve been to lucketts on my own a few times, and this was a disappointment. As a result, I wouldn’t recommend. It’s not worth the money. You can do on your own and it would cost less and you would have a better experience.
