We enjoyed a wonderful gathering of 12 friends aboard the JFarwell last night. In the hours prior to the cruise, we were anxiously on weather watch, concerned that evening showers might dampen our fun! But we needn't have worried. All aspects of this tour were perfect from start to finish: from the crew's warm welcome, to the comfy seating under the vessel's awning, to the wine & cheese, and, of course, expert sailing of the vessel. Our tour of the Halifax harbour was fantastic - it rained like crazy several times during the cruise but could still see all the sights while completely comfortable, dry and cozy outside under the awning. Friends from both out of province and in province were wowed by the calibre of this tour: by the comfort & elegance of the vessel and the friendliness of the crew. We truly had a fantastic and memorable evening. We're now looking for another excuse to board the JFarwell again in the near future - rain or shine!

Captain Gilmore and her deck crew were professional and courteous while also lighthearted and fun. The wine, cheese, sunset, views and the beauty of sailing on the Atlantic Ocean was absolutely wonderful. Couldn’t recommend it more highly.

Went on the Wine and Cheese Sunset Sail. What a wonderful experience. Crew were professional, knowledgeable and entertaining. Was pleased that the wines were all Nova Scotian and excellent, charcuterie was locally sourced. Sailing was glorious. This was a not to be missed experience. 5 stars +++

$296/couple got us a motorized 2 hour tour of Halifax Harbour in total FOG!! This tour SHOULD have been cancelled by the Tour Company, this was a total money grab. The only enjoyable part was the 4 different small glasses of wine served (although, the server didn’t know too much details about the wines) and we were given a small portion (a 6”x6”separated square on a tray, per couple). The Tour Guide/Sailor offered to put up a Sail so we could see that at least, and did, but we were always “sailing” by motor. We couldn’t see anything, just heard the motor…a waste of money & time.

It would be an understatement to say that reading this review is heartbreaking. I promise that the connection we try to provide onboard is, in no way, a money grab, and I am so sorry you felt this way.
As a small business, it is very disappointing to see a review like this without having the opportunity to speak with you about your concerns, either before or after the sail. I would really appreciate the opportunity to connect with you directly to find solution for you. I cannot find your reservation under your review name - but please do not hesitate to phone or email us.
We do have a standard 24 hour cancellation policy, but also happily provide refunds or rescheduling within that time period as well. We are a small team of real people - we would never force someone to go on a sail in weather they are not excited for. With waitlists and limited availability, we do try to honour our departure times for those that truly want to go.
Again, I do hope we can connect with you and make things right.

Take a different approach and sail in the evening down the inlet in a sailboat, sipping wine and watching the sunset. Also, meeting other people was fun. By the end of the tour, we were all great friends lol. The crew was very professional and I always felt I was in good hands. This is a must do!

Fantastic evening cruise with gorgeous sunset! The crew were professional and the captain (Kirsty) was so knowledgeable. The wine and cheese was well done and delicious! What a beautiful boat and amazing scenery down the Northwest Arm. We will be back!

Couldn’t have asked for a more perfect evening and sunset sail! It was in October but not to worry, they came equipped with lots of blankets for everyone to keep warm and cozy. The wine samples and cheese and crackers were so delicious, and our captain Kirsty and deckhand Paul were so personable and lovely. Could not recommend more! Can’t wait to go back :)

Andrew & crew were helpful, informative and fun to be around. Scenery was spectacular. The boat was a perfect size for 11 of us. Awesome experience at sunset viewing lovely houses and parks. Perfect amount of wine. Food selection was underwhelming - bread basket boring & we expected more & better cheese. Lose the stale popcorn topping.

We had an absolutely fantastic evening sailing with J Farwell. The crew was engaging and very friendly and Sarah was extremely accommodating with rescheduling due to weather issues. I highly recommend J Farwell if you have the opportunity to sail with them. I can't say enough about how great they were to deal with! Absolutely worth it!!! Definitely a must!!!!

Booking was easy and convenient. We had to reschedule our original appointment as it was raining heavily on the day. Sarah and Emma were very helpful via phone & email.
Our rescheduled date was Sunday, and the weather wasn't great again. I contacted Sarah, but she said that the tour would go ahead. At this point, there was very little hope for a sunset.
The tour itself was very good. The crew was knowledgeable and outgoing and the wine was very decent. They also had beer and spirits available. The quality of the cheese platter isn't something to write home about, but nothing to complain about either.
Overall a very decent experience. Of course, it is extremely weather-dependent and I guess we just had bad luck.
Our rescheduled date was Sunday, and the weather wasn't great again. I contacted Sarah, but she said that the tour would go ahead. At this point, there was very little hope for a sunset.
