Halifax Waterfront Discovery Tour by Foot
A fabulous tour of Halifax’s waterfront and surrounding historical buildings. Coming from the “Left” coast, I have a great appreciation for the long and storied maritime history for one of Canada’s beachheads to the new world. Fascinating to learn about the Halifax explosion and the city’s connection to the Titanic. Thank you Glenn!

I cannot begin to say the disappointment I had with this company. We were at the meet up location after driving over an hour from the other side of Peggy’s Cove and having booked this when we were at home in Ontario only to have our guide be a no show. Yes it just happened to be the day of the big Rogers outage and we had no way to call them, thank goodness for the service we received at the Museum of Immigration who used their personal phones to get in touch with the company. They also gave us tips on where to walk on our own, which we ended up doing. Yes mistakes do happen and we did get our money back but it just happened to be the owner of the company that was supposed to have been our guide and we feel like we were totally dismissed after planning this east coast trip for 3 years. One star was for the apology that he gave us but didn’t make up for the gas wasted and time wasted let alone the knowledge we would have gotten on the great city of Halifax.

Our guide was or at least appeared to be a little disorganized. Many of the details she provided were questionable and she seemed unsure of her own answers at times. She did what most guides do and recommended a couple of restaurants along the way, but she acknowledged she had never tried them. The biggest distractor was her ongoing issue with wasps which frequently interrupted the tour. Personal opinions about recent 'cancel culture' BS doesn't have a place in this kind of tour.

We had a lovely day out with Carmen, and couldn’t get enough of her lovely Swiss accent! Halifax is quite hilly so be sure of your fitness before embarking. The map
At the Westin was an GREAT starting point! You should know that the tour culminates with a cannon blast at the Citadel at noon, so if loud noises are triggering, take earplugs and be mentally prepared. We followed one of Carmen’s pro-tips AFTER the tour, and doubled back for a tea and treat in the 4th floor library cafe overlooking the bay. Wonderful new library alive with children and families!
We enjoyed the tour and learned a lot about the history of NS and Halifax.

Duncan was a great guide with a wealth of knowledge about Halifax. The tour had a nice mix of stops to gave you an excellent overview of the history of Halifax. They had an issue and were not able to operate the tour on the day I had scheduled but they texted me and were able to reschedule for the next day. When I showed up, to my surprise, I had a private tour. I imagine they do not do that often so I appreciate them still offering the tour even though I was the only one there. I highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting Halifax.

We stepped off our cruise ship and immediately located our meeting point and our guide, Glenn. We had a small group of only 6 and began our leisurely stroll through town. Glenn provided lots of great historical information but at pace that wasn't overwhelming. The route to and from the Citadel (entrance is not included in this tour) was good and probably not one we would have selected just looking at the map. Loved our visit and hope to return to Halifax one day.

Glen was a fantastic guide. First of all, he had a great booming voice, so you could always hear him. He had his own long history in Halifax, and he also knew everything he needed to know about Halifax to provide an excellent tour of Halifax and its history as we covered the town. Very friendly guy, too.

My guide was Carmen and she had the most delightful Swiss accent!! She was very knowledgeable about the area we toured. I was lucky enough to have her all to myself as the two others who had booked were no shows. She was very easy to converse with and I felt really comfortable asking her questions.
I would definitely recommend a guided walking tour as you have so much time to see everything around you...
A great experience overall.

The walking tour was great. Very informative. The guide was well versed and very entusiastic. She set the walking pace for the group so no one was left behind and everyone was happy. Highly recommend it.

Carmen, our guide, was very pleasant and knowledgeable of the history of Halifax. We walked the wharf, visited the Old Burying Ground, the Citadel, and the Public Garden. Learned of many historical happenings and people throughout time in Halifax. We had ample time to snap pix and had a rest stop halfway thru the walk. A very reasonably priced activity that I would recommend to anyone with an interest in history.

Ian was a very knowledgeable guide! Being in a small group was great except that the other 3 members of our group of 5 were elderly, one had on unsupportive sandals, and 2 were hardly able to walk much less go up hills and steps! Ian was thoughtful in suggesting a cab on a couple of occasions but they declined. It was challenging to wait on these 3 almost every step of the way! I feel like my husband and I could have seen more if we had not been so encumbered. I wish there was a way to require an ability to walk at a moderate speed for one to take this tour.
