          Great tour
This tour reaches Peggy's Cove after about 1 hour drive as first stop. The small fisherman village is known for the big flat rocks and the lighthouse. It is a "must have seen". During our visit in the autumn it was not too crowded. We stayed about 1,5 hour there. The modern car was equipped with 14 seats and we were 12 passengers. The driver/local guide was excellent and gave us a lot of information during the drive. The second stop was a the Titanic cemetery. It was quite an experience to be there. Our guide joined the group at the cementary where he explained a lots of details about some of the grave stones. Eventually, we returned after 4,5 hours to Halifax.

          Peggy’s Cove and Titanic Cemetery
Our Viator booked Anchor Tour with Ron was excellent It was easily booked and when our ship was delayed it was easy to contact them and change tour time. Ron was. wealth of knowledge about Halifax and its history and also about the beautiful, post card perfect, Peggy’s Cove. So happy we could see the light house and the charming homes and lobster boats. There was even a bagpiper there! Ron pointed out summer homes of stars on the cove on our way back and gave us lots more info. We stopped at Fair View Cemetery to see graves of Titanic victims. Ron gave us lots of interesting facts about the ship, the disaster and some of the passengers. Excellent tour that we highly recommend!! .

          We learned a lot
Great tour and Gary was very informative. We learned a lot and he kept us engaged the entire car ride from downtown Halifax to Peggy’s cove. The titanic cemetery is also a must see. Highly recommend this half day tour for people traveling with children.

          Fantastic tour
We found Anchor Tours to be a very professional tour company and responsive to emails. Reg picked us up at the port and was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Reg provided us with a history of Halifax on our way to Peggy’s Cove. It was misty but we enjoyed our stop there as well as a lobster roll at close by Tom’s. On our way back to Halifax, Reg told the story of the Halifax explosion of 1917. He is a born storyteller and made the history come alive….a rare talent. We drove around the Halifax Citadel National Historic Site but did not go in due to my husband’s physical limitations . Just the outside was impressive however. The Titanic grave site at Fairview Lawn Cemetery was our last stop. It is a beautiful and serene site. Reg described the blunders that were made which resulted in so many lives being lost. Even the headstones there tell a story. We enjoyed our tour with Reg and we’re happy to have located Anchor Tours.

          Do not book!
Do not book with Anchor tours unless you want to be left high and dry when they cancel on you with one days notice. I find them to be highly unethical in how they handled my booking. They were all too happy to take my money and hold it for a month but cancel at the last minute leaving me scrambling. If they could not do the tour they should have let me know further in advance.

          Beautiful
Great half day tour of Peggy’s Cove and the Titanic gravesite. Our tour guide Jeff, was friendly and very informative. We learned about the history of Peggy’s cove & some of the life stories of the Titanic victims. A local gentleman was playing the bagpipes at the cove, which was beautiful. Halifax was one of our cruise ports so we appreciated the tour sticking to schedule. We still had time to visit downtown Halifax and the Maritime musuem afterwards. The smaller tour group was much more enjoyable than the larger bus cruise excursions. Would definitely recommend.

          Refund policy.
Due to an unscheduled business meeting, I had to cancel my tour. There was no refund offered. I would suggest that you book with a tour company that offers a better cancellation policy. … just in case. There are many that offer a 24 hour prior to the tour full refund, not 72 hour that they have.

          Great even for kids
Great easy going tour that kids liked also, very friendly and detailed oriented guide, great work. MY kids left wanting to learn more about the history of the titanic, the free roam of the light house was great after a brief history of the villiage we were able to walk freely

Great half day tour in Halifax
We just had a very enjoyable, half day tour with Anchor tours and tour guide Jeff. We booked the half day Peggy’s Cove and titanic cemetery out of Halifax. First of all communication could not have been better. Jeff sent several emails beforehand explaining exactly where to meet up with him and his tour van. Luckily, it was right outside the cruise ship terminal, so it was very easy to find. Once at Peggy’s Cove, we were given an hour to roam around the village. This was plenty of time to see the lighthouse, get something to eat, and take photos of the cute village. Peggy’s Cove was a bit crowded because of other groups being there but it was still a pleasant visit. Afterwords, we stopped off at the cemetery that has some titanic victims. I didn’t expect to enjoy this part of the tour, but Jeff was very insightful, explaining to us about the disaster, the recovery, and some of the people buried there. I highly recommend this tour which was about half the price of the cruise ship excursion.

Amazing tour of the Annapolis Valley
My husband and I really enjoyed the tour of the Annapolis valley that we did with Anchor Tours with Jeff as our tour guide. We learnt a lot about the area. The scenery was beautiful. We went to Hall’s Harbour which is along the Bay of Fundy. It was low tide when we were there. It was amazing to watch the tide come back in for a little while. We had lunch at Lucketts Vineyards. What beautiful views! My husband and I shared the charcuterie plate. then off to Grand Pre National Historic site where we learnt more about the expulsion of the Acadians. I really liked the small group aspect of the tour and Jeff’s knowledge of the area.

This is a wonderful, relaxing experience for anyone travelling solo, couples, family, or a small group visiting Halifax, who want to explore Peggy’s Cove and Lunenburg without the hassle of driving or tourist traps.

I’m grateful to our tour guide/chauffeur Reg, who is a very kind, accommodating, and funny gentleman. As a former teacher, he’s talented in making educational information entertaining. On our way to Peggy’s Cove and Lunenburg, he filled us in with the historical background, fun facts and anecdotes, recommendations for must-sees and restaurants/cafes, etc., with a personal touch. When we arrived in Lunenburg, he first drove us around the town so that we know where things are, and then he gave us plenty of time to explore on our own. There wasn’t a dull moment, and I didn’t feel rushed. Importantly, unlike many other tour groups I had joined, this one is not trying to sell us anything, which I really appreciate.

The group is small ( <10 people), and the ride was cozy. Reg picked us up and dropped us off at various hotels/inns across Halifax, which made it convenient for a backpacker like me. We finished picking up everyone from Halifax at around 9 am and returned to Halifax at about 5 pm. The whole trip took 1 hour longer than planned because there was an accident on the way to Peggy’s Cove so we were stuck in a traffic jam for a while. But Reg was very accommodating so we didn’t lose any time at Peggy’s Cove, even though that meant he had to work 1 more hour. Of course, Reg asked everyone’s consent before making that decision to spend more time on the trip. It was a group decision.

Overall, to me this was a perfect balance between the convenience of a group tour and the flexibility/freedom of a DIY trip. I recommend it if you are visiting Halifax and have 1 day to spare and want to explore Lunenburg and Peggy’s Cove.

The scenery, Lunenburg and Peggy’s Cove were beautiful. The amount of time in both locations was just about right, and we could not have hoped for more glorious autumn weather. However as we were the last pickup of the morning the only seats available were the back row of the van. Not only are these seats smaller than the others but the ones on each side have a huge wheel arch taking up the space where you’d normally put your feet. It was extremely uncomfortable and only bearable because luckily the tour wasn’t quite full on the day we went. If we’d known we’d definitely have gone to one of the early pickup spots to ensure getting a decent seat. It’s not like we were paying less than the rest of the group. Our driver/guide Reg, was very informative and started out by acknowledging the Mi’kmaq, the long time inhabitants of this land, which we appreciated. However his retelling of the Swiss Air crash seemed unnecessarily detailed and could have been difficult for some guests to endure. Overall a good day out.

Once we booked our trip to Halifax, the next order of business was to look into tours. I did a lot of research and realized that Anchor Tours was exactly what we were looking for. They offer a variety of tours with plenty to see at a relaxed pace. After all, who wants to rush while on vacation? As a result, we booked three tours.
We first went on the Peggy’s Cove-Halifax Tour. It was fantastic, we saw a lot, and Jeff provided lots of commentary on the various places we were visiting. While there was an official itinerary for the tour, our tour guide made changes as the day continued to ensure a better overall experience.
Next up was our tour to Annapolis Valley and the Bay of Fundy. It was interesting but not my personal favourite. Still, Reg, our guide for the day, was also very knowledgeable, full of interesting facts about what we saw. The visit to Luckett Winery was great, but we could have used more time there to sample the products. Also, I would not have been disappointed if we had missed Halls Harbour. Grand Pre was definitely the day’s highlight, and I think everyone should visit to learn about Canada’s history.
The final tour saw Jeff lead our group to Lunenburg and Mahone Bay. I would have loved to have stayed longer in Lunenburg and bypassed the last stop. That’s just me, though, as other people on our tour seemed to enjoy Mahone Bay.
Overall, Jeff and Reg made our trip come alive. We were not just seeing places and sites but learning about them. That’s what makes a great tour.
My only regret, we’ve taken all their main tours, so there will be no new ones if and when we return.

AWFUL experience ! We were asked to change our tour date to the Sunday instead of the original Saturday. Now we know why..we were last to get picked up and sadly I was squished at the back of the mini van in seats that were designed for 6 year olds. I am 5'5, 130 pounds and was packed between an unfamiliar man and two women. My hubby offered to change seats but he would have suffered more. After our return to the mini bus in Lunenburg I went to sit at the front of the van where the seats were roomy and was told by the tour guide that I was not allowed to. So I suffered shoulder and back pain as the awful tour continued squished at the back of this crowded mini van. When booking this trip make sure to confirm that the mini bus is not fully booked and you are not the last hotel for pick up. Travelling to Halifax in May requires all of your winter gear...Canada goose coat, warm hats, gloves and scarves. The duration of the tour was way too long. Lunenburg only requires 30 min maximum to walk around as it is so small...Peggy's Cove which is really really windy only requires a quick walk to the lighthouse, so about 15 min maximum. We spent more time in squishy mini van driving than at the actual sites. First thing I did when we returned was to get a massage for my injured shoulder and back. I'd like a refund for this awful experience.

If I remember correctly, you were asked to re-schedule your tour to Sunday as we didn't have sufficient bookings on Saturday to hold the tour, and we would have been forced to cancel your reservation. I'm sorry that you felt uncomfortable and that is regrettable. I need to correct you on some of your comments. The vehicle you were in was not a mini-van. It was a (14) passenger touring van that offers superior comfort and space compared to other smaller vehicles. We purchased these vehicles with customer comfort in mind. When you attempted to take someone else's seat without asking first, you can expect someone to speak up on behalf of the person you are infringing on. That's when I stepped in and asked you to take your oringal seat. Had you explained that you were feeling physical discomfort and would like to change seating positions, I would have made every attempt to accommodate you. You failed to indicate that was the situation. All of our tour itineraries are spelled out in detail in writing and discussed prior to the start of the tour while in the tour vehicle. You're entitled to your opinion regarding the time spent on location but you're definitely in the minority. For those of you who are reading the response to this review, please take a look at the many satisfied customers who left reviews indicating that the tour is well timed and managed. It's regrettable you didn't enjoy your day with us. I only wish you'd chosen to be upfront with us with your physical discomfort so that we would have been able to actually do something about it. I'm sure your experience would have been different had you chose to do so.

        Such an enjoyable day !
Everything ran smoothly from pick up to drop off,Reg our driver and guide had so much information to share with us the drive to Lunenburg was a treat. When we arrived in both Lunenburg and Peggy’s cove Reg made suggestions where to eat and which way would be best to walk ( downhill ) We give Reg and Anchor Tours 100% score. He is a retired teacher and it came across in a good way.Unfortunately for us Anchor tours had to cancel our tour to Annapolis Valley which I am sure we would have enjoyed just as much.

While we were in Halifax for the Canada Day weekend we spent the day with Anchor Tours on a full day excursion to Lunenburg & Peggy's Cove. Reg our tour guide was amazing! So full of knowledge and history of the area he brought so much more to the tour! He was amazing. They picked us up right at our hotel and right on time. The tour of these two iconic locations was fantastic and they provided us with plenty of time to wander around at our own pace, get lunch and see all the things we wanted. The tour group was small which is much better then being loaded onto the large buses! We would highly recommend Reg and Anchor Tours looking to do anything while in the Halifax area!

The tour itself was great and well timed. Beautiful sites. Terrific tour guide. There were, however, 14 of us on the tour and as a result the long rides were extremely uncomfortable. There should NOT. have been more than 12-13 guests in the van. I got stuck in the back bench with three other people with one leg up on the wheel well and the edge of the seat digging into my back.

This was a fantastic tour! Our driver, Reg, was professional, punctual, friendly and very knowledgeable about the sites we visited and Nova Scotia in general. There is a lot to see in both locations so you probably won't get to do it all, but Reg will advise you in advance about the highlights to help you narrow down your options. I would highly recommend taking this tour, especially if this is your first visit to Nova Scotia.

Reg, our driver and guide, was a wealth of information, very personable and friendly. We really enjoyed learning more of the history of Nova Scotia from him as we drove through the countryside, although we’d probably choose a different kind of experience next time: getting a rundown of pertinent information ahead of time and then getting dropped off to “explore” on our own for a couple of hours was more of a choose your own adventure than we would have liked. We are older travelers and felt we were limited in our experiences by mobility issues. It was not helpful to hear “you should definitely check out this church on the top of the hill” only to be dropped off at the bottom of the hill, for example. Not everyone can simply hike up a couple of blocks to find that street full of great places to get lunch. I would still highly recommend this tour, however, for those fit and independent enough to fully enjoy it. You will have a great time!

Peggy's Cove and Lunenburg Tour (small group): Great day trip. Jeff was our driver and very knowledgeable tour guide. He even went full encyclopedia when I asked if he could talk about the horrendous Halifax explosion of 1917 as he drove from Lunenburg to Peggy’s Cove. He went above and beyond. A very enjoyable day and the destinations were well worth visiting. Just one suggestion: maybe subtract a little bit of time (20 minutes) off the Lunenburg part to give to the Peggy’s Cove part, as navigating the path to the lighthouse, taking in the vistas, possibly chowing down a delicious lobster roll, and visiting the shops could benefit from a little more time. Otherwise, 2 thumbs up for the tour! Thanks, Jeff!
