About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- edwardcA6716IG0 contributionsBig disappointmentThis was an expensive 3 hour boat cruise that was not worth the $ 150 we paid individually. The cruise itself was okay, the emcee was okay, the live music was okay. The meal was terrible. The charcuterie snack was average, the salad was good but my vegetable polenta was cold, over spiced and basically a tasteless mush. The pumpkin pie dessert was good. To top it off the coffee served was cold not even warm. The waitress was always pushing for us to buy additional stuff and when it came to serving she could not even remember who order what!Written October 18, 2024
- barbarahJ8809QB0 contributionsWorst boat tour ever! The worst boat tour ever, we went on the 3 hour tour out of Gananoque and couldn't wait for it to be over. There were far too many passengers on the boat, much more than could be seated. After boarding we inquired about the lack of seating and that people shouldn't be expected to stand for 3 hours. We were told that people often migrate from their seats to the deck or other areas of the boat and that would free up seats. NOT so, yes people did leave their seats but would leave a member of their group there to hold the seats for them. Also, the many people that were standing blocked the view for many other people that were seated or standing. The poor sound quality of the speakers, the number of people continuously talking and the many very young children running around made it impossible to hear the highlights of the tour. This could have been a better experience if the number of passengers were limited, perhaps having two tours a day. Overall, this was a terrible waste of time and money and i would discourage anyone from taking this tour.Written October 14, 2024
- C9749EEnataliar0 contributionsI don't recommend it, the staff is not supportive.Today, I attended the 10:30 AM boat tour with my 87-year-old grandmother who has limited mobility. We arrived at 10:27, the boat was still there, and the ramp to access the boat was still in place. The captain said we could board, but another staff member came and said we couldn't because boarding starts at 10:10. I then went to the ticket office and explained the situation. They said they could only exchange the ticket for another 2:00 PM tour if the request had been made 24 hours in advance. I felt that the staff showed a lack of goodwill, as the boat hadn't left yet and the ramp was still in place, both on the boat and on the sidewalk.Written August 22, 2024
- Stephanie M0 contributionsPleasant but lackingThe serving staff and crew were great, and the experience was a very relaxing cruise on a beautiful day. Unfortunately 40 minutes into a 3 hr cruise the snacks Like Popcorn , nachos etc were sold out! While not the fault of the staff, the experience was a little dampened because while waiting to depart and again upon arrival the enclosed areas were filled with wasps. We killed 6 at our table and it made it uncomfortable for many especially those with children.Written August 22, 2024
- 824valerief0 contributionsDinner CruiseWent on a sunset dinner cruise on the Island Star. Staff are great, food is good (we both had the beef) and views are amazing. Would have liked a bit more information about the different locations and we went by. Live entertainment catered to more of a Boomer crowd with 60s, 70s, 80s music. Drinks and gratuities are extra -- good to keep in mind as base price of this tour is higher overall given the food and length of trip. Also would be good to announce info about washroom facilities in the intro.Written July 31, 2024
- paullK1017LA0 contributionsKingston Discovery CruiseBooking the Kingston cruise online was a breeze, but I missed the priority booking option until I arrived and saw two lines. They should definitely have someone there 30 minutes early to direct traffic and answer questions. Once aboard, we found some cozy seats on the upper deck, but they were limited. The entire cruise was incredibly relaxing, and the commentator was crystal clear and super knowledgeable. I’d recommend bringing a light sweater, even on a hot day, because it can get pretty windy. Overall, I’d definitely do it again!Written July 21, 2024
- 527leanneg0 contributionsFriendly servers, overcrowded and dirty boatThe servers were friendly. The food was ok for buffet style dining. The boat was very overcrowded and unclean. Spiders dangling from the ceiling to the extent that people from different tables were swatting them away from each other. Large spiders. We killed two at our table. Our neighbour table killed one. As good as the servers were, the overcrowding (two bus tours plus others like us were on our cruise) made it impossible for even the hardest working, most attentive staff to keep up. While the lake is lovely, I recommend skipping this experience if you can.Written July 21, 2024
- 763amarf0 contributions“Do not book with Viator! My Frustrating Experience with Double Payments and Unfulfilled Promises”Booking a cruise experience with Viator in 1000 Islands, Canada turned into a nightmare for me and my six friends. Despite their offer to rebook with a promise of reimbursing the original payment of CAD 380, I've been left paying twice with no sign of the refund after a month. Each week, I spend 45 minutes on calls with customer support, only to be assured that someone will address the issue, yet there's been no progress. Viator's customer service has been abysmal, leaving me feeling scammed into rebooking and utterly disappointed in their lack of resolution! - 694naidat0 contributionsIt was a below average trip regarding enjoymentI took the three hour trip with a friend. First, the faulty audio made it difficult to hear the guide’s words because of this technical difficulty and a group of young women who were very loud and not accommodating with a request to ‘keep it down’. When this issue was put to the guide, he answered that it was important that people had a good time. I felt that all of us paid for this tour and our concerns should have been handled by him. The food was not good. The smoked salmon didn’t taste smoked. It had a grey colour around the edges, so I didn’t eat it. The crepes were cold and made with cheese of sorts and gummy. The desert, a cheese cake with a crumb base was soggy and the cheese was not very dense. The service was poor with lengthy waits between the food. The view was wonderful and when I could hear the guide, informative. I feel the tour didn’t deliver for the price of $107.00. The tour without a lunch was around $60.00. The difference in price was not worth the food served. I wouldn’t recommend this trip with food to anyone.Written July 8, 2024
- BruceT10 contributionsReally Poor ExerienceThe Heart of the 1000 Islands Cruise was one of the worst excursions of my life. The boat is in serious need of maintenance and repair. The paint on virtually surface is chipped or missing so that many metal surfaces are rusted and wood surfaces are split or moldy. My seat was under the very top roof which drained water directly onto my seat. I had to use my umbrella to keep from getting soaked. We could not hear the guide/narrator, largely because they tried to cover the entire deck with one antiquated Peavey Stadia II speaker. It was especially bad in the back of the deck due to engine noise. They need a new and better sound system. No directions were given to the passengers to remain seated so people could see or to minimize conversation so people could hear. As a result, in virtually all directions people were standing, talking, and laughing, which became worse as the on-board beer took greater effect. Find a better, more modern, and better conditioned craft. Do not waste your money on this one.Written June 23, 2024
- ronvO8169TK0 contributionsGreat TourWe took the 3 hour lunch tour! It was so amazing! The meal was awesome! The staff were so friendly with big smiles that made you so welcomed! The tour guide Dave was also very friendly and knowledgeable which added to the tour. Musicians on lower deck which sorry to say I missed good part of the show were also excellent. Congratulations to a great crew! Thank you and I would recommend people to go ! You won't be sorry!Written May 16, 2024
- Camper041394402030 contributionsPay the extra for premium seating. Loved every minute¡We were two couples who has been on many food entertainment cruises. We all agree this tops any of them. It was cold and grey so did not take take advantage of the open deck like we always do. To be honest I'm not sure we would have left our beautiful white tablecloth premium window seat anyways. Views were amazing. Tour guide extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Our server very sweet. Same goes for the rest of the crew. Food was presented beatyfully ,( And I'm picky) The premium seating cheese platter was great. Brie, old white cheddar, blue cheese, crackers, sweet n spicey nuts, hot peppers, strawberries, small pickels. Soft buns. Arugula salad with onions and cucumber in a vinaigrette. I added the blue cheese and strawberries to mine. Yum. I had the rosemary chicken in cream sauce. Others had the braised short beef ribs, also very good. Caramelized carrots done to perfection, not overcooked. We all opted for the cheesecake. There were other premium options at extra cost. Large portions. Tasted and looked like it was fine dining. Decent wine list. Coffee was not to my liking but everyone is different. Island queen is a beautiful vessel. Entertainment was also great, just wish they were in dinning room and not down stairs. But probably the most practical. Did I mention we loved it. Lol. Worth every penny. $ 109 pr person incl all tax not tips or drinks. Coffee/ tea incl. Highly recommend!!Written May 1, 2024
- shaneb210 contributionsA great way to see around the Kingston areaWhen visiting Kingston make sure you take the time to do this cruise. It is a leisurely cruise through the island with great on board commentary. The price is very reasonable considering you also get onboard entertainment. Recommend taking some snacks and drinks with you. If you are game try the 'lemon and lavender' soft drink on board (who ever thought you could combine these two). Hint: when booking check which vessel you go on and the cruise you select. The website is not clear - we thought we'd booked a 3hr cruise on the paddle-ship style boat but it turned out to be the 2hr cruise on another vessel. The staff were fantastic in the shop where you pick up tickets, allowing us to upgrade to the longer cruise - worth the extra ~$30CA for two of us.Written October 8, 2023
- 934seanb0 contributionsSimply Amazing!!We had the pleasure of experiencing the Kingston 1000 Islands Sunset Dinner Cruise. What an experience! From the moment we walked on the boat every detail of the evening was executed perfectly. We purchased the premium seating which was well worth it. The scenery is incredible and we were served a cheese plate as soon as we were sat. The Saint Lawrence River, Lake Ontario and the Rideau Canal all come together to make for spectacular viewing! The on stage entertainment was the perfect accompaniment to the 3 course dinner. The Braised Short Rib was delicious. By the end of the evening the musician had the majority of the cruise up dancing! Would highly recommend this cruise while visiting Kingston. Extremely well done you will enjoy every minute!Written October 2, 2023
- Adventure403899234990 contributionsSunset dinner cruiseWe enjoyed a relaxed evening cruising the thousand islands. This was our 6th time on the dinner cruise. We found the menu to be significantly different from previous. The cruise line appears to cater to vegans and gluten sensitive guests. Where there was previously a choice of beef, chicken, fish and a vegetarian dish, there is now a beef dish, grouper, duck and a pasta dish with vegan cheese and plant based meat. The beef short ribs were excellent! The grouper was a bit underwhelming. Appetizer (goat cheese tart) and salad (spinach and arugula) were delicious. Timing is great and the meal feels leisurely and relaxed. We were disappointed that the bread was served with margarine. This is not a cheap outing! Go the extra mile and serve butter with the bread. Good choices of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a special evening out. Entertainer was also great.Written September 19, 2023

Excellent choice to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday!! Staff were amazing, food was delicious (snapper a touch dry), and we'll portioned. On board entertainer added to a wonderful ambiance. The cruise itself was just phenomenal!

The main purpose to visit Kingston was for this cruise and we were not disappointed. The seating was quick and welcoming. The service was very attentive. The food was of excellent quality and freshly prepared. The entertainer, Billy Bridges, a local was fun and his repertoire very broad. We laughed and sang along for a couple of hours. I would recommend this cruise to anyone.

My wife booked this as an anniversary adventure and we had a great time..it was later in the season so it got dark earlier and we did not get to see as much going into port...
We were blessed with great weather and the entertainment made the trip go too quickly...nearly four hours of great food, good scenery and great service...
They were all so friendly and we were so thankful to have Sami as our server...
We wish her the best of luck in university and beyond...

The cruise itself is wonderful and very relaxing. The entertainer was excellent But we have been on this dinner cruise about 6 times and we found the menu had significantly changed and not in a good way. It seems like the drive to accommodate various dietary restrictions has impacted the menu. The only thing we found appealing was the beef short ribs. They were excellent. In the past there was a chicken, pork, fish, and vegetarian option. No more. Fish was grouper. Yuck. No chicken. Pasta was in a veggie sauce. No cheese. Margarine with stale bread. Premium desert was extra. Alcohol prices are sky high. We won’t go again. We pay a high price for this experience and the dinner is a big part of it.

Bought this for our anniversary. The meal was terrible. Service was extra terrible. Carrying out salads on top of each other, gross. The best part was the boat cruise and the band Spencer, Ron and Bob. Salad was a plate full of bitter arugula with a table spoon of dressing. Dessert was supposed to be cheese cake covered with strawberries and sitting on a rasp. glaze. Recd 1/2 a strawberry on the side. Had the beef, dehydrated carrots from sitting forever, potatoes cold and a teaspoon of gravy. WTH. Very disappointing. STAY AWAY.

We had an excellent time on the sunset dinner cruise. The entertainment was very good. Service was excellent and food spectacular. For the cost, we were surprised more individuals weren't dressed up. We didn't mind being the best dressed couple on the boat.

The entire evening was a lot of fun! The food was great, the entertainment was lively and fun to listen to, the crew all friendly, and the ship was clean and very stable. I would suggest not paying the extra $ for a table along the outside of the dining area as there really are no bad seats. It was a wonderful dinner evening that our family will remember!

The boat was very nice and well laid out for the night cruise. The dinner was very good as well as the service however what really set this cruise apart was the entertainment. Billy Bridger was not only entertaining and funny, he really interacted with the audience and we thoroughly enjoyed his performance. This was a great experience overall and would highly recommend this cruise. Unfortunately we took the cruise towards the end of August so the return portion was in the dark but that has nothing to do with the cruise itself.

It has been many years since we took a boat cruise in the Thousand Islands because we live here and see parts of it everyday. But from the moment we booked our Sunset Dinner Cruise we were looking forward to our cruise. The evening of our cruise the boarding went well, all the tables were organized with specific seating and somehow organizers seemed to know how to group guests in the most hospitable way. The tables were beautifully set, the wait staff were very friendly and took the time to explain the menu and its various meal options. We found the bar prices to be reasonable, the meals were well presented and delicious! The onboard entertainer and musician explained that all meals were prepared on board as per guest's wishes and commentary around us indicated people were very happy with their meals as well. The entertainer was Billy Bridger a Kingstonian, knew his local history and was an excellent performer as well. He invited Elvis,Dolly Parton, Elton John, Bob Marley and others to join him during his musical performances and as the night went on the crowd on board were very engaged in his songs and music. The cruise itself goes through the beautiful Bateau Channel, Admiralty Islands and the channel between Wolfe Island and Howe Island, you see a lot of the Thousand Islands. The sunset was also spectacular to view while were eating our meal and enjoying the musical entertainment. The staff seemed to work well together, they were all very pleasant and appear to have received professional commentary on their wait services. Our overall feeling was that were the cruise was an excellent trip for the evening and the cost was quite appropriate for the event. We would recommend this cruise to anyone thinking of a nice evening out and wish you the good fortune of meeting other guests who were as pleasant as ours were.
