- Global551354404080 contributionsAn Extraordinary Boat Ride.Whilst there is certainly a line, it's well worth the wait. Taking a boat ride itself comes across as a mundane activity, but with the surrounding scenery it becomes an absolute wonder. Being so close to a, substantial, amount of water pouring down, feeling the spray on your face, seeing how small people look on the cliffs above, it felt magical. Definitely worth the visit.Written December 4, 2024
- wash4000 contributionsYour going to get wet,,After many times coming to NF it’s the first time taking this well orchestrated venture..it was exactly 20 min.from on the watercraft til you got off..from what I noticed TIMING is everything, the craft that left before us was quite full, ours was not,,so we got a spot on the lower deck, aft left rear corner. it was an experience ,THEY GIVE YOU PONCHOS but you WILL get WET..highly recommendedWritten October 30, 2024
- PurdueGirl840 contributionsSimply must do!This is a must do on the Canadian side. We traveled at an off peak time, so purchase our tickets and walked right on the boat. You are given a poncho, but anything not covered by the poncho will get wet. The boat heads straight towards the falls and spins a lot of time floating in the mist before turning around! You do get wet but it's worth it!Written October 11, 2024
- 266rudyb0 contributionsPerfect Photo-OpThe most fun I had on our trip. Grad your red poncho and hop on board for a close up with the falls. it’s one of the most popular things to do while at the falls. Don’t be discouraged by the long lines because it moves quickly. I think maybe 30 minutes from the ticket booth until we were boarding on the boat. You’ll get wet despite them giving you a poncho. We wore quick dry pants and my rain jacket. We went to dinner right afterwards, so the quick dry pants came in handy. You’ll enjoy it.Written October 7, 2024
- RIchard0350 contributionsBrilliant experienceNiagara City Cruises is the Canadian version of the Made of the Mist boat tours. We went on a Friday in September when it was quite although I know from past experience that there can be long queues at other times. You are provided with a disposable waterproof covering before getting on the boat. The boat then goes alongside the American falls and then up to the horseshoe falls were it stops for a few minutes. You get very close to the falls and do get covered in spray. If you want to keep dry I would suggest standing on the lower level of the boat. We were advised to stand on the right side of the boat for the best view of the falls but I think it would have been better to be on the left side or at the front. This experience is a must if you are in Niagara.Written September 19, 2024
- alohatripper0 contributionsWet and wildThis excursion began with a WeGo shuttle from the area of our hotel to the Niagara Falls Tourist Center. I would estimate that it is almost a mile from there to the embarkation point. We missed the shuttle bus and walked rather than wait another 20 minutes. We didn't realize the distance. We should have waited for the next bus and avoid the uphill walk and oppressive heat and humidity. Once we boarded the boat, all was good. We see more waterfalls on the Canadian side, and it is not as crowded as "Maid of the Mist" on the American side. You need to wear the red, plastic ponchos and slippers or water shoes. You will be drenched.Written September 18, 2024

- hmize740 contributionsAll Aboard!!Such an incredible experience!! Do it!!!!!! Be ready to get wet, but that is the fun of it all! Feeling the power of the falls up close and personal is incredible!Written September 18, 2024
- LindaSue20240 contributionsStunning View of The Falls!Stunning views of Niagara Falls! Yes, you will get wet! They give you a plastic poncho, but it doesn't cover everything, and you will get wet. If your camera/phone are not water resistant, I suggest you either put it in a zip lock bag or buy some type of water repellant case for it, as it will get wet. Getting that close to the Falls was amazing with the loud, thundering sound of water, watching it crash off the rocks, and being sprayed with its mist. It was quite an experience...and you will get wet!Written September 8, 2024
- GrahamP1130 contributionsMaid of the mst, Canadian sideBeen on the trip many times but still amazes every time, as you get so close to both waterfalls and just stand there getting buffeted by the water, spray and swell. You get soaked but it is just so worthwhile . The crew are amazing and the whole trip superbWritten September 6, 2024
- Homerjayo320 contributionsPonchos at the ready. Hornblower boat tripWhat a brilliant trip on the Hornblower. It’s an absolute must to do. Easy to book, well organised staff lovely. Great photo opportunities and you will get wet. Ponchos are supplied free of charge. If you only do one excursion when visiting Niagara Falls it must be this.Written September 3, 2024
- 802debrab0 contributionsFeel the power of the fallsHow close can you get to the falls? Very close. You will feel the mist and the spray like you are in a thunder storm. Everyone on the boat loved it including all the kids. You can feel the power of the water. You will get wet on the feet and legs and hair. Wear shorts and you will be fine. A must do.Written August 31, 2024

- TheCornishHack0 contributionsIf you do one thing at Niagara do thisYou've probably seen the videos and pictures online but nothing can prepare you for the experience of being in the middle of the Canadian falls. Awesome. An absolute must trip! Even with the ponchos you're probably going to get wet so probably best to consider what shoes and trousers you're going to wear. Walking around afterwards with clingy soaked jeans is probably not going to be fun.Written August 10, 2024
- Lynn S0 contributionsHornblower Niagara City CruisesThe Niagara City Cruises do a great job with this attraction. They move hundreds of people though every half hour. They provide plastic rainwear and an incredible view of the falls bringing you up close to feel the spray and the spectacular experience!Written August 9, 2024

This was a spectacular experience for myself and my family. The boat departs from the Canadian side of the river, so please make sure you know that there is not a version of this tour with this company that launches from the American side. The boarding process was fairly straightforward. While you are told you can arrive right at the time of your departure, and inside our tip is to arrive roughly 20 minutes ahead of time as you will then get to choose where you stand in the boat. The ideal location in my opinion is to stand on the upper deck, near the front or at the front, on the shoreline side of the boat. The reason this is ideal is that the boat exits the horseshoe Falls by turning counterclockwise, and this gives you an unobstructed view of the entire Falls while the boat is making the turn. This is for the most part the only way you will get any photos that don't have other people in your pictures. The ponchos they provide did an excellent job of keeping us dry; the only caveat I would have is that they are also quite hot so if you arrive early do not put the poncho on until you have actually gotten on the boat and are moving.

Must do!! We didn’t book this in advance. By chance we were up and out early of our hotel. (Think the time difference mucked us about)
We were at the ticket office early, time stamp on the photos say we boarded the boat at 8.37am! We walked from the ticket office straight on the boat. So we must have been one of the first trips.
The boat ride itself was great. Smiles from ear to ear. Such an experience I’ll never forget. Kids loved the ponchos and getting soaked.
Leaving the boat the queues were building and passing again later in the afternoon there was a huge queue in the crazy heat that I’m glad we avoided.

Went many times to Niagara Falls over the past half century but never went on the boat trip. When my cousin suggested it on my last séjour, I jumped on the occasion. It départs every 15 minutes. We all got the red plastic poncho like to protect from the heavy mist from the Canadian side of the falls. Easy opportunities for photos and videos of the American side but not so when dealing with the constant mist.
Met a lady from Stony Creek, Ontario and her visiting family from Italy. She wasn’t gonna use the poncho but upon our advice did and was thankful for it. Staff was very professional telling us how to behave in a safe behaviour etc.
It lasted aprox 20 minutes. Truly enjoyable

This is THE thing in my opinion you have to do in Niagara. The queue was long but they weren't fussed about time slots - we queued at 11.45 for 12.30 slot, we're on the boat at 12.15. Queue went fast.
Very efficient.
Experience was great. We were on the left so got wet first. The boat goes quite close to the falls. I wear glasses so it wasn't long before I couldn't see a thing as glasses were so wet.
On return, we were on the dry side and the right side had the wet experience, so everyone gets a fair chance to get drenched.
It only lasted 20 mins, but really worth it.
Would highly recommend

Not sure if it was due to me doing the boat to the Falls on the second last day of my one week in Niagara, the voyage to the Falls was below my expectations.
We went at the first hour 9.30am and the ship was full with tour groups on a Monday. The waiting time to board was about 15 minutes and the ride was around 20 minutes. The ship was quite close to the Horseshoe Falls. However, all the crowd care was to take pictures rather than enjoying the experience.

This is a must do when visiting Niagara Falls! Everyone is given a red poncho, which you'll appreciate because you will get wet! The boat brings you close to the falls, and it’s such an awesome experience. The tour lasts about 20 minutes.

It's a well organized boat tour that gets you close up to the falls. You'll also be provided with a hooded rain poncho and you're going to need it as it can get pretty wet out there. It's well worth it though. I suggest wearing shorts and flip flops weather permitting. The ride lasts about 20 minutes which is just right. My only complaint is the price as it's about $35 per person including tax.

My family and I did this boat trip when we visited the falls in July and it was amazing. To get so close to such a majestic waterfall is a great experience. You’ll get soaked and windswept (they do provide a poncho which helps) which just adds to the experience! Trip lasts about 20 minutes.

We have been to Niagara Falls a few times on day trips from Toronto, but we never did any of the activities that are available. This trip, we stayed over and really got to see the falls from all angles. The Niagara City Cruises Voyage to the Falls boat tour was the best. We got as close to the base of the falls as possible and got soaked as a reward. It was great. They do give out thin plastic ponchos that do a reasonable job of keeping your upper body dry. But your head and legs will get drenched so don't wear nice shoes. You really get to see and feel the power of all that water and it is impressive.

I have 1 child (3-yr-old) but they said "Children under 4 years old are free to ride (ticket still required)". Should I buy a ticket for the child ?

You don’t need to buy ticket. They will give you one for free for the purchase.

What is the situation with parking to participate on the tour?
Written September 25, 2019
There are 4 huge parking lots near to the falls and only a short pleasant walk passed the visitor centre to the boat tour location.

Is this accessible for someone using a walker?
Written August 17, 2019
There is an elevator down to the boat so a walker should work, however on the boat I would think you would need to stay on the bottom deck. There are pretty steep stairs going to the top deck and it is pretty pitchy in places up there as well as the deck getting wet. I agree with the previous comment to call the company about arrangements they can make for someone in a walker.

Hi, is there a price difference between buying online in advance or waiting and buying tickets at the ticket booth onsite? Thanks!
Written August 10, 2019
I don't know if there is a price difference but I bought tickets online and avoided the long line at the ticket window.

We will be taking Amtrak into Niagara Falls NY Sept 17th leaving from Buffalo NY Sept 19th. MY questions are:
1. Hotel that is good location for crossing into Canada to take a tour.? Reasonable but nice..
2. Is there a Shuttle or bus line that can take us from US side to CA side for the Falls boat tour?.
3. After Falls tour is there places to see, walking or do you need transportation?
Written August 9, 2019
We stayed on the Canadian side and walked across the bridge to see the US views. Enjoyed Goat Island. Both sides are great.
