Best tour ever!
This was an amazing experience. Our tour guide Chris went above and beyond! We started this trip knowing very little about wine. After an afternoon with Chris we feel like connoisseurs! The wineries were very welcoming and provided a great selection to try. A few of these wineries are not available at the LCBO. This trip exposed us to some great wine that we had never tried before. I will be recommending this to EVERYONE I know!

Wonderful locations - horrible tour guide

Let me start off by saying some of the positive points to this trip: pickup from our hotel was timely and in a wonderful vehicle (Lincoln SUV). My girlfriend and I went on a Friday which happened to be a snow storm in Niagara, so we were the only participants on the tour. Since it was for my birthday and I enjoy drinking wine I was excited.

All three wineries had fantastic wines and fantastic persons serving you. Amy at Riverview and Andrew and Lakeview were great, respectful and served us great wines. This allowed for a great experience in respect to the wineries themselves. Wines were best at these first two (not to mention the cheese at Riverview).

With respect to our tour guide Chris, I encounter very few people with such controlling and disrespectful behaviour as him. Maybe because we were alone (only my girlfriend, him and I), he decided it was funny or okay to continuously bother me throughout the tour. This all began before entering the first winery (Riverview).

He began explaining how I was holding my wine glass incorrectly, and explained how to hold and drink the wine “correctly”. Fair, he is inclined to share his expertise. But as soon as he got out of the car, he started making jabs saying why was I not helping my girlfriend out of the car, holding her hand to the door, opening the door for her, etc. Mind you, he was not giving me opportunity to do so as he made my girlfriend take his arm instead to “show me” how to “properly” be a man, making hints that why my father did not teach me.

At first, this angered me, but I didn’t want to let my day be effected by a inconsiderate person who is just the driver. Nonetheless, Chris continued to criticize the way I hold my glass the whole trip, and saying how it’s a bad habit, and continually criticizing how I didn’t rush to put my girlfriends jacket on. Let me tell you, if I wanted advice, I would ask my father and not this inconsiderate man. Besides, do you think my girlfriend would book this tour if she didn’t think I was a great person to her? She even felt uncomfortable telling him how she’s a big girl and doesn’t need to be treated like a baby. Only towards the end of the trip he got the hint and started to remain quiet, thank goodness.

Not to mention, he also showed us a video of a big machine cultivating grapes automatically. In the video you can hear him saying “You don’t see no little Mexicans here”. Chris also asked us if we noticed that we don’t hear any Indian music as “he’s no Uber driver”. I’m not a guy who gets offended easily, but this just seemed like a far cry from the sophisticated driver he pretended to be. Atleast an Uber driver wouldn’t be such a poor quality person.

At the end of the day, the tour guide should let the person just relax and enjoy their wine! He can even join us if he likes, but just don’t be disrespectful. Just my two cents. I was even more upset to find out how much my girlfriend paid to be treated like that by this man.

Anyways, if you go, go in a group and avoid Chris the guide if you want not to be picked on and enjoy the great stops along the way!

It was a great experience! Chris was an awesome tour guide and very knowledgeable
about the wine growing and making process. He also taught us how to enjoy the whole smell and taste experience of wine tasting.
We highly recommend this tour.
Make sure you eat well before, as there is only one stop where you get a bit of cheese and crackers.

Great time with Chris (tour guide) on the CTG half day Niagara-on-the-lake wine tour. Chris was funny, informative and accommodating on the tour. Stopped a few times along the route to point out key facts on Niagara winemakers and kept us laughing with his humour and music. Loved all 4 stops we made and the folks we were with on the bus made for a fun time.

Cheese, wine and good times

Our original wine tour with another was cancelled because of the weather. luckily Community Transport Group and Chris was able to accommodate us at the last minute.

We were picked up at our hotel in Niagara falls. The vehicle was clean and well maintained. The wineries were great choices, with friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Chris our driver was also very knowledgeable and friendly, and taught us about the area and vineyards, and overall a good time.

I was annoyed our original tour was cancelled, but Chris and Community Transport Group were a great upgrade to our trip. I would recommend them.
