- Trail602636064000 contributionsWell worth the money!!!!What a wonderful Cinderella evening! Dan the Man picked us up at our hotel& communicated the whole time to tell us where he was. He did a wonderful tour making us feel safe and secure and let us know what to expect at each stop. The wineries all differed. And we ended with a beautiful stop with a great server named Liliana who gave us Havana shots to celebrate our anniversary. Great food and drinks and wonderful music. Would definitely do again! Thx to Dan, our new friend.Written October 16, 2024

Prompt, professional and fun. He made my birthday weekend.Written October 12, 2024
- Winnipeg40 contributionsFun few hours in NiagaraWe enjoyed this event, and despite having done a few wine tours in our day, Chris went out of his way to show us some things we'd never seen before. We appreciated his effort to educate and entertain us. There was a little mix-up with the times (I'd booked it understanding that it started at 11, but it really started at 11:45 and I'd missed the text so there was a little panic when we weren't picked at 11! Be sure to check your texts! Would recommend.Written October 12, 2024

- Kimberly J0 contributions$520 (before tip) disappointing wine tourThe tour description reads “ hop aboard your vehicle for the day - a classic London black cab. Head to your first winery where you will receive an introduction to wine making, and will enjoy a tutored tasting. Following a multicourse lunch at a gourmet restaurant or an outside picnic lunch venture to four other wineries to sample numerous other varietals.” We have done numerous wine tasting tours. We chose this because we wanted a more personalized experience. The classic London cab was a beat up old clunker with torn and stained upholstery. Lunch was a cold sack lunch with a cold chicken sandwich, dry pasta salad and soggy pita chips with hummus. We sat at a picnic table at a roadside fruit stand. Luckily there was a bottle of water in each lunch because we were not offered bottled water the rest of the day. We went to four wineries (not five) and one of them was awful - think of going to see your crazy aunt and drinking her homemade plum wine. Yuck! We both thought these would be more upscale wineries. (In contrast, the next day we had a tour at Peller Estates which was fun, informative, interesting and delicious for $45 per person.) Our driver was a driver and not a tour guide by his own admission. He was certainly pleasant and nice but if he had any knowledge of the area, wineries or wine he did not share it with us. He was simply a driver who drove us from one winery to another (and got lost going to one.)Written October 5, 2024
- AnjJ3450 contributions1 star for Chris, 3.5 for the wineriesWe are in the minority of reviewers who did not care for Chris. We found him obnoxious, belittling, loud, insecure, and at times racist. He kept needling one couple about how the guy should treat his wife. He told someone of color that they resembled a famous person of color. While we sat there in mortified silence, he went on to tell us of two previous guests who looked like two other guys of color. He got weird about questions. He often highlights text on his phone and plays it for you. In response to a simple question about what had been read, he flatly said something like, I just give you the basics, if you want the "scientific" explanation you’ll have to research it. When the questioner clarified that she wasn’t looking for anything scientific, he repeated himself, so flatly, it felt intentional. There were positives - he was timely, the car was nice, he did provide interesting wine info and we mostly liked the wineries, though not all (one server, on learning where we are from, began reciting bad news from our city, seriously lacking context!) Best of all, we really liked the companions we met on the tour, who were lovely and interesting. By the end of the day we were bonding over our mutual reaction to Chris's behavior, and just hoping he wouldn’t walk over while we were drinking and talking. I'm baffled by all the great reviews, though a few others recount similar experiences, some even worse than ours, going back to 2021. I can't recommend a business that looks the other way on this behavior. There are other companies on that same road with great reviews. We really liked Grape Escape in the past.Written September 25, 2024
- elained5480 contributionsWine tasting and dinnerWe had the pleasure of doing our tour with Chris in a beautiful Rolls-Royce. Both my husband and I had a fantastic time as Chris were extremely informative with information on the region and so much more. The selected wine tasting farms were excellent and the history around these farms even more precious. We had a great time and lots of fun. A tour with Chris is highly recommen.Written September 3, 2024

This was a lovely way to explore NOTL! We really appreciated the variety of wineries and wines that we could try. Our tour guide, Joe, was very knowledgeable and passionate, he did a great job leading the tour and making sure everyone was safe on the bikes.
The only thing to note is that this is more of a bike tour than it is a wine tour. About 4 of the 6 hours that this tour took consisted of biking, with the rest of the time being spent at each winery and with lunch. My group didn’t think this was a bad thing (we enjoyed biking through NOTL on a sunny day), but it is something to be mindful of depending on your expectations/needs.
Overall, CTG tours provides a very thoughtful, wholesome experience. We learned a lot and enjoyed ourselves!

Great tour! Our guide Paul was a great guy and very helpful. At one one point my pedal broke off my bike but they were quick to deliver me a new bike. My one complaint is that they don’t give you very many samples at the winery so the price of the tour is a bit high for what you get.

This was a unique experience, I have never taken a tour on bicycles! Our tour guide Joe picked us up from our hotel in Niagara, ON and drove us to our bikes by the vineyards. He was very transparent, knowledgeable, friendly, and courteous! The weather in October was cooling and refreshing, but I would go again in the summer. All of the local wineries had amazing wine and friendly staff. There were so many wineries you could spend all day trying samples , me and my friend had such an awesome time. Thank you !

After reading all the positive reviews I have to say we were left pretty disappointed. We were picked up by Chris in Niagara Falls and that’s where our first issue arrived.. he kept encouraging us to not wear a mask and that “COVID would fly out the window” in the car. I’m sorry but there’s a world wide pandemic going on!! His driving was also insane and my fiancé and I did not feel safe whatsoever, after a stressful 25 mins we were dropped off at the bike rental location while he went to pick up the other couple that would be joining us. After the car ride we were already not impressed but decided to just go with it and see how the day went. Again at the first stop after our tasting he kept encouraging all of us to keep our masks off since no one else was there.. not the most professional or responsible attitude. We had both ordered the vegetarian option for lunch and I received a sandwich and some hummus and chips which was very good but my fiancé just received vegetables with hummus.. we didn’t mention anything about that so I guess it’s our fault for not saying anything upfront but we were kind of both expecting a sandwich.. The stops at the winery’s we’re fine but in the description of our tour it stated that it included a behind the scenes grand tour on the 3rd stop, that never happened. I understand with the virus going on they may no longer be providing this option but then we should’ve been informed on this when booking since it’s still clearly written in the overview of the bike tour..all in all I’d say if you want to do a wine tour in Niagara, just go on your own! Some places even waive the $10 tasting fees if you purchase two or more bottles so I really don’t see the point in wasting money with a company that really doesn’t take the health and safety of its customers seriously. When the government is enforcing mandatory masks and social distancing but your tour guide is acting like it’s a joke it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. My fiancé also told him that he was not comfortable touching since Chris was giving ‘covid handshakes’ on multiple occasions but he still continued, even grabbing his hand and the end and insisting he doesn’t have the virus... To make matters worse when we were dropped off at the end he made it clear that gratuity is not included in the price and we were basically given no choice to give him something even though we felt the service provided was not worthy. The one and only positive thing I have to say is that they pick up your purchases and have them waiting for you at the bike rental company so you don’t need to ride around with the bottles. Save yourself $250 and visit the wineries yourself!

Biking and wine tasting is great, really enjoyed the lunch, trip value was good. We biked too far for a leisurely tasting experience - people in our group were struggling.
I booked through travel advisor and received an itinerary. Arriving on the day of, the guide had a different itinerary which dictated which wineries we were going to. I personally don't care about that, its all new to me, but there was no notice from the staff about the change, or warning about the new distance. While I understand that due to COVID wineries can change their minds on the fly about tastings therefore, there is an element that is out of CTG's control. However, I think they do have an obligation to tell their clients about the changes that occurred and how it would affect their experience.

Was a beautiful sunny day for the bike and wine tour. Lots of fun with the other people in our group; got off to a rather slow start some people in group were very slow, so it took longer than expected. Our guide "Angel" was great, and fun to be around. She was very professional and took our safety seriously, and helped out those that were struggling. Lunch was good, but timing was late, around 2:00 in the afternoon. As a suggestion - maybe ask in the questionnaire if people have any reservations about riding 15km or so, or if they might have any health concerns before heading out on this tour. All in all good experience.

The description for this event is horrendously misleading. This was our experience:
Vine & DIE – “Lunch” and authentic Tour de France training regime
Join us for a gruelling endurance test of the highways surrounding Niagara on the Lake, on our barely supervised winery tour. Our most popular (?) bike marathon includes one stop at a winery (not advertised) followed by over 3 hours of biking over mixed terrain. At 1:30 you will wonder if it will ever end, as your tour guide has uttered no more than 4 words to the group. The lack of communication coupled with unfamiliar roads and the possibility of stopping soon allows your Stockholm syndrome to develop. You keep going. The next time you look back, you realize two cyclists are missing. Alerting the guide elicits mostly slow blinks. He finally arranges for a bus to pick them up. You muster up the courage to ask the guide – how much longer? He admits he ran out of data on his phone so he needs your help to map out the next location. You completely bypass the 2nd winery stop and end up at the 3rd with 0 explanation. It’s been well over 3 hours and 40km. Your hopes, dreams, and pelvis bones are shattered. Not for the faint of heart or legs. Rain or shine!
TLDR: Like biking a full on marathon with your mom’s new boyfriend who truly does not care if you live or die but will let you try like 6 oz of wine.
Please see hilarious attachment of the lentil power bowl that “will surely leave you completely satisfied and prepared for the road ahead”

If you don't know by NOtL is a tourist trap, and we got caught big time. I suspected the wine wouldn't be great but for a pleasant day out with family I can put up with mediocre wine. We were told we would tour the town and cycle up the river, stopping at wineries along the way. We started a fair distance from NOtL on busy, unattractive Niagara Stone Road, but then turned off to nicer road to Between the Lines. Following that it was back to nasty Stone Road and a good time at Pilliteri. Then more ugly Stone Road to downright bad wine at Joseph's. We discovered the next winery was also on Stone Road, so we left early.
So we saw nothing of the quaint town and pretty river, only a busy suburban road. None of the wineries knew we were coming, but most accommodated, though our guide did little to help. Communication was brutal and inaccurate.

Our tour guide Johnny was fantastic and made the experience a lot of fun.
Our only compliant was not knowing which wineries were on our tour. When booking we had a list of four shown to us on the website : Reif, Trius, Maryniessen, and Caroline. Ended up being a completely different selection of winieries which was fine but if I knew that I would have booked a separate tour for Trius etc.
Didn’t go to any of the big names winieries ,our stops were : between the lines, Joseph’s , lake view

Spectacular day. Very leisurely bike trip in small group with excellent guid "Johnny", a most experienced and well tempered guide. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Bike trip is at slow and even pace but be advised that the terrain is almost entirely flat so you do need to eat your wheatties before this trip, (all totally it's 20km, but don't let that dissuade you as it's broken up in many parts with breaks in between the stops at vineyards. Delicious, ample lunch and water provided. WELL WELL worth the experience! Thank you Johnny for a stellar day!
