The Paula D is ideal for an excursion. You have the opportunity to see the beautiful landscape of Ottawa, and relax and enjoy a nice cold beverage on the large upper deck. In addition, on the lower deck, our passengers will find our canteen and our bar (with permission to sell alcohol). The cruise offers a spectacular view of the city and allows you to see the river as it was used long ago: as a highway to transport resources. You will also see the natural beauty of the region that captured the imagination of the first European explorer Samuel de Champlain.

We took the Paul’s boat cruise yesterday. The cruise itself was nice and the tour guide did a great job.
My only suggestion is the departure time. We booked the 10:30 tour and the ticket and email clearly stated that the departure time was 10:30. We arrived with and waited for half and hour, and was told that the departure time is actually 11:00. It was ok with us, but we have seniors in our group and asking them to stand for 30 mins was not ideal (there were no place to sit).

It was a really great ride. I am so glad that Gabriella was our trip guide. She is just awesome! The way she explained the history about places is just outstanding and she made it real fun with quizzes and cool facts. Thanks a lot Gabriella for sharing the great history about buildings with us. Definitely recommend to take this cruise.

Katherine was our guide, and she was wonderful. We got so much interesting information on the tour that made the rest of our days in Ottawa even more enjoyable. We ended up looking closer at some of the things mentioned in the tour, like looking at the neighbourhood with all the embassies. At one point, we were going to ask a question about the Dutch queen during WWII, and Katherine beat us to it and told the story. It was lovely - she was amazing! They were also very cautious with Covid, which was greatly appreciated. The boat was very clean and well run.

Terrible experience. There was heavy rain &
thunderstorm on the day of our Boat Tour, Saturday, May 22nd. So the Tour was cancelled. Yet, we were not refunded for the payment we made for 3 adult passengers. I would NOT recommend this Tour to anybody at all. This is a rip off. The Tour Operator should refund our full money back, for this no fault of ours.

Hello, all refunds for the storm have been refunded. Please contact Julia at julia@ottawaboatcruise.com. Weather is out of our control and our passengers safety is our first priority. We do refund all passengers when we cancel due to weather.

COVID protocols were non-existent! I suspect this is because this tour serves both QC and ON, and QC has much more lax COVID Protocols at this time.

The boat was extremely full, no social distancing at all. And in the downstairs cabin you weren't even required to wear your mask unless you were up and walking around. No air flow.

I felt very unsafe during these times.

I wouldn't recommend this tour to anyone at this time. It felt as though the owners were too focused on making up for lost time/money than on people's safety. Extremely disappointed all around.

Overall the information provided was "meh", didn't find it that informative; not much history provided (unlike the Rideau Canal Tour - which did have social distancing, being that it is in Ontario only; and was extremely informative - would recommend that tour to anyone).

Very below average to poor experience. The company has no regard for people's schedules, first boat of the day arrived late and got back to port over 30 min past the scheduled time, which caused us to miss a lunch reservation. The ride itself was just 'meh', the guide was pleasant but just wasn't alot to say / see.

Also, the fact that they charge for kids starting at age '0' is absurd.

Save your money, not worth it at all.

I found the enjoyment of this tour really depends on where you sit on the boat. If you sit downstairs, you won’t be able to see or interact with the guide. If you sit at the back, the boat engines are so loud it is hard to hear what the guide is saying through the speakers - locate at the front of the boat. If you sit on the left of the boat, about 90% of the sites presented during the tour are presented on the right, so it’s not easy to see much until the journey home, when the guide stops talking.

The tour guide asked for a tip, so here are a few to improve the experience for everyone (we all pay the same fee afterall):

1) Add speakers on the lower floor of the back of the boat
2) Instead if rushing through your spiel, take your time, and present some of the sites on the way back
3) Speak up

I am very disappointed. The three people in front of us waiting in line to board the boat were not wearing masks and the captain just let them on without asking them to put on a mask. There were signs everywhere saying that masks were mandatory to board. The captain did not challenge them at all. I suspect that once he was paid for the 3 fares, he could not care less. The captain did not give me confidence that he had our safety in mind. The only reason this is not a 1-star rating is because Sandrine, the tour guide, was great.

We took this sightseeing river cruise along the Ottawa River in July. There were fabulous views of Ottawa landmarks and the beautiful area. The experience was narrated by our awesome tour guide, Melodie, in French and English. She gave some interesting backstory to the views and answered questions. The capacity of the boat was about 90 and our tour only had 15 people, so it felt very safe. I saw them wiping down the spaced out seats before we boarded and afterwards.

Our canal tour earlier in day was very nice. This tour although the route was nice had some issues. Boat arrived late and therefore left late. The young girl guide spoke too quick and was therefore hard to understand and a bit over the top in her delivery.

Some bad weather started during return leg of trip and some things went flying on upper deck ( life jacket flew and grazed my face) staff acted a bit panicky initially and told us to go downstairs, but could not get some windows closed on that level as the rain streamed in, passengers actually had to struggle themselves to try and get some closed. Staff consisted of 2 adult boatmen and 3 young girls. Once downstairs we were told to put masks on. Which is fine, but the 3 young girls stood in front area without them and one did her final mic speech facing the passengers quite close to the front seats without one which I found odd given we were told to put them on when moved to lower deck. On the canal tour earlier in the day for instance Brennan wore one all the time as passengers were told to do as per transport Canada directives.

Was a nice way to see Ottawa from the water though.

Lastly unlike the canal tour this dock is quite far so if you have mobility issues review the best way to get there.
