About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Jeff P0 contributionsBest of BreedWe had a short time on PEI and Harry Moreland made the absolute best of it for us. Took away a great feel for the area, its history, industry, charm, and beauty. You can find no better hospitality.Written September 19, 2019
- Quest1003850 contributionsGreat Day with Harry @ Harbour Light ToursWe had a cruise stop at PEI. We had been there before and loved it. We booked Harry for the day to take us around and immerse us in the whole PEI experience. He did not disappoint. We had a great day with the opportunity to meet folks and see the island. Harry is very easy to interact with and we had a great day.Written August 24, 2019

- oht30750 contributionsExcellent tourHarry and Doug are guides for our 9 people group (12 van) doing a shore excursion on Prince Edward Island. Even the weather is not very good, but both Harry and Doug did make up for our fantastic tour. They took us through the Island away from the tourist spots and show us the 'real' PEI which is beautiful and memorable. Harry is working in the local oyster industry and he did give us a tour of how the oyster industry is operated which is very educational. Of course he didn't forget to take us to a local seafood place where we gorged down the famous local cuisine, lobster, oyster and clam chowder which are absolutely out of the world. He ended the tour to take us to the famous COWS ice cream parlor and their blueberry ice cream made with local fresh blueberry is so delicious and is a perfect ending of a wonderful shore excursion. Thanks Harry and Doug.Written May 28, 2019
- bryanzim0 contributionsIsland TourWe thoroughly enjoyed our six hour tour with Doug Johnson! Doug provided his insights into the many parts of the island and introduced us to the parlour and kitchen in the lobster trap. Doug was very friendly and his props helped to illustrate the mussel farming and other sites. He was very open to our suggestions on where to visit. We had a great time!Written May 18, 2019
- Minihaha180 contributionsGreat day with Harry!I highly recommend going on a tour with Harry Moreland. As stated in another review, he also was recommended to us by another tour guide from the area. Even though the weather was far from ideal, he gave our group of six a wonderful tour hitting all the highlights. He provided us with a wealth of information about his area, all done with a great sense of humor. I liked the fact that he seemed to take a real interest in the people on his tour and was very flexible to our interests. At one point, I thought I spotted 2 foxes. Harry immediately turned his minivan around drove back to the spot, so we all could get a good look at them, even somehow coxing one of the foxes to come closer so we could take wonderful pictures. This coupled with a wonderful lunch at local restaurant certainly turned our rainy day into a sunny one.Written October 30, 2018
- scotchman20 contributionsPerfect day, perfect host!!!The thought of getting on a tour bus with 50 other people was not something we wanted to do on our trip so I researched private tours on the island before leaving on our cruise. Harry Moreland of Harbour Light Tours was recommended by another tour guide who was already booked for the day. We are so glad they recommended him!. We were met in the terminal building after disembarking our ship, the Rotterdam. Harry was gracious, friendly, and easy to visit with. We felt like we were out with a friend not someone we had hired. Harry suggested we head straight out to the Anne of Green Gables site as there were quite a few tour busses on the island that day. We were fortunate to arrive before the crowds and were delighted to be able to walk all through the house and grounds without seeing too many other tourists. Harry gave us a tour of the local oyster business he also works for, took us to a wonderful local place for lunch, and always asked us where we wanted to go and what we wanted to do. He had great suggestions for us, and took us to see the beautiful red cliffs, to a wonderful art gallery, and of course to the PEI Jam Factory where we bought some exotic jams and relishes. Harry provided a wealth of information about the history of the island, the economy, the local tourist industry among other subjects. I would highly recommend Harry and Harbour Light Tours if you are going to the island and only have a day to see the sights. Harry can give you a great overview of the island and lifestyle. We hope to visit again!Written October 23, 2018
- GoPlaces108940 contributionsFabulous, informative, delicious and relaxingOn a cruise with one friend I booked in with Harry Moreland / Harbour Light Tours prior to leaving based on the Trip Advisor reviews. All true. Harry is delightful and quickly it felt like visiting a friend in their home city. My fellow traveler was a little under the weather at the start and we enjoyed beautiful visits with fresh air and that was the needed tonic. Harry shared island history, his family's own history and the secrets of oyster production. We had a fantastic, fresh lunch at the Blue Mussel with oysters on the half shell, a yummy pot of mussels in beer and lime, and a super creamy chowder with seafood galore. We enjoyed a lovely visit with PEI legend Emmard Court. Returning to Charlottetown we toured the agricultural areas. Ended with a cup of Cow's ice cream. All around a super day.Written October 21, 2018
- ArtieAmish0 contributions4 Hour tour of PEiWe had an excellent tour given by Harry Moreland of the island on October 17th. We originally had a ship's excursion (bus tour) scheduled but decided to cancel that. We are so glad we did. He gave us a private tour in his minivan. One of the highlights was the visit to the oyster farm operation where Harry works. He gave us a great explanation of how the oyster farm operation works. We were able to get out numerous times for photos. He certainly customized the tour to our interests, especially since my wife likes to take many photos. He is very knowledgeable about PEI, and showed his passion and love for the island. It seemed that he knew about one out of every three cars we met on the road. His wife has extensive roots on this island. He also stopped and gave us a very quick stop and tour at the Anne of Green Gables house. Harry took us in to meet the oldest fisherman on the Island, who is famous on the island and throughout Canada. He is 94 an been featured as the old fisherman in the Old Spice commercials, and other iconic pictures of fishermen. We would highly recommend a tour with Harry for any visitor.Written October 21, 2018
- John C0 contributionsDon’t get on a 60 passenger tour bus - DO THIS INSTEAD!You’ve come all this way why jump on an Impersonal overcrowded tour bus when you can have a fun and experiential tour from a great and knowledgeable guide. For a truly informative, relaxed, intimate and personal visit into the marvelous island sites you simply cannot do better than the harbor lights tour. If you’re Lucky, you’ll get Harry Moreland as your tour guide! He is a hometown boy who can give you a behind the scenes in-depth view of things as diverse as the best ice cream shops to the best oyster beds. You can wait for 60 overweight tourists to exit a tour bus at your one or two stops or you can blissfully glide around the island in comfort and have YOUR questions answered. Don’t miss this tour!Written October 17, 2018
- penmick0 contributionsA Great Tour and Guide! We were 3 couples traveling by cruise ship. Harry met us as we got off the ship in his minivan. He has lived on PEI for many years and is very knowledgeable about the Island. We had a great day with him but wish we had not opted to see the Green Gables House. (this was our group's decision) It was a waste of time and money just to walk through the old house. We loved PEI - it was our favorite stop, only wish we would have had more time with our great guide! We did the North shore Tour. You can't go wrong with a private tour!Written October 13, 2018
- hollycat1230 contributionsExcellent tour with Doug as our guideWe wanted a tour concentrating on features of PEI of specific interest to us eg the natural beauty of the Island, it’s part in Canada’s history and the current way of life for the locals. Doug gave us exactly what we asked for, taking us to some beautiful coastline and sharing his well informed knowledge of the local economy, life in winter and summer and history Doug was a pleasure to be with and thanks to his wife too for providing some delicious chocolate chip muffins Would highly recommend the Company and our guide.Written October 8, 2018
- Robert S0 contributionsHarry's story about PEIMy wife booked Harry Moreland’s Harbor Light Tours before we ever left on the cruise. Her early booking was the result of comments about Harry’s tours. We were not disappointed! Once our ship arrived at Charlottetown, PEI, we disembarked to meet Harry. He welcomed us and gave us an informative presentation of his background and a brief history of the Island, while we were on the road heading to our first stop. Harry is an oysterman by trade and was born and raised on PEI, hence, knows a great deal about the history and people living there. Before forgetting to mention, Harry told us a number of Americans from Boston and the New England area have bought vacation homes on PEI. It’s no wonder as the Island is pristine, with clean air and water. The beaches are as clean as the roadways and scenes, i.e., no litter and in their natural state. We saw very few people while traveling around the Island. The city of Charlottetown does have about 35,000 people year-round. There were many camera-ready scenes to shoot, which Harry allowed time for, and, for us, highlights of the trip included Harry’s tour of the oyster industry and the visit with Captain Emard Court. As we drove from place to place, at one time Harry spotted an oyster boat returning with their haul and beeped at them, saying they were his buddies. We saw the oystermen’s excited response. Later, we arrived at the port where the oyster boat docked and were treated to a demo of how the catch of the day was off-loaded. Harry explained in detail what happens next. When we arrived at Captain Court’s residence we were invited in to meet him and discuss his days as a fisherman in Rustico, PEI. At 96, the Captain stays busy making mesh bags of varying colors, which we had to buy. We used it for the duration of the cruise to haul items. I added photos of the oyster catch and Captain Court with my wife and I. At the conclusion of the tour, my wife asked Harry if he would help us locate a suitable vacation home for use if we can get the children and grandchildren rounded up to visit PEI in the future. He replied with a hearty affirmative.Written October 2, 2018
- leobear2200 contributionsGreat Tour Great GuideWe booked a PEI tour with Harry for our one day cruise stop. Harry was great, very engaging and very informed. He truly loves the island. PEI is a beautiful place, but I do not think that you can really get a feel for the island on a big tour bus. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone coming in on a cruise shipWritten September 28, 2018
- Wander7445140 contributionsPEI was our favorite stop!We just returned from a New England Cruise and PEI was our favorite port. We booked Harry Moreland of Harbor Light Tours. It turned out great! Harry is a very personable, knowledgeable guy who shared lots of information without being boring (we had some of those) The island is spectacularly beautiful, in fact it got to be a joke when Harry would speak of someplace and say, 'this has a great view' we'd ask, "Harry, where are the bad views?" He took us to a fantastic restaurant owned by a friend. When we heard that we were a tiny bit concerned, shouldn't have been, best seafood chowder of the trip. The restaurant was Blue Mussel Café.Also, Harry is a good driver which was very important to me. Thanks Harry for our favorite tour & guide !! RobinWritten September 28, 2018

Harry was the best, knowledgable, personal able individual we could have. Very generous of his time and knowledge of the island. He made our trip a complete pleasure. Sorry for delay in this review, our visit was Sept 2017. Thank you, sincerely.

Met with family and stayed at the Rodd Brudenell Golf Resort near Cardigan.
Staff and accommodation was great.
Food was reasonable and the options were many. Seafood Chowder was the best that I had on the Island.
The location was perfect as it was close to the ferry and many attractions and beaches.
Cavendish was a a great area to visit with it’s many Anne of Green Gables attractions.
People in general were friendly and polite.
The lack of crowds was refreshing.
Great part of Canada with it’s many views and places to stay.

4 of us just returned from a Canada/New England cruise. We all live in British Columbia and were excited to see some of Eastern Canada that we had never seen before. Our tour of PEI with Harry from Harbour Light Tours was a highlight of our trip. Harry showed us all the sites and areas we asked for and more. We were so thrilled and lucky to get to meet a retired fisherman and WW11 Veteran who is spending his time now handmaking net bags just like he did fishing nets! Just amazing!! Of the 8 places we visited on our cruise PEI stands out as the place I would love to return to. It is so pretty and I thank Harry for showing us around his Province and sharing it with us. Harry is very friendly and easy to be with for hours. The best compliment I can add is that after our tour my sister thanked me for finding and booking our tour with Harbour Light Tours. Book Harbour Light Tours and you won't be disappointed.

Harry Moreland and Doug Johnson took the 10 of us on a 6 1/2 hour tour from Charlottetown to Rustico on Prince Edward Island. They kept up an informative running dialogue of the island history, economy, and careers of the people who live here. We saw the Doucet House, built in 1772, the Farmers Bank of Rustico and St Augustine, the oldest Catholic church on PEI, built in 1838. We traveled through the National park on the north shore, saw oyster fishermen, and the Green Gable House and Musem. We ate at the Blue Mussel for lunch enjoying fresh mussels, oysters and a fish caught in the Bay that morning. We would highly recommend Harbour Light Tours and Harry and Doug. Our tour was a combination of their suggestions and our interests.

My sister and I recently toured from Boston to Montreal including a stop in Charlottetown. We had plans to see Anne and Gilbert , the musical (which was also terrific!) and didn't think we could squeeze in a tour of the island. Then we met Harry of Harbour Light Tours, who assured us he could show us everything we wanted to see and get us there for the show. Not only was he good to his word, he made the tour so personal and so unique, I will truly never forget it. Harry took us to the usual places like Green Gables but also took us to his own little fishing village of Rustico (where he also works in the Oyster trade), where we waved out the windows at his friends and fellow fishermen. Most special, he took us into his church and we saw the pew where his father in law, a veteran, sat each Sunday, forever memorialized with his cushion. It was a beautiful look into what it's like to live a lifetime on PEI. I highly recommend Harry as a guide for a look at the island you'll get no where else.

We spent 5 days at PEI. The best thing we did was to take the tour with Doug. He knew so much about the island and took us to places we would never had thought to go. Along the way he had pictures and a show and tell all so. It made the whole trip

What an absolutely fantastic visit we had on PEI. We came from germany and Harry picked us up at the harbour to go on an almost 4 hour tour.
He shared the history, landside and even personal stories of him and his family and how they´re connected with PEI with us, making the tour very personal and exciting.
The way Harry has told us these stories and shown us places (like the lighthouse, oyster farms, historic homes and the beautiful landscape) on PEI was an unforgettable experience for me and my family.
Thank you so so much Harry!

This is the first time I have ever posted a review on Trip Advisor. I decided to do so because we had such a wonderful 5-6 hour tour of PEI with Harry Moreland of Harbour Lights Tours (I chose to book with Harry because of the reviews I read on TripAdvisor and wanted to contribute). Harry is extremely knowledgeable about PEI, has a great easy-going personality, and is flexible in planning what to see and where to go. I feel like we got a real feel for the area. A couple of days before our cruise ship was scheduled to arrive in Charlottetown, we found out that our arrival was going to be delayed by several hours. I contacted Harry, concenrned that the tour we had originally booked was going to be too long. He assured me that he would make any necessary adjustments and that all would be fine. It definitely was! Book a tour with Harry -- you won't regret it.

An excellent tour. Harry was personable and generous as he shared his community and its history. We saw and explored a variety of magnificent spots including red rock cliffs, quiet and serene beaches, lighthouses, local artisans works and crafts, beautiful historic homes and churches, and the pristine landscape. We even learned and sampled some of the secrets of oyster and mussel fishery and dining. Wonderful day!

We had a WONDERFUL six hour tour with Harry. He demonstrated so much love and pride of PEI that it was contagious. We got to see so many beautiful nooks and crannies of PEI with explanations about the history and livelihoods of the inhabitants.
Harry took us to some nice shops, we had a delicious fresh seafood lunch at Blue Mussel Cafe, we met Mr. Court (age 95 and the oldest fisherman on PEI) and then had refreshing ice cream from COWS.
Thanks Harry for a wonderful time. We're ready to relocate to beautiful PEI.
