Great combination of Old and New
Danny was an excellent tour guide- informative and humorous. Starting in Old Town set the stage with a bit of history, architecture and time in the Basilica. From there it was a great deal of walking with explanations of the city connections and neighborhoods, a tasty bao bun in Chinatown and views of several amazing graffiti art images. Danny encouraged questions and ensured that everyone in the group felt connected, comfortable and was enjoying themselves. I highly recommend the Beyond the Basilica walking tour.

    Highly recommend this tour
Tom is an amazing guide. We didn’t feel like we were on a touristy walking tour but going for a walk with a very knowledgeable and fun friend. The little gestures of a bao and coffee were great. Tom introduced us to different neighborhoods, stories about their histories and nuances that we wouldn’t have known. It was truly beyond the beautiful Basilica. We highly recommend this tour!

    Great Walking Tour! Highly Recommend!
This was a GREAT tour of Montreal! Our tour guide, Thom, was wonderful! He was knowledgeable and made the information interesting! It gave us a nice overview of the city and the history behind it. LOVED it and would highly recommend it!

We enjoyed this new art perspective in Montreal.
This was suggested by a colleague, and is not necessarily something I would have booked without a recommendation. However, I am so glad that we did because it was very interesting to learn about the murals, artist, and some of the history of Montreal. I would definitely recommend this tour. Our guide Rod (Rodrigo) was fun, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about everything.

Great walking tour to see many parts of Montreal in a compressed time. Was great being able to walk in to Notre Dame and not wait on line. Rod gave a great description of everywhere we went. Learned so much about the city. Would highly recommend if you want to take a tour of the city. Just make sure to pack comfortable shoes, a lot of walking in a short time.

    Fantastic mural tour!
The mural tour exceeded our expectations! We've taken many self-guided mural tours in other cities, but this was the first time we've gone on a guided tour. What a difference this made -- learning about the artists and their motivation made it much more interesting, and our guide, Mel, made it a lot of fun. She's great -- warm and engaging, and so knowledgeable about all aspects of street art. Highly recommend this tour, for both first time and veteran visitors.

    Highly recommend Mural Arts tour
We enjoyed our tour with Mel - we've visited Montreal many times but this tour introduced us to neighborhoods and local culture we would not have seen/learned about on our own. The murals are beautiful and the history surrounding them is quite interesting. There wasn't a tour scheduled for the time we were available so we reached - they setup a special time for us, and three others ended up joining. Great customer service. I highly recommend!

Exactly what I was looking for as a first time visitor.
For a first time visit to Montreal this tour was just what I was looking for. Rod, our tour guide could not have been better. He was full of enthusiasm which of course rubs off. He also had quite a bit of knowledge. Loved that the groups are kept small which makes for much more intimate experience. For me, it was just the right amount of history, facts and all around fun. Montreal has many faces and this was a good way to see some of them. Will be booking a different tour with them when I come back. Much thanks for the great experience.

    A Must!
This tour was phenomenal! I highly recommend taking this if you’ve already done a traditional tour of old Montreal. Learned so much about the city outside of the historic parts and explored some really cool spots I probably wouldn’t have seen otherwise. Tour guides are amazing! I’ve taken a few other tours with them (highly rec the mural tour!) and was never disappointed.

    Really great tour!
Our tour guide, Danny, was WONDERFUL!! He was super knowledgable, engaging, and friendly. This tour was the icing on the cake during my stay in Montreal. If you’re still undecided, this is your sign. Book this tour, you won’t regret it.

    Great Overview
Our tour guide Rod was very nice. He gave us a good overview of a lot of different things. He touched on some history, the culture, different neighborhoods, and the art scene. He didn’t go too deep into anything but he gave us enough info to decide what we wanted to explore more of. If you’re looking for a lot of history though I would say this was more light. It was a few miles of walking so enough for us to work up a good appetite for dinner. At the end he gave us a list of local recommendations. We tried a few and they were all good!

One of my all time favorite tours!
We had a remarkable experience with our tour guide Thom yesterday. All the other attendees canceled, and so my wife and I got a private tour. Thom was super knowledgable about the history and culture of Montréal, he was full of interesting stories about the different neighborhoods we visited. The bao and coffee were delicious, and he showed us some really cool shops we wouldn’t have seen otherwise. It really felt more like a friend showing us around than a typical tour guide. Highly recommended!

Thumbs up for Beyond the Basilica by S&P and tour guide Gabrielle.
We took the Beyond the Basilica tour by Spade & Palacio in February 2024. Our tour guide was Gabrielle was very friendly, relaxed, engaging and very knowledgeable. She happily answered all the questions our group asked. If you don’t have much time in Montreal, this is a great tour that takes you to many points of interest. If you have time to spare I recommend taking this tour early in your stay to help you decide what you want to further explore in Montreal. The included treats are a welcomed and strategically scheduled plus!!

Our guide, Danny, was excellent and the tour paced just right. We started with a Salvadorian restaurant where we sampled the pupusas ( new to us - tortilla type stuffed pancake served with kimchi and pickles) before moving on to the market where we were introduced to artisan cheese and charcuterie as well as ice cream . We finished the tour with an informal and al fresco picnic of fried chicken, mac n cheese and coleslaw. The samples had been carefully chosen to reflect the growing demands for artisan food in Montreal and the length was just right. Def highly recommended - I doubt if we would have managed on our won!

Rodrigo did a great job of not only bringing the market and the food to life but also imparting other great tidbits about Montreal past and present. He was very engaging and a wealth of information. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and the tour!

The host was a no show and the meeting place restaurant called to tell him there were 4 people waiting on him and gave me the phone. He said he emailed me a time change from 12 -2:00, but I missed it. He was unwilling to refund my money., so I called TA. Since I never confirmed the time change with him the original noon start stayed and TA gave me a full refund.

Hello! You were notified on on September 8th, three weeks prior to your travels that the time was changed. If you don't look at your notifications and show up it's unfortunate but your responsibility. The other 6 guests came at the appropriate time having received the same time change.... We never denied you a refund, we told you to talk to Viator to get it. You booked with them and not us and that's why you have to talk to them, we're happy you got the refund. You did write to us threatening "a horrible review of your tour" if we didn't help you. We did help you navigate your error. The food tour that was, for those who are on top of their game of course ;)

This tour is so much more than food! Marie walked us through several neighborhoods giving us history and perspective on where the city is going culturally. All the food samplings in the market were extraordinary. She also left us with several recommendations for food and drink establishments. Marie was delightful, informative, and engaging.

What an excellent tour! Our guide Chris was very knowledgeable and friendly and took us on a fascinating trip. Rather than take us for the regular local delicacies which we would be able to find for ourselves we were taken to more unusual venues. We started with pupusas at Restaurante Los Planes, a filled corn pancake traditionally from El Salvador. We then headed to an Italian Patisserie to try the cannoli which were delicious. Great timing too that we arrived when the Italian community were there with their vintage cars plus a couple of Ferraris. Next was a wander around Jean Talon food market for a selection of Quebec cheeses followed by the most delicious ice cream including sea buckthorn, local charcuterie, foraged foods, information about maple syrup and finally a picnic in the park. Chris was a great guide who was happy to answer our many questions. I would highly recommend this unique tour company.

We have done a number of market food tours in different cities but this was different and better. Our guide , Chris, was understated but knowledgeable and would tell us directly if he did not know something. It was another measure of success to hear the number of questions asked. The multicultural nature of the foods discussed and sampled was well received. The variety and amounts of food sampled were a most pleasant surprise. I would strongly recommend this tour to anyone going to Montreal.

After 3 day’s of a jam packed itinerary in Montreal (art galleries , a hockey game, a concert, touring old Montreal and the port) we had considered cancelling our pre booked Beyond the market tour to rest and recuperate for an afternoon. Boy are we glad we didn’t as we were the only two people that day and had a wonderful intimate tour with the charming Rodrigo or Rod as he likes to be called. He had a wonderful smile and pleasant disposition. He was very attentive and knowledgeable thru out the tour and we had a lovely afternoon. We purchased a few items for some of the establishments we visited to bring home as they were so good. We are so glad we went and recommended this tour to anyone that likes food and good company.

My husband and I enjoyed learning about foods that Montreal is not known for. Being from New York, we are fortunate enough to have tried a lot of great ethnic foods. The Montreal Italian bakery that Marie brought us to makes the best mini cannolis and until that time, I did not like cannolis.

Besides the delicious and filling food choices, Marie was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable. Our group size was small (total of 7) with very nice people. The walk was a good way to get familiar with neighborhoods we would not have found on our own. At the end of the tour, Marie gave us a list of the foods we had tasted and also a few restaurant recommendations.

The Jean Talon Market and Beyond is a great tour, make sure you come hungry.

We enjoyed our tour with Rodrigo this past weekend. From the start at a Salvadoran restaurant to the visits to multiple stalls at the market to a cold brew coffee shop and finally to our down home US Southern -style fired chicken and hush puppies picnic in the park, we had a fun time. Tried foods we hadnt tried before and learned a lot about the area.
