My husband and I absolutely loved this tour. We sampled food we wouldn't ordinarily have had during our frequent trips to Montreal - fiddleheads, papusas, etc. We learned about the various cultures and history of several neighborhoods and got a newfound appreciation for the Jean-Talon market. Highly recommended and, in fact, we did already recommend this to some local friends who would appreciate the hidden gems.

Now for the true rave ....

Our guide, Amélie (and Rod in training!) were fantastic. We actually miss spending the day with them! They were so bright, friendly, insightful, and gave us a real flavor (pun intended) for Montreal. Personal anecdotes and authenticity blended with sight-seeing and stops sprinkled throughout our tour made for a great way to see, experience, and, yes, taste the city. When we come back, we're going to seek them out for another tour!

We had such an amazing experience in January 2020 for the Beyond the Basilica tour! We booked two tours with Spade & Palacio this time around as well.

Danny was absolute fantastic during the Beyond the Market tour. His humor and wit mixed with his knowledge and love for Montreal made our tour unforgettable!

Marie was an amazing tour guide for the Art Mural tour. She really made the murals "come alive" during her descriptions and explanations of each.

Spade & Palacio has perfected the Montreal tour experience!

Fun and Food

Loved Jean Talon Market tour!
This was a wonderful food tour! Our guide, Marie, was personable, knowledgeable, and made the experience very pleasant and fun. She expertly guided us through the market and infused historical facts and a lot of background information regarding our food stops. The final surprise ending feast was perfect! Thank you Marie!

Our guide, Danny, was excellent and the tour paced just right. We started with a Salvadorian restaurant where we sampled the pupusas ( new to us - tortilla type stuffed pancake served with kimchi and pickles) before moving on to the market where we were introduced to artisan cheese and charcuterie as well as ice cream . We finished the tour with an informal and al fresco picnic of fried chicken, mac n cheese and coleslaw. The samples had been carefully chosen to reflect the growing demands for artisan food in Montreal and the length was just right. Def highly recommended - I doubt if we would have managed on our won!

Our tour guide Rodrigo was exceptional for the Beyond the Market tour. We really enjoyed the different tastings we did including the ice cream and the final surprise tasting!

We explored a new part of Montreal we may have otherwise not gone to on our quick trip to Montreal. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to explore the markets and learn about the areas of Montreal.

Great selection of stops

We enjoyed our tour with Rodrigo this past weekend. From the start at a Salvadoran restaurant to the visits to multiple stalls at the market to a cold brew coffee shop and finally to our down home US Southern -style fired chicken and hush puppies picnic in the park, we had a fun time. Tried foods we hadnt tried before and learned a lot about the area.

More than a food tour
This tour is so much more than food! Marie walked us through several neighborhoods giving us history and perspective on where the city is going culturally. All the food samplings in the market were extraordinary. She also left us with several recommendations for food and drink establishments. Marie was delightful, informative, and engaging.

Eat you way through Montreals ethic neighborhoods
Marie was one of the best guides you could want. Punctual, attentive, highly informed and knowledgeable about food and Montreal history. She is like the mayor of the town and knows everything and everyone. She is the reason these tours are worthwhile when traveling. The tour is well planned and the the last stop is a beautiful surprise. I won’t spoil it.
