This tour is so much more than food! Marie walked us through several neighborhoods giving us history and perspective on where the city is going culturally. All the food samplings in the market were extraordinary. She also left us with several recommendations for food and drink establishments. Marie was delightful, informative, and engaging.

We thoroughly enjoyed the food tour. Daniel was an excellent guide, offering a lot of information on the local area both regarding food but also on the history and culture of Montreal.

We started off with some Salvadoran cuisine which was delicious, before visiting Jean-Talon market where we sampled gelato, cheese and smoked meat. We then visited a micro-brewery for some beer tasting with some more local cheese, before some iced coffee and then finishing with a local specialty of poutine.

Had we not been on the tour it’s unlikely we’d have visited this area of the city so that was another bonus.

Hey, Thanks so much for your review. Glad to hear you enjoyed and Daniel treated you well (he really is the best isn't he?) We try to make our tours as informative and fun as possible, letting you taste some of our favorite foods while also exploring less touristy neighborhoods from a local's perspective so you could really get a feel of Montreal's character over all. Hope to see you on on of our tours on your next visit! Cheers

We loved this tour! It allowed us to meet and interact with small business owners in and around the Jean-Talon Market and we sampled lots of delicious food along the way. It was informative, relaxing (we never felt rushed) and impeccably organized. I highly recommend this tour!

Heya! Our goal is to showcase the lesser known hoods and food businesses we're proud of. Happy we succeeded! One of the things we pride ourselves on is making sure everything is ready and no waiting around time, glad you picked up on that and thanks for sharing! Come back for a bike tour next time! Cheers

“Beyond the Market” is well-named. This is a fun exploration of places a bit off the usual tourist path, along with some time through the Jean Talon Market. Truly off the beaten path was the meeting place and first stop, Los Planes, a liitle Salvadorean place with interesting history and great pupusas. A discovery! I liked the tour but would advise people to think of it as a discovery tour with food accompaniment. Lesley was a good guide with lots of energy and evident love of Montreal. I would recommend the tour if you are interested in areas beyond the usual must-sees. If you want more time at Jean Talon Market, go back afterwards.

Heya! Thanks for sharing. We’re always so happy to show our guests a real version of our hoods that are often missed out on. Lesley is a gem, I’ll share this with her. Cheers

We highly recommend this tour. We were a group of 8 (5 adults and 3 teenagers) and all had a great time in spite of the very cold weather since most of tour was inside ( it was a private tour and hence shorter than the normal 3 hours tour). We started with a sample in an El Salvadorian restaurant, then proceeded to the market where we sampled great cheese, charcuterie and ice cream, and finished off with a sample of local beers in a brewery, with non alcoholics for the teens. Danny our guide was great and even agreed to refund us for one guest who couldn't make it. All in all Avery enjoyable experience!

Hey there. Our food tours around the market are a great way to learn about more than bagels and smoked meat and tap into real Montreal farm-to-table and human scale business culture. Your families were good laughs and vibes, please come back for the warmer months for more good times. Cheers,

Yum. Lots of hidden gems and the opportunity to pick Anne Marie’s brain for food options was awesome! I went on the 2 pm tour and did not need dinner .... super hot day but we were well taken care with great food, drink and stories....and having an insider’s view of Jean Talon market was great.

We had a lovely day with Daniel as he told us about the food and businesses that we visited. I think my favorite was the El Salvadoran pupusa with the outdoor market a close second. You will see neighborhoods and streets that are off the beaten track and it’s a welcome change form tourist destinations.

Marie was a great guide, informative and knowledgable; although she had not heard of Canada's greatest ever band Rush - young people hey!).
We followed a lot of Marie's advice over the rest of our stay in Montreal: it was good advice thanks.
Food, drinks were varied and great fun.
Recommended.

Our food tour is the best way to see the less visited hoods and support small and local business. Didn't no Rush :( We will be listening to Tom Sawyer on repeat at our Holiday party. Thanks for helping with the soundtrack ;)

Lesley was our guide and she was pretty good - we enjoyed her stories and seeing many interesting murals. The initial Salvadorian "pancake" was great, the Jean-Talon market was wonderful!!!!! And the beer stop was good too. BUT, we could have done without the cold coffee stop and the last picnic stop. Please consider adding something else...................

Hey! Thanks for joining us. A young woman who has made a coffee empire out of a car garage in an off radar district producing progressive and third wave joe, Montreal’s best, is way worth it to us and the majority of our guests. The surprise picnic is often the favourite pick of our guests when we survey them at the end of each route! Of course we cannot please everyone.............. Cheers!
