Aug. 2019
We enjoyed the Jewish history walking tour with Ben, our knowledgeable guide. He made the tour interesting with period photos, stories from the past and personal insights. A great way to see a small part of Montreal, staying active, and learning something new. Highly recommend eating at Schwartz's deli afterwards.

Great tour with Cassandra!
We really enjoyed our tour of Jewish Montreal with Cassandra today. She was well-informed, with period photos to show the things we couldn’t see....like the inside of an old synagogue, a garment factory, and faces of important people. There was even a photo of two child cantors who travelled the synagogue circuit. Cassandra had a lot of local knowledge of the Jewish population as well as the city as a whole to share, and it was a delightful two + hours. Some of the streets are amazingly lovely, and the murals are memorable. We learned about the health, education, and cultural assimilation or lack thereof of the Jewish settlers, from 1760 - after WWII. Take the tour...you’ll be happy you did!

The tour guide, Cassie, a young lady with a great presence, was dealing with a group made up of several college professors. She was able to answer detailed questions with very specific facts. Her knowledge of the history of the Jewish population in early Montreal was quite extensive. My wife and I enjoyed every minute of the tour with Cassie.

Packed with information--Casserina was superb!
Aug. 2019
My husband and I found the walking tour of the Plateau neighborhood informative beyond the Jewish content. Our great guide, Casserina, provided us with an understanding of how this specific history fit into the overall history of Montreal. She also offered personal insights that amplified the historical information and struck a balance between fielding the many questions put to her by the members of the group and the need to keep moving. A highlight of our first visit to Montreal!

What was in Jewish Montreal
Cassandra was our tour guide. She is an intern at the Jewish museum. She did her best, but was obviously green when it came to conducting tours. She showed us empty lots, repurposed buildings and had a book to provide references and pictures to what she covered.

Great, learned a lot about the jewish neighbourhood landmarks, jewish community leaders and jewish daily life. Based on thorough research and interviews with elders who lived in the neighbourhood, the tour also gave me good insights on immigrant communities through the generations, from the first struggles to survive to growing prosperity and leaving the arrival neighbourhoods. Great guide with good voice, articulate and knowledgeable. Just the right length! And liked the interactions between guide and group members. Thank you!
