About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- ShannonAustin_Texas0 contributionsLarger than Life MuralsWe were worried that we wouldn't be able to endure the cold of a walking tour outside in Montreal in March, where there is still snow on the ground, and a very windy day! But despite the weather, we really enjoyed this tour, learning all about Canadian artists, muralists, street taggers, and the welcoming arts scene in Montreal! So many diverse stories told in the art, including tiny "diamonds" of mirrors left on street corners, like a Banksy secret art statement! This will be a great tour to take in the warmer months; we recommend it!Written March 15, 2025
- Cary B0 contributionsBest tour with Gabriella!Gabriella was the best guide! She was expertly knowledgeable in all aspects of this tour, as well as Montréal in general. We started at Notre Dame Basilica, traveled to the financial district, traveled a small section of the underground, Chinatown, old Red Light district (now Quartier de Spectacles), ending in Plateau district with wonderful murals. The group was treated to the most delicious Bao in Chinatown and a lovely cup of coffee at tours end. Gabriella made sure we were safe and out of the way when she stopped along sidewalks to describe various points of interest. This 3 hr tour was varied and in-depth. It lasted a bit longer due to so much snow which made walking a bit difficult at times. Yet, Gabriella never hurried us along or cut her history lessons short. Brava Gabriella!!Written February 23, 2025
- karae170 contributionsArtsy and cool - coldish but so much fun and true Montreal vibesGreat tour by an enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide! Danny has still got it after more than a decade. Our family loves the inside scoop on the Quebec artist culture. Looking forward to doing the new food tour in Philly soon!Written February 23, 2025
- fran_0is_d0uardb0 contributionsGreat tour!I've done two different tours with them and they were both great! Very nice way to discover the city if you're visiting, or like myself, explore a different side of the city you live in.Written February 22, 2025
- 860alaskas0 contributionsWalking tour during a blizzard!!What an experience! Gaby was incredible! We went out during a blizzard (harsh winds and extreme snow) and she did not skip a beat. She did a great job tailoring the trip to the conditions and was extremely knowledgeable. We had a great time learning about the history and culture of the city and just felt very taken care of. Gaby took us off the beaten path and gave us some great recommendations. Without a doubt - highly recommend!Written February 18, 2025
- robnU608GO0 contributionsAn amazing time even in bad weather!Gaby was a superhero for our tour- the weather was blizzard conditions and she still made sure we all had so much fun, stayed comfortable and saw and learned a ton. It was a great blend of history, architecture, culture and just general vibes. Going to recommend this operator to everyone I know who comes to Montreal!Written February 16, 2025
- Extraordinary1432290 contributionsAmazing tour and fabulous GuideGabby was a fantastic guide. I learned so much about the places we visited and left with a greater appreciation for the city and its history. Gabby shared amazing stories about the city and people in a way that really engaged everyone on the tour without being overwhelmed with information. Loved the tour of the old city and Chinatown and really enjoyed the street art. I would highly recommend this tour!!Written February 9, 2025
- BrysonClan0 contributionsCoffee, Chocolate, Cannolis...Oh, My!!!We had a great time on this tour! Rod was an incredible guide; energetic, friendly and full of information about Montreal and all of our incredible stops! We ate great food...and more great food...saw great sights and had the absolute best coffee and the most delicious chocolate. And the cannolis... (I bought extra for the journey ; ) Thank you Spade and Palacio and a BIG thanks to ROD!!Written January 29, 2025
- I722CNerinb0 contributionsFamily trip to MontrealChris was an excellent guide, especially given that we chose a very cold Montreal day! He kept my family of four, including 12 and 14 year olds, informed, entertained and warm. We saw many sights we would have missed on our own and each picked up different facts that Chris shared. Highly recommend to get an overview of Montreal!Written January 21, 2025
- anneh510 contributionsAbsolute MUST!I actually booked a food tour before seeing this BTB experience offered, and I quickly switched! What awesome reviews! And mine will be in line because this exclusive was so memorable! Gabby, our guide was incredible! She shared great Montrèal history in the form of stories. The way she shared was exciting- it wasn’t bogged down with dates and years. She connected Montreal history with what else was going on in the world, which I really appreciated! She gave us insider info like where to find the best Korean beauty products and what to do with the rest of our day (Restaurant Beijing for dinner, where she spent weekly dinners as a kiddo!) Popping in and out of places was seamless! It was bone chilling cold that day, and Gabby made sure to pop inside places to keep us all warm. We even got the rare chance to see the elevator in the middle of Notre Dame Basilica! It was so cool-we were seated RIGHT THERE! There were several stops along the way- some with time to explore (Eva B vintage!) and some just a quick story (The Two Snobs!). The snacks were delicious, but those treats were closer to the middle and end of the experience. Make sure you eat breakfast and maybe even bring a coffee! This is not a “food tour”. There is food ON this tour. I cannot recommend this experience enough! I have such a better understanding of Montreal history and a great sense of direction for Must See/Must Try spots!Written January 6, 2025
- P1606XLgabriell0 contributionsMurals tour in MontrealThis was a super interesting and self contained tour in the Plateau neighborhood of Montreal. Led by Gabriella, we saw a wide selection of murals commissioned by local and global over the years as part of a yearly festival. It was fun and interesting, and we got lots of great photos.Written December 31, 2024

- Dorylicious0 contributionsFabulous tourWe did this tour on our first full day in Montreal - it was the best decision ever. We covered all the main areas and felt comfortable exploring more afterward. It was a small group, so we felt we were with a group of friends rather than a massive impersonal tour. Mel, our guide, was fantastic. She answered all our questions and kindly shared her knowledge of this beautiful city.Written November 25, 2024

We spend some time each summer in Vermont, the wife says, let's go to Montreal. She signed us up for this tour. Instructions where to meet, what to bring, were spot on. Bikes are "rebicycled" old bikes. Refurbished frames, with new gears, derailures, etc. I'm a big guy, they had a perfect bike for me. We met our tour guide, Felix Gauthier, what a charming, wonderful young man. The tour was about 10 miles, over 4 hours, seeing Montreal from a perspective a walking tour or driving around just doesn't give you. They provide a tasty lunch midway through the tour. All in all, the experience was great, and a great value. It goes rain or shine, and before we came to the city, went to Walmart, bought a couple 2 dollar rain ponchos. It rained pretty good , and my wife and I were glad we brought the ponchos. One recommendation, Walmart, Amazon sell these things cheap, Spade and Palacio could have some at the bike pickup in the morning, and sell if the weather is sketchy. I'd would have paid 5 bucks to have one, felt bad for the others that didn't have a poncho. Regardless, great experience, and great tour. THANKS FELIX!

My sisters and I took did the bike tour with Jeff in honor of my sister's birthday. What a wonderful way to see the city! Jeff was incredibly knowledgeable about the city. He brought a lot of historical information, but was also chalkful of personal anecdotes that really brought stories of the city and community to life. I hadn't biked in a long time so I was a little bit nervous, but there were plenty of stops, and aside from 2 hills, the rest was not too physically demanding. It was absolutely worth setting aside 4 hour of my stay for this tour, and I especially recommend Jeff as a tour guide.

We booked somewhat last minute at the end of our trip and wish we had done it sooner! Our guide, Jeff, was a Montreal native and his love, knowledge and enthusiasm for the city was so infectious, we wished we had another week to explore! His background as a history teacher helped to deepen my appreciation for Montreal's unique culture and added vital context for understanding it's many qualities.
Additionally, the fleet of pink bikes were impeccably well maintained ensuring that we had smooth sailing as we traversed the city. Jeff and his trailing flock of flaminglets (?!) were frequently greeted with friendly shouts of "hey, it's the pink bike crew!" by locals as we cruised through the neighborhood. Spade & Palacio must be doing something right to have garnered such wide spread good will and respect!
My husband and I have done bike tours in many cities over the years and this was one of, if not, THE best.

This was an amazing experience. I was worried as I had not been in a bike in awhile and there is no ebike option for this tour. I had no cause for worry. The bikes were quite comfortable and easy to handle and the route only had 1 large hill that took us to lunch.
We met at a cafe and were able to grab a coffee before heading out. We had option to grab a helmet-which I definitely did. Our guide Tom was so friendly and informative. He shared so much history with us-as a Canadian there was so much local information that I was unaware of. He really took the time and tried to personalize the information to the needs of the group.
I did take a small fall and Tom immediately stopped and responded. He kept a good eye on the whole group making sure everyone felt included and everyone was together. The tour itself was great and we got to see a few things that I would never have known about or thought about.
Lunch was perfect and we stopped at a local park and chatted.
It was a perfect day, the perfect tour. I would highly recommend!

The four hour bike tour of Montreal was really engaging: the time flew by. The guide, Felix, was very knowledgeable about the city and gave us useful bits of history and social context at all the stops. I learned much more about Montreal than I could have gotten from a guidebook. Our lunch arrived by bike at a stop in a park which made for a relaxed break. The bikes were comfy and ran without a hitch.

We joined a group of 7 to explore Montreal. Enjoyed the Beyond the Bike Lanes tour to explore some of Montréal's hidden gems, right at street level. The café where the tour starts has excellent coffee and food. The tour staff were friendly and helpful getting everyone fitted on bikes. The fun pink bikes worked well, for the easy riding. The terrain was predominantly flat, tour was well-paced with lots of stops, so accessible for most fitness levels. Our guide Chris was able to bring in his urban planning background to share lots of information, history and his love of the city. Picnic lunch was delicious, and we enjoyed getting to know the others in our tour with seven participants. The tour gave us ideas for places we revisited throughout our trip, attractions to take in and restaurants to try.

From start to finish, this is one of the best experiences you will have while in Montreal. I recommend doing it on your first or second day to get a true feel of the city and how BEST to get around it, on bikes! I’ve been coming to Montreal for years, and I’ve done this tour several times. Marie-Pier is hands down the quintessential Montreal tour guide, and in fact one of many reasons I keep coming back here. Great fun, could spend all day talking to her about life in this phenomenal city. Highly recommend anyone make this a part of your visit.

Our guide, JEFF was very informative, approachable and gave the impression that he truly enjoyed guiding us. The route was very manageable and gave us a good overview of the city and a few of it's neighborhoods that (most?) tourists probably miss. Riding thru and learning about The Green Alley, The Plateau, Mural Art & Portuguese influences were our favorites and JEFF delivered his insights with passion. The meeting location also worked well and Danny (S&P/owner/mgr.) was very organized and engaging.
Although we enjoyed the ice cream stop.....could have used the "stop time" more usefully perhaps(?).....Would highly recommend S&P to other travelers.

We had a great experience with Spade & Palacio. I always begin my time in a new city with a bike tour to learn about the spirit and culture from the locals. Danny showed us his Montreal and it was "chefs kiss"! Highly recommend for couples as well as for traveling with teens. Danny's humor is spot on and is guaranteed to keep teens and adults entertained.
