Great private tour of Old Montreal
We really enjoyed this walking tour with our guide, Julian. He's very knowledgeable and generous in sharing his knowledge about his wonderful city. He was very good about checking in with us about what we particularly wanted to see during our private tour. Covered all the high points, history and architecture. Also, he recommended a terrific restaurant, Vieux-Port Steakhouse, where we enjoyed a terrific meal. We really enjoyed our time with Julian, thank you for a great day!

    Great Intro to Montreal
We enjoyed a walking tour of Montreal with Carole L. M. We had unforeseen time issues so Carole quickly adapted our tour so that we could see and learn the most in limited time, even concluding at our cruise entrance. She was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic--we loved Montreal and can't wait to return!

    Well spent 2 hours
This tour was included as part of a package train tour we were on. Christian was our guide for our private group of 3. He was well informed, knowledgeable and entertaining. He took us around old Montréal and explained the areas, architecture and history of Montréal plus suggestions where we could go later on our own and directions to follow. So much information and had answers to all our questions. We all recommend Christian. Thank you!

A walking tour of the above and below Montreal
We had a private tour with Carol. Our group found Carol informative and interesting to listen to about Montreal history, architecture, art and the local activities in the area. Thanks for the great tour.

Great tour with a very knowledgeable guide. We saw a lot and learned a lot. Out guide Christian asked for our preferences for the tour and answered all our questions. We highly recommend going on a private walk to to capture the history and essence of the city. We also highly recoomend Christian as a guide.

    Depth of Information
We so enjoyed our tour around Old Montreal with Sylvain. He was completely easy going and had a wonderful binder of visual references that gave us so much additional context beyond what we could see in person. I was impressed at the scope of knowledge he had about other buildings and questions we had beyond what we stopped to see! A tour was so important, since we only had one day of good weather before a very rainy weekend. Thanks!

    Tour Falsely Presented
This tour is falsely presented. It is advertised as a "private" tour of up to 15 people. We booked the tour with 4 people, but when we arrived for the tour we were told it wasn't a private tour, but a group tour of 15 people. It was not that interesting and a complete waste of money.

    Informative Comprehensive Tour
The things we saw underground were quite interesting, but I was hoping to see more underground, as opposed to above ground. Our tour guide Nicole did a very good job of explaining all that we took in during the tour.

    VIP guided walk: Old Montreal
Our guide was Claire. We had never visited Montreal before. She brought the city to life with just the right amount of information, humor, patience and a real sense of knowing and loving her city. We think it was the best guided walk ever. Thank you. We love Montreal too!

We booked the tour based on the description that a tour of Notre Dame is included in the price. We were mistaken. Please take this into account when purchasing if you plan to see Notre Dame.

The guide was informative but lacked depth of historical knowledge of Old Montreal. She was very good at high level details but skimmed the rest. It seemed like it lacked structure. She was good but not great.

We were originally booked for both tours but decided to skip the West portion in favor of Notre Dame since it is missed in the advertised tour.

Bonjour 2690kw, As of January 1st 2020, we do not include the Notre-Dame Basilica in the Old Montreal East and West tours. We are sorry that you were disappointed. We are aware that the change on the interface has not been made yet, but we are working to change it as soon as possible. Thank you for taking the time to write a constructive review. We did the afternoon only portion of this tour, as we already had experienced much of the area covered in the morning. Our guide Elise was fantastic, very knowledgeable and kept a good pace, sharing with us historical and architectural details of the various buildings and areas. She also gave great coffee shop recommendations! The highlight was taking us to the observation deck in the archaeological museum, which we were able to do because we had a smaller group; wonderful views of the port and surrounding areas. Great tour, highly recommend it!

Hi Kay, Very happy you enjoyed the afternoon tour and some of the city's better coffee shops. (Recommending restaurants and coffee shops is an art!) We will let Elise know she was appreciated. Best,

Today I joined both East and West side tour for Old Montreal with Elise. She is really knowledgeable about the history of the city and is super fun explaining the history. She also made lots of recommendations for people from lookout at the Museum to restaurants to eat at. Highly recommend the tour if you want to learn more about the history of the city while getting your steps in.

We did both East ad. West walking tours. Sarah, was our guide on both tours. Despite the weather not cooperating for the first half, it did not dampen Sarah’s spirit and she gave a lively history of the East end first. This was a great review of the history of Montreal with a 90 minute easy walking trip around the area. It was delivered at a good pace ( our tour was in English)
The west half began about an hour break after the east tour. This is enough time for a bite to eat and plenty of places in old Montreal to try. The west tour accounted for some of the newer history and was more about the business side and development of Montreal.
Excellent way to get a feel of old Montreal and Sarah was very knowledgeable - and more importantly, local!

Our tour guide was absolutely amazing! He was informative, knowledgeable, and really made for the perfect tour. Some tour guides tell you more about their personal lives than the city itself. But this tour was exactly what i wanted. Cool facts, and history and origin of the city of Montreal.

This was a fantastic start to our Old Montreal family vacation. My wife and I have been to Montreal several times in the past but this was our first tour here. Taking a tour really opens your eyes to so many details that you would otherwise miss in a city with so much history. Our guide, Stacey was very knowledgeable and passionate about Montreal. We did the full 3-hour tour which included a nice break for lunch in between tours of the East and West sides. Our daughters had a terrific time and learned so much about the city. We also met a wonderful couple on the tour who made the experience even more fun and memorable.

We elected to take both the East and West tours which were 1 1/2 hours each, broken up with one hour for lunch. Our guide provided us with an overview of Montreal's history and went into detail depending upon where we were and what buildings we were looking at. Matthieu was a French speaking native of the area, but his English was perfectly understandable. We learned a lot of things that we didn't know. The walking isn't fast paced or difficult, however, there are cobblestoned streets in Old Montreal, so good walking shoes are a must.

We did both the east and west tours with just an hour lunch break between. The tours as individuals tours were very good, the guide gave good information although she could get side tracked at times. The one thing I would say is that the two tours back to back were a lot. A lot of walking and a lot of information to try to take in.
I would recommend these tours but not back to back, do them over two days to give yourself time to digest what you’ve seen.

Hi Derek, You're absolutely right. Three hours of walking tours in one day is not for everyone! We of course like to offer as much flexibility as possible for those who want to do both and have limited time, but absolutely, you can spread your tour over two days. Thanks for taking the time to provide your feedback and let others know spreading the two tours over two days is an option they might want to consider. All the best,

We went on the afternoon tour. It was interesting at some points but boring at others. Our guide was nice and knowledgeable when asked questions, but was very repetitive and would state the same facts over 3 times. Feels like there was opportunity for more information to be shared rather than the same information 3 times. Also, when walking from site to site, it would have been nice to be learning at that time as well. I think the tour could be improved by adding additional stories about the people who lived in the buildings.

This was the only tour on Trip Advisor we could book the same day and we were not disappointed. We did both morning and afternoon tours and found them interesting, informative, and essential for understanding the history of the city and its role in the world. If you can, ask for Jo Ann! She was smart, efficient, irreverent and experienced. We have taken countless tours in many cities around the world. This was among the best.
