VIP means there were just a few of us on the tour, which was very nice. Our guide was a middle aged woman whose knowledge of the city and its history was very impressive, and whose voice i could listen too all day long. Walking tours with knowledgable guides is the way to go.

We spent about one hour of a two hour tour in stores - a maple store and a souvenir market. I could do that myself without spending money on a tour if I wanted to. I did not . i thought we would spend the two hours learning about Montreal.

The VIP tour normally includes a 10-15 minute break for a coffee and/or a treat that is included in the price of the tour (in the maple boutique or elsewhere), half way through or at the end of the visit. The main focus of the tour is history, architecture and relevant anecdotes about Old Montréal. Our guides are instructed to keep the visit about these topics and to not include any other stops, especially not in souvenir markets. You may be referring to Bonsecours Market, which has a lot of historical value. It does now house shops selling local crafts. If you would be kind enough to contact us directly to indicate the name of your guide or to share any additional feedback, it would certainly help us followup with your guide.
