    A+ Montreal Underground Tour
This was a very good tour for the first day in Montreal. After which we were able to find our way comfortably around the city despite the weather being 20F outside. I would recommend it. I didn’t realize Montreal had such a huge underground network. Catherine our guide was very informative and good natured. Thanks again!!

    Winter trip
Our guide was knowledgeable and super friendly. She made the tour so enjoyable. It was our first trip to Montreal, Canada, and since it’s winter month, we didn’t want to spend too much time outside. This tour was mostly inside, but we did get to go outdoor to see many important landmarks. I would highly recommend taking this tour when visiting Montreal.

    Downtown is a must!
It’s a must! Downtown area has a lot of place to go too. Underground City is a pretty cool place and has a very interesting story. Elise was so nice and made me feel i’m not alone on my trip here. The people i’m with are really friendly, I’m lucky I guess. I’ll definitely come back soon.

Must do on the front end of your trip
Martin was a fantastic friendly tour guide. He took time to greet each of the parties in our group before the tour began. Threw in some sprinkling of history not only of the RESO but made sure to bring us above ground to take in a couple of the beautiful city centers, Victoria square, Notre Dame and more. After the tour we felt much more confidant navigating the underground network on our own, but know that you’ll need some maps to help you along the way. We recommend providing a copy of the map of connected buildings and passageways via paper at the end of the tour. We would recommend this tour and Martin to anyone traveling to Montreal.

Great Introduction to our Montreal visit
Isabelle was fantastic. We learned so much about Montreal. Highly recommend. We got to see the art installation of the underground that we would have missed if we tried to do this on our own.

    A great tour of Montreal
Martin was great. This was a great way to explore the RESO and to learn some history of Montreal. While much of the tour is inside, there are outdoor moments so good to wear warm clothes in the winter.

Great historical tour, FANTASTIC guide (Elise)
My sister and I did this tour yesterday, and we fell in love with Elise, our tour guide. She could not have been warmer or more delightful. Very knowledgable, and she gave us options in a couple of instances so we could tailor the tour to our small group's likes. We wanted to take the Old Montreal walking tour with her as well, but couldn't make it work between her schedule of tours and our time frame. The underground city is 21 MILES of tunnels, shops, restaurants, hotels, etc. You need this tour, because it's maze-like and almost impossible to find your way around in without a guide. We assumed the tour would be mostly of the three (?) shopping malls, but that's not at all the case; Elise provided us with lots of history and landmark spaces, which was really great. HIGHLY recommend.

We took a tour with Rene' and he was outstanding. It was our first time in Montreal Canada and this tour was the first thing we did. Rene' was highly engaging during the tour, providing just the right amount of historical infomation. He was humorus, knowledgeable and professional. We took the tour with three of our kids, 23yr and 17yr old twins and Rene' was able to keep everyone from young to old entertained. I would highly recommed this tour company, we felt that we got our money's worth and they were very communicative on where to meet and what time etc...

My wife and I booked this tour to explore Old Montreal. The tour guide name was Amelie. She was very passionate about Quebec and its history and is very knowledgeable about the area and at the end, she gave us a list of which places to go to eat, and get souvenirs. Going there in winter, you should prepare yourself for the cold and wear snow boots 👢 and warm gloves. Thankfully there were parts of the tour where we went inside buildings to get a break from the cold. The only negative part of the experience was that in the email confirmation it said for us to meet at the Marche Saint Laurent Cafe/boutique, but they did not specify which one. We went to the one inside the Palais de Congres but the actual meeting point was at the Marche Saint Laurent Cafe that was in front of the Notre Dame Basilica. So my wife and I, although we were early, we still arrived late. The website should make it clear which Marche Saint Laurent Cafe to meet. Despite this, overall we enjoyed the tour and learning more about Quebec and Montreal history and would highly recommend esp. for the value (the tour was not too pricey for us).

Bonjour Michael! We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your tour with fabulous Amelie! Her passion and knowledge is unparalleled. Thanks for highlighting that winter attire is crucial for attending our tour during the colder months. It's even more enjoyable when you're properly dressed for the elements! As to your comment about the meeting location, we respectfully ask that you have another look at what was sent to you. This is a great opportunity for us to emphasize the importance of carefully reading your ticket voucher and the meeting point details included in the multiple forms of communication sent out before the tour. Guests are sent several confirmations and reminders, all of which clearly state the meeting point: outside Marché Saint Laurent café, at the specific street address 503 Place d'Armes, along with a Google Maps link to the exact location. MTL Detours takes great care to provide these clear, detailed instructions precisely to help avoid any confusion. In this case, sadly it appears that the issue wasn’t with the clarity of the instructions but with them not being fully reviewed :( We’re sorry for the inconvenience you experienced and we're glad that you liked the tour. We hope you enjoy the rest of your time in Montreal and thank you for the recommendation!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our walking tour of Old Montreal. Our guide was a wealth of information and clearly loved her job! It was very cold the afternoon of our tour and it would have been understandable if someone left the tour early. However, our guide was so informative and entertaining that no one left early and several of us took her suggestion for a quick bite at a crepe restaurant after the tour ended. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend any tour by MTL Detours!

I went for the tour with my Dad - I’ve been to Montreal a few times it was his first. Both of us learned so much and got a great sense of the history of Old Montreal! Isabel was an amazing guide and was a fountain of knowledge and her passion and love for her city really came through. I would recommend this tour to anyone in Montreal for the first time or people looking to rediscover the history of the city!

We had such an enjoyable experience on our tour of Montreal with Louise as our guide. She was incredibly knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and attentive, always ensuring everyone could hear her and inviting questions throughout. Her storytelling truly brought the city's rich history to life, giving us insights we would have never discovered on our own. This tour is a fantastic way to spend two hours and will greatly enhance any visit to this beautiful city. Highly recommended!"

This company was very accommodating to our changing schedule and was able to squeeze us in last minute. Groups are small – about 10 people, which was great compared to other companies which had very large groups.

Louise, our tour guide gave us an overview of the history of Montreal and then led us on our walking tour. It was informative, entertaining, and an awesome introduction to Montreal! We left with ideas of which areas to explore, restaurants to eat at, and museums we wanted to pop into. I highly recommend this company and Louise as a guide!

We were camping in the Adirondaks Park for a week and decided on a day trip to Montreal. MTLdetours was a great choice. We were part of a small group of tourists and our guide Aleise was exceptional with her knowledge of the city and it's history.
At the end of the tour Aleise assisted in getting transportation on the bus to and back so we could purchase Montreal Bagels. 5 stars to MTL

Great mix of history, architecture, things to do and current understanding of Quebecois culture. I would highly recommend this tour for first time visitors to Montreal.

Our guide Jeff was very knowledgeable (history teacher) and fun. He was great at answering whatever questions were asked, and clearly enjoyed doing so.

BTW Jeff, the Peruvian-Chinese fusion restaurant is called Chifa. It’s on De Bleury.

Thanks to our guide, Gabriela, we received a very informative and captivating tour of east and west Old Montreal. There is so much history here and our guide was both knowledgeable and interesting to listen to. We would highly recommend doing this tour… especially on your first day of touring as it gives places to see and experience later on.

We really enjoyed this tour. It included only 10 people and walked about a mile and a half. Even though the weather was warm, our guide, Tom did a good job of finding shady spots and helping us learn about the history of Montreal and enjoy the local flair. Our favorite parts were the statues at the beginning and also getting the opportunity to see old Montreal up close from a local we would highly recommend this. Bring a water bottle and make sure that you wear comfortable shoes! Definitely worth booking!
