Make your way to a central location in Quebec City’s Upper Town, and then join your guide for a small-group tour of the historic center—a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Set out on foot to running commentary on the modern-day culture and long history of Quebec City, passing stone buildings with a distinctly European feel. You’ll see the Fortifications of Quebec, and learn the important role that the city walls once played. Pass La Citadelle de Quebec (Quebec Citadel), an active military installation and the official residence of the Canadian monarch, then take in Notre Dame des Victoires—one of the oldest stone churches in Canada. Cross Place Royale, often called the birthplace of French America, and wrap up the tour near the base of the Old Quebec Funicular, where you can hop a ride back up to the Upper Town without retracing your steps uphill.

Wonderful day and tour in Quebec
ReJeanne was a wonderful tour guide. She had an amazing handle on the history, shared the info well, all with a very pleasant delivery. She was gracious and has such a nice personality. Was a treat to have a tour with a multi generational Quebecoise.

    Lovely city tour
Great tour of Quebec. Terry was a fantastic guide. Very knowledgeable of the history, the architecture, and the evolution of the people living in the city. He was personable, like walking around with an old friend learning about the city. Highly recommend.

    Great time
A private tour, with Aimee, was delightful. Instead of listening to a general talk, we conversed with our guide, who tailored the tour for our needs. We would definitely recommend this private tour.

Just Exactly what you want from a private tour!
This was a fantastic tour through old Quebec City. Michele P was a delightful, knowledgeable and thorough guide. He answered all our questions, gave us the opportunity to go places based on our interests and even helped us adjust our tour for the next day. This is exactly what I am looking for when I book a private tour guide. Michele P was absolutely wonderful and this was a perfect tour.

    Good info but too long
Our guide was knowledgeable about Quebec City history and we walked around both the upper and lower portions seeing the sights. So the tour delivered what was promised. My only complaint was that the guide went over an additional hour-we stayed hoping there would be more valuable information but he really just rambled on. Judging by the expressions of the group’s faces, we were all bored and ready for it to end. The guides should know how to condense their information to the expected 2 hours-more definitely wasn’t better.

    Walking Old Quebec City
Mark was a great guide. Showed us an amazing Quebec City in its beauty. The rain didn’t spoil the experience and we got to enjoy the streets with less crowds. We loved the intimacy of a private tour. It felt like a close friend showed his city to you. Thank you for an amazing day

We recommend a private tour with Tours Voir Quebec!
Jim D. Jim is fluent in both Quebecois and English. He was very interesting and informative, and gave us a good appreciation of the areas of Old Quebec City, mentioning many historical sites to visit in depth, and recommended places to eat. He was very responsive to our specific questions about the City's history. We were prepared to do more walking, however there was less walking than we expected. (We are very fit late 60s from the mountains.) It was a great beginning for our 3 full days in Q.C. Private tours are the way to go!

A great way to appreciate a beautiful city.
My wife and I booked a private walking tour with Denis. We had a terriic time. We covered a wide range of sites, and were provided with a cultural, historical interpretation. This tour is sell worth it if you want some in depth knowledge of this fascinating city.

Great introduction to a Great City
The best private walking trips combine historical perspective, cultural experience , and personal opinion from a seasoned guide. With Jocelyne we got the whole package. What a delightful morning. Would recommend her to anyone seeing Quebec for the 1st or 15th time!

    Quebec Walking Tour
My family and I went on a private walking tour of Quebec. Our tour guide, Elisabeth, was very knowledgeable about Quebec and it was interesting to hear about the various historical facts. However, there were times that Elisabeth walked ahead of us and didn't look back to see if we were following/ready. Also, I wish the tour started at the bottom level first instead of last, because it was tiring to walk up the stairs after a long walking tour.

    Awesome
Our tour guide, Robert Sihard, was amazing. He was very knowledgeable, personable, and informative. He spent four hours on our private tour teaching us about the history of Quebec -covering architecture , battles, and people. He also made sure we knew where to eat and shop. The best!

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Jocelyn Belleau. She was very entertaining and presented a wonderful insight into how Quebec City came to be in its present day state. The tour was just the right length of time and she gave great tips on places to eat/shop. She is very kind, warm and welcoming and has the perfect personality for her job. This was evident not just in how she treated her tour participants but also in watching her interactions with other locals that she knew along the route. Would highly recommend this tour.

This was an excellent walking tour lasting over two hours taking in the old town both up high and down below.

Our guide was Yves who was very knowledgeable indeed about the history, architecture and other key facts and figures about the city. He was also a very friendly and likeable guide.

We covered a good distance during the tour and learned many interesting facts not just about old Quebec but also about Canadian history in general.

I believe this was good value for money and enjoyed the experience very much.

It was a super warm day for June and Yves made his best efforts to find the group some shade if at all possible.

I would highly recommend this company and tour if you are in old Quebec and want to know more about it.

Yves was also very happy to recommend local restaurants and other activities after the tour.

We had a fantastic tour guide! Francis...he was so interesting, knowledgeable and told the history as if it was a story book with fun and interesting anecdotes....he held the attention of adults and children alike, and animated everything in both official langages in order to accommodate our 6 family members who are half French only and half English only! He was amazing! Everyone came away with interesting informative facts about our history! Even though we had visited Quebec City multiple times before, we saw the city in a whole new light! Great job Francis!

My husband and I took the walking tour on a very cold, windy December morning. Our guide Richard was knowledgeable and personable with a lively sense of humor, and he made sure that we had warm up stops along the way. We came away vastly more informed about the fascinating history of the city and with lots of recommendations of things to do and places to eat for the rest of the day. At the end of the tour Richard gave us a discount card to use for the virtual reality tour that the same company offers. We did that tour the next morning and enjoyed it, too!

This was the first walking tour we did when we got to Quebec City and it was outstanding. Clarice did an amazing job of showing us around the old city, explaining the historical significance of the places we visited, as well as pointing out other points of interest (including restaurant recommendations). It was a great way to get oriented to the city, and I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is visiting Quebec.

Our Guide, Louise Labelle, was very knowledable and immersed us in the history of “the cradle of French Canadian civilization “. The walk was well paced and Louise shared some interesting and unique tidbits relating to the history of the city. She also had great suggestions as to where to shop and dine. Two thumbs up!

I highly recommend taking the tour at the start of your visit to help you get situated with the area. Joycelyn has the perfect personality for a tour guide and she was engaging, funny, and very knowledgeable about the history of Quebec City and Canada. We learned so much about the culture, historic people and French and English architecture . She even explained one of the many huge art murals in town .
Do dress appropriately for weather and wear comfortable shoes . We had a light dusting of snow so some of the streets and sidewalks were slick. They do have railings on some of the streets to hang on to. The city and most storefronts did a beautiful job decorating the streets with trees and Christmas lights...absolutely beautiful ! Go to the outdoor German Market !!

I also recommend taking funicular back up to the walled city for the experience and view, especially if you're tired form walking up all the stairs and hills . They do take American dollars $5 (cash only)

We really enjoyed our tour with Denis. He showed up right on time and we were a very small group. His English was very good and he knew so much about the history of the city. He said it was our tour, not his, so he would stop and talk about any thing or place as long as the people in the group wanted to stay there/on that subject. He gave lots of insider’s tips about where to eat, shop, explore. It gave us ideas for things to do later in the day. I recommend taking the walking tour as early in your visit to the city as possible so you can follow up later by further exploring the places that they recommend on the tour. We had explored the city on our own the night before, and he took us back to some of the places that we had already been, but without knowing the history or the meaning behind the places, they’re nowhere near as meaningful. After the tour, we really had a sense of the culture and pride of the people of Quebec.

The booking was easy to make and we discovered a Quebec city that we had never seen before. Francis, our delightful tour guide, was very knowledgeable and entertaining and presented a history of Quebec in a very interesting and unbiased way.
Francis set a new standard for us on what to expect from a tour guide, and if we find that he does other tours, we would love to do those tours as well. For those who want a very interesting and entertaining presentation, we encourage you to take this tour, even if you have had previous Quebec city walking tours. You will love it, just like we did.

We were in Quebec City for several days for an event and wanted to take an informative tour of Old Quebec. We settled on this walking tour and we are glad we did!

Francis was our guide and immediately we could tell he was going to be fun. He is a history and architecture buff, with a wealth of knowledge of the area. Everywhere we turned he shared fantastic details with a stellar personality blending candor and humor.

Our tour ran slightly over the designated two hours and we would have been happy to spend twice that much time learning about this beautiful city.

HIGHLY recommend this tour if you'd like to learn about the history and architecture of Old Quebec from an extremely knowledgeable local.

Another kudos for his speaking very LOUD and CLEAR... easily heard even in more noisy environments.

Note: we heard a couple folks with thin skin and delicate sensibilities may not take kindly to factual relaying of historical events. That's a shame to go through life looking to be offended. Francis is a gem. Highly recommend. 🤙🏼🤙🏼
