About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Melissa G0 contributionsVisit for the dayWe opted to buy the day passes to see the ice hotel and thought it was expensive at around $100 for 4 of us. However, to stay in the ice hotel was about $450/night. Bathrooms are a communal trailer outside the sleeping accommodations for guests. However, visiting for the day allowed us to see and experience everything except sleeping in the cold. Definitely glad that we visited for the day.Written January 19, 2025
- Heipau0 contributionsGreat insights of local history and today in Quebec CityOur host Mark was great. I felt like he made sure everyone is welcomed and heard if there may be some questions. We got a good dose of history and some interesting details. I personally enjoyed the insight into today's life in Quebec. I would recommend this tour.Written December 29, 2024
- marybR2226RF0 contributionsQuebec City - just wonderful quaintnessOur driver, Daniel, was a fabulous tour guide for the city he plainly loves. It was the first thing we did to confirm what things we wanted to do during our visit. We were able to learn the layout of the city which helped us each day on our daily excursions. We appreciated a driver who gave a live narration of the town in both English and in French. We recommend this as a first to all visitors.Written December 10, 2024

- Lucy P0 contributionsA city worth visiting again and soonWe were celebrating 50 years of friendship, and this city didn't disappoint us at all. Our accommodation on Rue Rampart was exactly as described. The scenic boat ride on the St Lawrence River was informative and fun. The restaurants were outstanding, 1640 all 3 meals were phenomenal, but my pork chop dinner was the hit of the evening. Chateau Frontenac was a sight to see, and dining there was a treat that we will remember for the next 50 years or longer. The food, service, ambiance, and a window table over looking the lights along the river were spectacular.Written October 31, 2024
- 315patricab0 contributionsGreat Overview of the CityWe started with the City Sightseeing Cruise and took the bus tour the second day. A great way to see the many facets of Quebec City. Entertaining and knowledgeable guide (Carol?). We highly recommend.Written October 29, 2024
- Daydream6206660 contributionsHad us wondering at first! This started off on a bad note as about 10 of us from a cruise ship waited at the Museum stop for about 40 minutes on Tuesday and no bus came! We all decided that as our time was limited we would just stroll the city. We happened across the Quebec City tourist office and the lady in there was able to change our ticket for the next day. We caught the first bus on Wednesday at the same stop. The tour was excellent with very good commentary. I would highly recommend this tour. Good value!Written October 25, 2024
- X932UVkathyh0 contributionsNever experienced the tourWe ended up cancelling our reservation as no bus showed up. The ones going the other way would not stop. There was no information on how to start the tour; we had to find ask several people and finally found a street sign. We stood there for almost an hour and never saw a bus. To be fair, the cancellation request was granted within an hour of our request.Written October 23, 2024
- 127debys0 contributionsThe Best Way to See This Beautiful CityThe Hop On Hop Off buses “up on top” were a bit chilly this time of year, but where they took us and the information was top notch as always!!! We chose the two day package with the Falls included. We are currently doing the 2 PM cruise. Our only complaint is that It was bit difficult to find where to board the ship and when? They were great when I called the Unitours office to check! It’s really worth seeing the city this way!!!Written October 18, 2024

- 182carolm0 contributionsThe Top View Always The Best ViewWhen visiting a large city we always take advantage of the Hop On Hop Off bus tours. It gives you a feel of the area, chance to see where you want to return to visit and also just to experience the feel of the city. We purchased our tickets online, downloaded to phone - all easy - asked for recommendation from hotel where was best place to find parking and then get on at a stop. Parking was easy - finding the closest stop was not. But we got a great walk in before we finally found stop. Raymond was our tour guide and he gave a great 1.5 hour commentary. Kudos to the driver on the tight turns on narrow streets filled with cars. Tour was worth the price and always recommend doing.Written October 11, 2024

Our party of 4 (parents and two young adults) went on this tour to see some of the sights outside of Quebec City, since we did not rent a car. The day we went was chilly with rain, which did affect the experience a little. After many days of lots of walking, it was nice to sit on the bus for a while. Our guide, Alain, seemed to know a lot about the stops we made (he had quite a family history with St. Anne de Beaupre), but did not seem open to questions. The chocolate shop and copper art place were fine, but I would rather have had more time at St. Anne de Beaupre and Montmorency Falls. In addition, we had to pay extra for the cable car ride at the falls when we got there, which we didn't know ahead of time. I would rather have paid a little more upfront, since I'm sure that Unitours could have gotten a decent group rate and not lost money even if some people didn't go up. As it was, we barely had time to go up and see the falls. If the weather had been better and the site more crowded, we might not have been able to do this stop in the time allotted. I'm glad we went. However, it reminded me why we usually prefer to travel independently rather than take guided tours--limited time stops and waiting for the group to return to the bus can get frustrating.

Our bus tour driver was excellent. Very informative, very funny, a very nice delivery. Safe driver and very knowledgeable about the area.
Our one disappointment was the stop at the chocolatier. There were 3 buses of tourists and others all descended at the same time. It was just ridiculous and very poorly planned which is no fault of our driver. The touring companies must do a better job of planning these excursions. Don’t plan for 3 bus loads of people to visit a place that cannot handle more than 30 people at a time.

My sister and I booked this tour because we were excited to see the Montmorency Falls and the Ste Anne Basilica. The tour offered us a brief visit to both locations but not enough time to fully experience either. The tour includes a drive to Isle d'Orleans with a 20 minute stop at a nice chocolate/ice cream shop. There was also a stop at a copper art gallery. I would have preferred not to have these 2 stops included in the tour, allowing more time to explore the falls and Bascilica. I expected that a guided tour of the Bascilica was included but it was not. We were dropped off in the parking lot with no direction of where to go. The front of the building was under construction and we had to find an alternate entrance and in 40 minutes had to be back on the bus. The visit to the falls was disappointing. Not only was the cable car to the top of the falls not included, but the bus driver told us not to take the cable car because it takes too much time to wait for the return cable car and we'd miss the bus. I am not healthy enough to walk up over 400 stairs so was not able to see the top of the falls from the suspension bridge. More time is required at the falls as the cable car is the best part of the visit and the cost should have been included.

According to the Trip Advisor/Viator/Unitours operator, the September 13, 2024 event was advertised as a "Half-Day Trip to Montmorency Falls and Ste-Anne-de Beaupre from Quebec City with a 1:00 pm departure. The tour started late and first we went to the island of Ile de-Orleans and stopped at a chocolate shop for about 45 min. Then about an hour tour of the island followed by a visit to Ste-Anne de Beaupre (that was nice.) We then stopped at a place where they sold copper artwork. By the time we arrived at Montmorency Falls, the sun was setting and all the amenities were closed, including the cable car to the top of the falls. We didn't have time to even walk up the steps to the top of the falls. I believe a better option for this tour is to have a cab take you to the locations you really want to see.

We booked this tour thinking the maximum number of tourists would be up to 45. DO NOT TAKE THIS TOUR. We were on a double decker bus (Unitours) over 70 people. It was so crowded we could not sit with family, ended up sitting alone. The falls were the only enjoyable part of the tour. Note, the bus drops you off below the falls, and you will need to pay additional to take the tram up to see the falls. You can uber or take a different tour where they drop you off at the top, and its a short walk to the falls. Not worth the price or the time wasted driving around the country side with a very large group.

The scenic isle drive and the Falls were fantastic!! However, It was very confusing and unorganized trying to figure out which bus to get on. They made no effort to seat couples together when multiple singles were filling seats for a 5 hour day. The tour guide was difficult to understand. I was also very disappointed that more time was spent at the copper museum and chocolate factory leaving only a few minutes at the Falls. We were unable to explore the top or stairs and barely had time to walk straight to the Falls and back.

We started this tour off on the with a real challenge. We arrived about 20 minutes early at the designated meeting place … there was no one there. We asked a security guard nearby who directed us to stand nearby. Somehow we missed the tour bus and guide. At precisely 2 minutes after the designated arrival time, we received a phone call from Unitours telling us we had missed the bus and had to take a cab to the next stop on the tour. We are not sure why they could not have called us a minute or two earlier so that we could have made the bus. We were glad to finally join the tour but we left wondering about why a tour company would treat visitors to Quebec City so rudely. The tour visited some interesting places but we were disappointed. The guide was also the bus driver. He drove and talked most of the way … many people on the bus just talked over him.

It's billed as a trip to the falls but only 25% is spent there. Wasted time at a chocolate store could be eliminated. The trip to the basilica was good, it's an impressive church and if you are of the faith worth the time. The copper museum was interesting. Spend more time at the falls...its a natural wonder and you should have time to take the gondola up to the top. Would only recommend for people who want to check the box of seeing the falls or who physically can't do the walking

This journey was such a find. We signed up for the Trip the day before. I had planned to drive from Quebec, while we were staying at the Hilton Hotel but then found this wonderful tour which included Montmorency Falls, Saint Anne De Beaupre the Island of "orleans' in the middle of the Saint Lawrence River and Curves D’art - Albert Gilles a shop and museum which has been making beautiful copper items for almost 100 years including the doors on Saint Anne De Beaupre!!!!
The tour can be easily found online and/or at the information center which is opposite the Chateau Frontenac , and leaves from Rue Saint Anne just in the square where the Chateau is ,and you see the large multicolored UNtours and there is a guide there to reassure you are in the right place! ;-)
The trip was a guided tour with François who was born in Saint Anne De Beaupre and baptized in the church. He has been a guide for many years, and his stories were amazing having been born and raised in the area.
The tour was 4 stops, as mentioned above with ample time at each stop and history and stories were told along the way which were very entertaining.
The Isle of Orleans is a fascinating little place preserved in time, with no high rises and only one stop light on the entire Island.
The road to Montmorency Falls was a winding road thru little homes of all kinds dotted with little chapels and again, more enlightening and fascinating stories were told along that leg of the journey.
You will not be disappointed with this tour, François was amazing and spoke both French and English Fluently. If I was in Quebec again, I would go on this tour a 2nd time it was just that much fun!!

Focus of trip was supposed to be the Falls. Once we arrived, we were told the shop as well as bridge crossing the falls were closed.
Our first stop on tour was at a chocolatier on the Isle. We arrived at same time as another tour bus and basically our guide said “run” so we could get inside before others. The shop is quite small and it would have been more enjoyable to leisurely walk around rather than a rushed visit.
The highlight of tour was visiting cathedral of St. Anne. Wish we had more time there.

This tour shows no availability for May or June...actually none for the rest of the year. Do they only show a few months at a time or has tour been discontinued for 2022?
Written March 23, 2022
I notice that the falls are listed twice on the itinerary. Does the tour stops there twice? Also most of the reviews complain that there is not enough time at the falls. Will we have time to take the cable car to the top, go over the suspension bridge and get back down before the bus leaves? We are going in June. Thanks!
