      Will not recommend
It’s a moneymaking business. I have never seen anybody watching whale. They always say that you will get to see this or that however it 2hr 30 min ride where they will make you match an old ship. Seals sleeping. And a tiny waterfall.

      5-STAR FOOD CRUISE LINE!!
Please be advised this review is for entertainment purposes only. I am not an AML employee or am I related to an AML employee. I'm just a person sharing my experience on Quebec City's AML Cruise. To begin the review, I must say AML have a well "oiled machine" of a team. Their waitstaff are likely the most efficient team I have witnessed anywhere. As a former waiter, I'd love working with that team. Now as a business owner, I understand the need to generate revenue. However, even I know there is a limit to the level of customer revenue extraction. There is the upkeep of the ship, a maintenance team to pay for... etc. The ticket prices are below expectation for the experience. The drink fair on the ship is insulting exorbitant. Near $100 for a bottle of Valpolicella that I personally purchase in stores for $17 is ridiculous. AML - your customers are not dumb. I advise you to buy one drink for dinner and drink water the rest of the night. Hopefully AML doesn't start charging for tap water. The cocktail was nice, but overpriced and seriously short on size. When it comes to purchasing tickets, it is important to note the more expensive your ticket, the closer to the window you are. There is only one 'dinner cruise boat' per day. If you buy the 3-course meal, you get to watch the 4th and 5th course eaten by people 2-3 seats closer to the window. Not entirely fun. Some of you are wondering if the Signature upgrade is worth it. It's not. Refer to the $100 bottle of wine earlier in this review. If you want to be on the upper deck, you must purchase the Red Carpet VIP ticket. Now - the food. The food is really.... FANTASTIC!! I'm sure ChatGPT or grammarly could come up with a better word than FANTASTIC. But really no word could be as generous to fit how good the meal is. You will not be disappointed. The shrimp hors d'oeuvre, salad antipasto, rabbit prelude, the main course (choice of beef cheek, beef tenderloin, roasted chicken and salmon) and especially the blueberry dessert - are all amazing! Tuesday's and Thursday's there is a firework display over the water. It's best to go up on deck as soon as dinner is done to get a great view of the front of the boat. The fireworks are on display when looking at the front of the boat. You will not be able to see the fireworks from the dining room on the lower deck. Words of caution: - buying tickets in advance online is highly recommended. Seating is planned well in advance. Buying tickets on the day of results in sporatic seating into open seats. A group of 6 could be scatters among many tables and not situated close to the window. Buy tickets as early as possible to be seated next to the window if that is important to you. - for customers with young kids. We love our kids, but there are certain environments where it doesn't make sense to bring our kids. And this IS one of them. You need to get in line almost 1 hour before boarding boat. Imagine waiting in line that long just to see the doors open. Then boarding takes upwards of 45 minutes. AML do an awesome job coordinating the seating, but most young kids (unless have impeccably fantastic table manners) cannot stay still for 4 hours. With the waitstaff moving around so fast, adding young kids is just not a safe idea. Sadly, if you have kids - skip it and come back to Quebec City another time without them. If you get on the boat just for a tour and the fireworks, bring some snacks or buy food and drink on the boat. It's a long 4-hour tour. It's even longer if you are hungry and thirsty. Enjoy the cruise....

Once in a lifetime is a must!!!! Thank you Tripadvisor
We opted for the whale watching tour from Quebec City. The tour bus had seen better days, however the driver was very courteous, so was Gabriella our guide. We did not see any big mammals, just some beluga whales from afar!! Without the binoculars we would not have seen any. The experience was exciting, and we all agreed we would do it again 👍👍👍

      Worth it!
Logistics were handled very well and we were well informed throughout the day. The guide, driver and crew were excellent. We did see whales and seals and beautiful scenery. What made it a 4 rather than 5 for us was that it was crowded on the boat, we didn’t have an opportunity to purchase access to the top of the boat, and food was limited to one sandwich choice (which one of us is allergic to).

Nice, but guide should start in english and than french language
3 hour trip by bus from Quebec. The closer you get to the river the more beautiful the scenery becomes. I was the first in line for the boat, but than a family arrived and the guide let them go first and asked me and others to step aside. Did not know you could book priority boarding... On the boat the guide talked French first but way too long. She than talked english but that info was way shorter. Why don't you talk in english first with several people from Europe and also Americans and Chinese people on board?

      Enjoyable cruise on the river
We did the 3.5 hour Night Cruise with Live DJ and Dancing. Cruise was nice and the boat had a lot of room and space. Staff were all very friendly. Weather was great but it got very windy during certain parts of the ride so should have brought a jacket. The boat dropped passengers off halfway through and unfortunately not many people stayed on for the rest of the cruise and there wasn’t a live DJ. We got back to dock later than scheduled so with that plus there not being a live DJ, I took a star of my review. My friend and I still had a fun time but I would suggest doing the dinner to have something to do if you’re not super into drinking. There was a small variety of snacks and light fare available otherwise. I think it’s definitely worth it if you’re in town for a few days and the weather is good. Quebec City from the water both during the day and at night (especially sunset!) was gorgeous.

A long day but well worth the effort. We did see whales!
This was a really great day out from Quebec (8.30 am - 7.30pm). Be warned that there is a long (approx 3 hour) coach journey each way close to the St Lawrence river from Quebec but I loved it as the scenery was fantastic even if we hadnt seen any whales. The coach climbed up and over the Laurentians giving great views of mountains, interesting houses, spruce forests and the eventual widening of the river. There was an interesting stop on the way up at a local cheese factory to buy packed lunch bits if anyone wanted them. The bus was well organised and we had a good guide although the commentary given on the bus was in both French and English and strongly accented so that it was quite difficult to understand. The embarkation point for the boats is quite small (no food, just a very small gift shop). The boarding was well organised and we had an excellent, knowledgeable and enthusiastic nature guide who had no trouble finding beluga whales, a humpback that circled the boat while spouting and diving, and an abundance of porpoises and seals. We were lucky that the weather was warm and the water flat calm, making whale spotting easy. Take warm clothes and expect that you may not be as lucky as we were if the weather turns! But enjoy the ride!

Full day worth it if you’ve never had this experience
The tour leaves on time. Unfortunately we have to figure out parking for ourselves and we arrived the public parking lot had a broken machine and the park employee said the city will ticket. So we scrambled and arrived on the bus just for them to take off. I don’t speak French but my family members with me did. The guide is 80% French and 20% English for both the bus and boat. We saw plenty of whales and one came right up to the boat. They are truly amazing to see and hear! All food options were not good so I suggest you eat breakfast on your own and bring lunch. We got back to Quebec City a little after 7PM.

Failed engine of zodiac - no reimbursement
We booked this tour to get the full experience. Unfortunately the engine of the zodiac broke and we had to wait (during the paid tour on the water) for an engineer to check what is broken. He was not able to fix it and we didn’t go really outside. We had to go back very slowly when all other zodiacs went really outside to get the experience they booked. We asked for reimbursement but the company denied that. Very bad experience considering the high price you have to pay. I would NOT recommend crosieres AML!

      Disappointing Experience
very, very disappointing. We were made aware of the travel journey to Tadoussac, which was acceptable if our expectations had been met on the water. We saw NO WHALES. No option of going out on another trip or reimbursement, which would be considered the norm when going on wildlife trips in Europe. I would definitely not recommend this trip.

      Not worth it
Poor communication. They didn’t tell you that you’ll be spending 6 hours on a bus and 2 on the water. I saw a fin whale and belugas and the landscape was beautiful but it wasn’t worth the drive. They also never sent me a confirmation email so I ended up going to the office instead of the bus location. I paid $22 to rush up to the bus area. I would not do this again and kind of feel like I wasted a day that I could’ve been in Quebec City.

Invest your money in some ice cream instead.
We didn't see any whales. Just one beluga and two seals. The staff is welcoming but the tour doesn't seem to be what is expected.

Enjoyable Cruise / Excellent Tour Guide
Although scheduled in advance, the cruise was a great solution for a rainy Sunday; however, as the cruise finishes,d the clouds cleared and we were able to enjoy the outside areas and the views of Quebec City. Arrive early and find your table - right near the bar there are several high top tables. Our tour guide was excellent speaking in both French and English. We learned so much about the city, the Ile d'Orleans, the falls, and the Maple Syrup Heist (check out the hour long document on Netflix's Dirty Money, season 1, episode 5).

      Poor Customer experience
I needed to cancel the whale watching trip due to impossibility to travel as my Visa didn't arrive on time. AML is not sensible to this contingencies so better double check otherwise you'll l loose a lot of money.

Carol, our guide was lovely, competent and very easy to be with. She had old maps and photos to help illustrate the history she was describing and was extremely knowledgeable about the layout and landmarks of Quebec City and many of the characters who helped shape its history. More importantly Carol was delightful in her delivery of information and made the day even more fun for all of us. I highly recommend her; she was the very best guide we had (and they were all great) on our trip through Eastern Canada

We had a fabulous time on the cruise. The ride is extremely smooth, so if you're not usually into boat rides because of sea-sickness or anything similar, this might be an exception for you. The guide spoke very quickly as he had to cover a lot of material in both English and French in a small amount of time, but he was incredibly clear and easy to follow. He also let us know far in advance when the best time would be to take photos of the falls. You can only get so close to the falls while on the river, so if you're taking this cruise ONLY for the falls, you might be a bit disappointed. If you're looking for a nice relaxing ride on the St. Lawrence (maybe with a nice Sortilege on the rocks), this is a great choice!

After reading some of the reviews, we expected a beautiful cruise with lots of sightseeing unfortunately, not much to see as the main attraction is the beginning of the old Quebec town then the boat goes out for 45 minutes into not much to see turns around under a bridge And you get to see everything all over again . There is a guide who speaks in French and English, but what he tells you is no different than every other tour that you take.
For the money charged and how they pack the boat in to full capacity with barely a space to sit I do not believe that this is worth the money they charge. But they’re definitely very good at running up and trying to sell you their alcohol and food options. My recommendation is save your money and walk the beautiful boardwalk that Miles Long and see old Quebec for what it is by walking the streets. Interesting fact is this is where they bring the US warships for repair.
One would think you’d be on US Soil and not over the border.

Hello, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry that your cruise did not live up to your expectations and that you did not appreciate our guide's comments. It's true that if you're used to guided tours, the history of Quebec City will remain the same regardless of the type of visit. Some days the boat is fuller than others. The total capacity is 1000 passengers, but we rarely reach half that. As for our waiters, they only make sure that nobody misses anything, we are sorry if you have that they have moved the limit of the reasonable. We hope to see you soon! The AML Cruises team

We took the excursion on July 6th. It was a great ride and our narrator was dressed in period clothing and did a great job of pointing our all the sites. His narration was in both French and English. The boat ride took us up to the bridge which crosses onto Isle Orleans and alongside Montmorency Falls.
Even though the website mentions limited parking they have parking on site as along as you have your tickets. But since we spent the whole day in the lower town there is a multi-level municipal parking a few blocks east.
The boat has a bar and food available on board.

We did the private walking tour. Marie was knowledgeable and personable and made the experience feel like we were getting the rundown of this gorgeous city from a long-lost relative. We poked into intimate nooks and crannies and got excellent suggestions for follow-on activities, restaurants, etc. Highly recommended!

The activity itself was not bad but the narrator was disrupting enjoying the sceneries.
Another thing is buying the tickets directly at the place will cost much less than buying it online through trip advisor.
And unfortunately I bought it through trip advisor!

The narrator did an excellent job of speaking about the history and sights of Quebec City.
He spoke both in English and French and balance his narratives in both languages smoothly and eloquently!
    He had a wonderful voice.

A large vessel utilized for this sight seeing tour along the St. Lawrence seaway to Montmorency falls, just north of Quebec City. There’s food service on board as well as a bar. The tour was very well narrated in both French and English. Friendly staff and the price was very reasonable. One in our party utilized a wheelchair and the staff was most helpful in getting us on board.

Weather detracted a bit, but the guide was excellent. Much good history, businesses, bridge, the Montmonceryy Falls, and much more. The story of the Empress of Ireland tragic collision and loss of life—-especially in 3rd class below.

The tour guide moved around the ship quite well. We appreciated because not all of the audio speakers were as effective.

Why is no one wearing masks in Quebec?

Ai Wei Wei’s Life Jacket Public Art Installation is very powerful.

This is a great cruise with interesting narratives along the way. Wait staff will come around a couple times if you prefer staying in your seat throughout the cruise. If you feel like stretching your legs, then food and beverages are served inside the cabin, which is very spacious. On sunny days, do not forget to bring sunblock and a hat (the bigger the better because the sun will get your face and back of the neck as the ship changes ots direction). Great pic opportunities will be presented!
