About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- I2403QYanthonyd0 contributionsNorthern lights, sledding and snow mobileThe tour guides on all of our tours were amazing. Had a great experience with the family. We had 3 nights of the northern lights which produced amazing photo opportunities as well as sledding and snow mobilingWritten March 7, 2025
- EireVan0 contributionsGreat tour, super Aurora light showFour of us went Feb 22, 2025 and it was a very well run tour. Our bus driver, English girl called Amy, I think, was so friendly and professional from the moment she arrived at the hotel to collect everyone. She was informative and gently stating that the Aurora was not a sure thing but a hope. We did see them in all their glory all the while enjoying hot drinks and cookies in the Yurt with all the tour guides being super friendly and attentive both inside and outside. Yes, you can purchase photos from the company but also all the guides were more than willing to take photos with everyone's phones ensuring the best photo of both the guest and the lights. Definitely would recommend this tour company. Thanks againWritten March 6, 2025
- triciasD1996CR0 contributionsThe Yukon is extraordinaryI had an amazing trip! There were many tour options to choose from during the day, and the Aurora viewing each night was absolutely magical! I will treasure these memories, and I will definitely go back.Written March 3, 2025
- BrianMerryPhotograph0 contributionsLots to do and located right in the prime "Aurora viewing circle." Easy and frequent flights too. What an amazing tour? The guides were so polite and we saw the Aurora many times from the heated observation tents outside town on there private site. During the day we went dogsledding, sightseeingand downtown Whitehorse is such a beautiful place to hang around. Why go anywhere else?Written February 9, 2025
- dsikula0 contributionsClose, But No CigarWhile we unfortunately didn't see the Aurora, the Arctic Day people did everything they could to give us a good experience: very friendly guides and hosts, warm rooms to wait in, and good advice on where and what to look for. We knew seeing the lights would be a crapshoot, and while it didn't work for us, Arctic Day did all they could to give us a good time.Written January 20, 2025
- gailpR8129BX0 contributionsGreat experience. This was awesome. We saw the lights. The TeePees were great. They also had warm up tents to get in out of the cold. It was very cold the time we went so warming up was needed. Hot chocolate was given and a talk about Grizzy vs brown bears that was very interesting.Written January 18, 2025
- Pidgerama0 contributionsGreat tour for aurora viewingA great setup with great guides. We were not fortunate to have the aurora show up despite clear skies, but that’s not the tour’s fault nor is it in their control. You roll the dice with Northern Lights. But this is a great setup to see them for when they do appear. I recommend this tour operator highly.Written January 6, 2025
- TheNorthStar130 contributionsGreat guides but expensive photosI liked the Aurora tour but did not like the fact that they charge $20 for each photo they take. So I lowered my rating. There are other companies (Northern Tales, for instance) that give you photos for free. On a positive side - our guides were great - Rina, Jelmer, Shojiro and Marco. They were friendly, knowledgeable, patient, accommodating and fun!Written January 6, 2025
- josephgF2636QI0 contributionsEpic winter experience managed by a professional teamWe did the three-night, four-day tour with Arctic Range and loved every minute of it. While we were only able to see the Northern Lights for one night (it was too cloudy the other two nights), it still made for a wholly remarkable, memorable trip. The "office team" at Arctic Range was very helpful in rearranging our schedule when we decided to throw in two additional activities (dog sledding and snowmobiling -- both very much worth it), and the "field team" that actually conducted the tours were among some of the friendliest, most professional and accommodating young folks you'll ever meet. (Whitehorse draws people from all around the world, and the Arctic Range staff represents that diversity, which we really came to appreciate.) Very glad we did the clothing rental (we did the "Arctic Winter" package); we were able to wear a couple of light and mid-weight layers under their pants and parkas and stayed plenty warm. Wouldn't hesitate to re-book the same tour again.Written December 17, 2024
- Bohemian_me840 contributionsWas funIt was fun even tho we didn’t see the lights . But fire and good service made it better as of experience . I think to get photos in digital form for 20$ is little over priced , but I guess that’s business . Only problem was temperature of the bus they pick you up in , it was almost as cold as outside , make sure that after 3h outside you keep those people warm and cozy .Written November 29, 2024
- Karen J0 contributionsPerfect guided tour in a breathtaking location!Had a great time on our tour. Miles Canyon is breathtaking and not to be missed. Nice length ( a bit over 3 hours). Very personable and knowledgeable guides. One note - while advertised as easy and flat, there were some elavation changes and one scramble up some rocks. We're in our 60s and in decent shape and got through it ok, but by thr end I was regretting not taking the offered walking sticks, although I just grabbed a l9ose branch for maybe the last mile. Lots of opportunities for spectacular pictures!Written October 8, 2024
- ScottWade220 contributionsOut of This WorldFrom the first second, I knew Arctic Range was going to help me customize my journey, a bucket list trip to see and photograph the Northern Lights from their remote site about an hour from Whitehorse. While other companies were quick to ask exactly when I would be going, what package I chose and... "credit card please, number", the staff at Arctic Range started asking me more individual questions: What do you hope to see, how much time did I have, were their any physical limitations, what kind of travel do you REALLY enjoy." From my first contact until the last day when we said goodbye in their downtown office, I knew their goal was me having the time of my life. At the site one night, I was having trouble with focus and technical issues. A staff member who photographs bears in Canada took the time to explain to me things about my camera I didn't even know, and it's my CAMERA! I booked for 4 nights viewing, knowing cloudy skies stop all, and got two out of 4. It was worth it. When I booked a full day hike to Kluane NP, the guide customized the tour to only the Two of us, giving a maximum nature experience. Thanks to Eli, Jess, Akino, Reena, Horatio, Mariko, Chisato and Kei, all of who are bi-lingual.Written October 5, 2024
- lisabY8600EW0 contributionsNice to be able to enjoy the Northern Lights in companyReally pleasant company of the tour guides during this tour, quite knowledgeable and interesting to talk with. The lights showed up during the one night I booked, soooo lucky.Written September 24, 2024
- Fearless6554890 contributionsPoor experienceThe weather forecast in the morning was for rain that evening. They took us out there, gave us some powdered hot chocolate to mix ourselves and some store bought cookies. Both the driver and lady at the site had English as their second language. They did take us to the tent and started a fire..after approximately 2 hours they told us it was going to rain all night so we’re taking us back to Whitehorse..no money returned and no promise to view the lights the next night. This was a total cash grab and a waste of our time and moneyWritten September 21, 2024
- PookyCake0 contributionsThe Quintessential Yukon ExperienceWe were in town for a few days taking in the Yukon Rendezvous Festival. While checking out the pubs and dodging the Keystone Kops is always fun, no visit to Whitehorse is complete without an aurora viewing tour. Not wanting to miss out during our limited time, we booked two nights with Arctic Range Adventures. At $149 per person, the rate is more than reasonable and the team @ Arctic Range makes sure guests get their money’s worth! The overall experience is quite fun: You are picked up at the Sternwheeler Hotel at approximately 11:20PM (a piece of cake for us since we were staying there) and driven 45 minutes outside Whitehorse, via a comfortable shuttle bus, to the Aurora Centre (used exclusively by Arctic Range Adventures). The Centre is nicely laid out: There are two heated outhouses (so you don’t have to freeze!); a comfortable yurt with seating, stove, light snacks and drinks; two teepees where you can sit, dialogue with the group and roast marshmallows; and an expansive aurora viewing area complete with tripods bolted into place for your use and enjoyment. You spend about 3 hours at the site before being bussed back to your accommodation, arriving back to Whitehorse at around 4AM. On both nights our primary guide was Pascal. He was informative and gave everybody the “lay of the land” each time. On night one, we spent most of our time in the teepee because it was mostly cloudy skies. I thought we were going to strike out but, just as everyone was getting ready to board the shuttle back to Whitehorse, the aurora made a brief – and very faint – appearance! While the green hues were subtle, we were thankful to see them! On night two, we had far better luck. Upon arrival to the Aurora Centre just after 12AM, the aurora made an appearance and stuck around for nearly an hour! It was bright and a majestic sight as it wove through the night sky! One could almost hear the ghost of Robert Service reciting his poem, “Ballad of the Northern Lights:” They rolled around with a soundless sound Like softly bruised silk; They poured into the bowl of the sky With the gentle flow of milk. Indeed, if you want a quality aurora tour, I can’t recommend Arctic Range Adventures enough. The team is professional; the Aurora Centre is comfortable; the site for viewing the Northern Lights is large enough so as to avoid the feeling of being crowded; and, if you don’t have sufficient winter gear, they have some for rent! In short, Arctic Range offers the complete package at a reasonable cost! Highly recommended!Written April 24, 2024

Guides Liz and Sam were super awesome. Even though there was snow on the ground and roads, Sam was an excellent driver. We saw several animals in the preserve but sadly not the moose, he was hiding. Their commentary was most enlightening and enjoyable. Then the hot springs warmed us up. I would recommend this to anyone going to that area.

We were a family of five that just finished the Wildlife and Hot springs tour. While some people say you can save money by doing it yourself.I disagree,Agatha our guide was full of knowledge about the animals. We would have not spotted the elusive lynx and the arctic foxes if not for her trained eye.We were very happy with her friendly service and glad that We booked with this company. The Yukon wildlife reserve is best done with someone who can provide lots of useful information
She also had to do 2 languages at the same time,Since We were English speakers with a Mexican couple. So she did it in English and Spanish at the same time.Kudos to her

The driver and guide were both great but the tour itself was a little underwhelming. I think the description needs to better describe the tour itself. It was a pleasant afternoon but I wouldnt put this on a must do in Whitehorse

We are sorry to hear the Yukon Wildlife Preserve didn't meet your expectations even though you are able to see some of the most Arctic inhabitants up close.

We didn't get to do the tour with Arctic Range and had to cancel due to flight cancellations/rebooking but the staff was able to cancel and refund our reservation. I appreciated that as it was one less thing to stress about!

This tour includes a visit to the Hotsprings. Depends on the dates you want to visit, a child of 1 year old is not allowed to go into the pool for safety reasons
