Highlights
  • Explore Santo Domingo without getting lost with an art historian guide
  • Travel between Santo Domingo’s highlights with ease
  • A great choice for first-time visitors with limited time
  • Hassle-free round-trip transport from your hotel in Punta Cana
What to Expect
Your tour starts with pickup from your hotel in Punta Cana in an air-conditioned coach. Travel about two and a half hours to Santo Domingo, the oldest city in the New World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. On arrival in Santo Domingo, explore the underground caves used by the indigenous Taino Indians at Three Eyes National Park. Stop at the Columbus Lighthouse, and then travel to the Colonial Zone, a walled 16-square-block historic district with many firsts of the New World such as the first cathedral, university, and hospital. Visit the Columbus Palace, home of Christopher Columbus’ son Diego, and walk along Calle Las Damas, the oldest paved street in the New World. Stop for a traditional Dominican lunch and then visit the National Presidential Palace. That leaves just enough time to pop into a souvenir shop before heading back to Punta Cana to end your tour.

A really good place to visit. Important city to visit when in the Dominican Repbulic. The disappointment was that the guide has to speak in 3 languages. This was tedious. Having booked on for a English tour, I may not have minded if there was one other language. Listening

You'll be exhausted from about 12 hours worth of traveling, but it is very worth it. My husband and I did not know about the part of the excursion that visited the cenotes, or underground caves, so this was a pleasant surprise. The caves were very beautiful. The bus ride

Looking back on this day-trip, I see it simply as an easy way to get to/from Santo Domingo and some of the key attractions. I was looking for much more context and background to help me understand what I was seeing, and had to rely on Wikipedia to give me the full story. We
