      Excellent Family Rafting trip
We went on the family rafting excursion as a group of 5. Perfect for all ages. Our guide, Gabriel, was awesome - encouraging and fun. We all felt safe and well looked after. They made it very easy. We got to ride and surf the rapids in the raft, jump into and float down the rapids, jump off a canyon edge, swim in the shallow area where we had lunch. Lunch was wraps and lots of fruit, chips, water/punch. The water was incredibly warm - warmer than the air in August. They took photos - nearly 100 of just our group, family and individually, offered for a very reasonable price of $55. There was swimming, hot tubs, food, and drinks available at the site after the rafting. We went on our own which was easy to organize directly wish New World. (25 minutes from Montebello) Could also go as an excursion organized by Mont Tremblant but you don’t get to stay on site afterwards.

      Family rafting - nightmare
I am writing you to share my experience at New World yesterday during my family raft trip with Dominique. I had a terrible experience and feel that I need to share with you what happened to me in order to ensure that nobody else goes though what I went through. At the beginning of the rafting experience, Dominique (our guide), went through the commands with us like "forward rowing" and "backward rowing" and "stop" and "get down". He never communicated at any time what to do if you fall out of the raft. In fact, he told us that nobody falls out during the family rafting. We were the first of 6 boats and we hit the first part of the first rapid, where the photographer stood on a rock to take pictures and then we moved to the side to let the other boats pass us. Then we went back into that first rapid where the photographer stood on the rock and Dominique told us to get down and I reached for the rope, but the boat was tipping on my side and I fell out. I fell under the boat and miraculously didn't hit the giant rock. I was stuck between 2 different currents that were pulling me under the water. I thought I was going to drown. I couldn't keep my head out of the water because a force kept pulling me down. The photographer on the rock motioned to me to relax but I begged for help and was panicking as Dominique had not instructed us what to do if we fell in. I wound up going down the next set of rapids on my own with nobody trying to get closer to me, despite the fact that there are supposed to be 2 kayaks to help. Dominique tried to throw a rope, but he was way too far away from me. He was very calm in my boat and told my fellow passengers very casually, "I hope she is okay". He did not give any reassurance to my family and friends that New World staff were doing anything about helping me. I have to assume that the safety policy is to let me float on my own until I can get myself to a boat on my own because that is how I made it out of the water. When I finally reached another boat and was pulled up, the raft came to the beach for lunch. The photographer came over to me to ask if I was okay. Dominique and the other staff never even came to find me or see if I was okay. In fact, when I rejoined my raft after lunch, Dominique very casually said, "you okay?" in passing. There was a total lack of instruction on Dominique's part as to what to do if you fall in. I felt like I was totally left on my own. I was grateful that it wasn't one of my children who had to go through this experience. Frankly the lack of communication on the part of our guide and the total lack of empathy from the staff in our group was shocking, disappointing and unimpressive.

      Excellent family fun
What an excellent experience. From the get go, our bus driver/photographer was full of information and put me at ease. When we got to the top of the river, outr guide Gabriel met us and had us laughing in seconds. Having a special needs teen, Gabriel made it so that he, and all of the other children were able to fully enjoy the experience. I felt we were in very capable hands. My so was chatting everyone up the whole trip and the staff couldn’t have been nicer. The peice de resistance was seeing our pictures on the was home. Thanks again New World.

      Awesome team building event!
Our group of 20 booked a full day of rafting at New world rafting. We arrived in the morning, and were given instructions for the day. The good - it truly is an adventure, the rapids are fast, the instructors are knowledgeable and fun. They really know how to get the people going. We had two sessions, one in the morning and one after lunch. The second half was pretty wild. The views are beautiful and you can take in the peacefulness of nature and the environment. We finished the night off with our choice of steak or salmon dinner. Was a great fun filled day. The bad - lunch is pretty minimal, but maybe that's because they don't want people eating to much. However a little more selection and napkins would go a long way. Would highly recommend this place!

Unorganized - expensive - photos a disappointing gouge
We went on the family float. The trip itself was fun. However, there was tremendous amount of waiting around without explanation. None of the guides wanted to take leadership and inform us on what was going on and didn't seem to be too enthused to be there. Our guide was great on the boat itself, but off of the boats (which turned out to be the majority of the time), the guides stuck together and ignored us. They even fought over who would have to give the closing speech like it was an onerous chore to say "goodbye". At the end of the trip we found out why they vehemently discourage cameras and phones: their photo package costs $50!!! For a family to dish out an additional fifty after an already expensive day is outrageous. So we have no photos and the day will be quickly forgotten. We will not be back! A tip (if you still want to go): don't self drive coming from Tremblant; the shuttle goes straight to the put in and back and can save a lot of time.

      Amazing rafting adventure... Thanks Turtle
This was an amazing day. We took the two ride package, and had a blast. We were supper happy to have Turtle as our guide. He is an extremely experienced guide, and gave us lots of things to smile about. We enjoyed his "scary movie" scenario, the impromptu drum and harmonica circle, and his all of his experience going down rivers. I'd definitely recommend a Sunday tour. Less crowds than the Saturday groups (or so I'm being nice told. The photos that the photographers took were great memories too. Thanks again Turtle for a wonderful Sunday Funday Adventure

      Best 2 days ever!!
Went on a little getaway just my boyfriend and I. We staid on the resort in a little cabin. We arrived late on Tuesday Aug 8th. They had dinner waiting for us even though the kitchen had closed. On Wednesday we hit the rapids. Our guide Digo was wonderful and ensure we were having fun. We did 2 runs, though most of my 2nd run was spent in the water havung to be pulled into the boat! We both enjoyed ourselves. That night we hit the bar after a wonderful filling dinner, lunch was provided between runs. The bar was fun, there were not many people staying there, but the staff made our time there wonderful. Thank you to all the staff!!!

Adventurous day out with the family!
We absolutely loved our day out with Nouveau Monde! We are a family of 5 with 3 teenaged girls looking for fun. We were not disappointed. We were lucky enough to have a veteran guide named Derek who did everything in his power to make sure we had fun. We would go down one set of rapids and he'd take us back to either surf or do an 'up-ender' so it felt like we did each set of rapids at least 2-3 times! My celiac daughter was even able to have gluten-free meals for lunch and dinner. If you're looking for action on the rapids, ask for Derek.

Best day of our 2 week holiday !
We are a family of 4, children ages 16 & 12. We had never done rafting before so thought it would be a good idea to book the family rafting day. I had booked for a Thursday but as the time got nearer the weather forecast wasn't as great so I asked if we could change days which they happily did for us. We arrived early and were told we could use the facilities whilst we waited for the safety talk. After that we got our gear and headed off on their bus which takes about 40 mins. We were a little apprehensive but then we met our guide Derek and he soon made us feel at ease. He was great fun and very informative of the area and was happy to ask questions. The Rapids were great and for those that wanted to , you could jump in at a certain place and there was no pressure for those who preferred to stay on the boat, same with the rock jumping. The picnic lunch was really nice, wraps, salad , crisps , drinks and plenty of fruit. There were 8 rafts in total and everyone met on the beach. All of the guides and those that took the photos seemed really nice and a fun team. We even got the chance to see a bald eagle as we were on the raft, an added bonus to an already awesome day. We were happy to buy the photos at the end , great value. Once back we were allowed to use the pool , hot tubs , showers, volleyball court etc, and you can purchase food and drink. All in all we had a fab day and got to meet some great people .

      Awesome!!!!
We just finished doing the afternoon rafting at New World now. First time rafting and had the best experience ever! We are by no means swimmer, so naturally was very skeptic about going rafting. Alex was our guide and we told him we don't want the raft to topple over, but definitely want to have a great time. And he delivered! Along with all the guides and safety reps at New World, including Alex - explained all the to dos/donts very carefully. They were funny and made sure we all had a good time - keeping safety in mind ofcourse. They were very mindful of us to want to take things slow but still made sure we had a great time. 5 star to Alex and his team for delivering exactly what we expected- will go back for sure and will recommend to others as well. Only next time would be- it's a quite a bit of uphill hiking/walking to take the bus back once the rafting was done. I was going to pass out from the walk! It was adding salt to the wound, after the intense rafting. I wished there was some water available. What i wouldn't have done for some water at that time! My next time would be - to make water bottles available for the guests.

      Great Rafting for Families
We're driving for a family weekend from Toronto to Montreal area. Our first destination was this new world rafting after a personal experience as a Counselor in a summer camp couple of years ago. (around ~2012) I remembered the experience pretty clear and I was pretty convinced to take my family here in some day. The weather was pretty rainy during the ride from Toronto but as we came closer the weather changed and we called few hours to make sure they are operating even during a bit of rain... The answer was definitely "yes" and all my members at the car were pretty satisfied and pumped up to try the rafting not on a hot/sunny conditions. We came and joined a raft for around of 6-7 people. a guide were leading the raft so we'll be safe and aware what we should do during the ride. The staff were very helpful and informative for every question that came up and taught us few things before we're getting to the rapids. We totally enjoyed every rapid whether by pass it pretty sleek & fast or by re-enter the rapids only to "fly" on the raft! I wish the route could be a little longer or maybe with more intense rapids for the teens in the family. it's pretty safe and nothing scary or dangerous should be raise. In case of a drop from the boat, there is a single kayak that accompany the pack in case someone drop to pick him up and settle his breath! (see in pics) Very good and give you the right confidence! I'll definitely come back for the launch extended experience some day!

our Guide MP was fantastic! she took us through the course the first time at a gentle pace allowing us all to become comfortable with the levels of effort & excitement. Then after lunch she took us through a more adventurous run! the day was perfect - lunch was ok- Chicken Salad Wraps and fruit/veggies, Water and Tea. Supper was very nice - Steak and salmon both were well flavored and surprisingly tasty and good quality. The ONLY complaint we had was that at lunch they drinks (especially the water was not easily obtained. Although they had several totes of drinks, the cups provided were 5 OZ. and it was above 30 degrees.... Could have drank the whole River. Other than that small complaint It was a fantastic day and well worth the price!! great time for most ages and abilities. Highly recommend this as a first try at whitewater rafting.

My husband and I had initially had a reservation for Sportyaking but with river waters so high we were told it would not be safe and so we joined other on the traditional rafts. We did two runs. We rescued other rafters who fell in, surfed the dryer a very long time leaving only myself, one other patron & our guide in the raft. My hubby along with everyone else fell out. Our guide was excellent. My husband & I were the only ones who didn't speak French but our guide offered bilingual instructions the entire time. Everyone had a great time.

Our family of 5 went to the New World rafting today for a full day excursion. We opted for the package which included a morning run and afternoon run, along with a lunch a dinner.

Now..have to tell you...it was pricey, but the experience was well worth it.

As a result of recent heavy rains, the Rouge River was running like it was spring, but much warmer water. As our guide, Jimmy said, it was a pow day for rafting.

Jimmy was an excellent and confident guide as he covered off the safety points and lead us down the river. The canyon run was absolutely amazing with the water running high and fast; not normal for this time of year.

The dinner was excellent, and the lunch was satisfactory.

Two things to be aware of when considering this excursion.

First, the trip is not suitable for cameras or phones, but there were a few GoPro’s out there. There is a photographer snapping pics, but will cost $65 to get the images. The quality of the images is fantastic, and for us, worth it.

Second, with a sizeable group, as ours was, it takes a significant amount of time to go through the preparations and bus ride up the river. As such, we weren’t at water’s edge until 90 minutes or so from the reporting time (915am).

All in all, an excellent trip with a suburb guide and I will be recommending New World to my friends and colleagues.

Dangerous - for very strong swimmers ONLY
I went white water rafting with Nouveau Monde last spring with my 15 year old son. I am a strong swimmer and so is he. It was my second time white water rafting, his first.

We listened to the safety briefing, and we looked at each other with eyes wide open when the instructor explained what to do if you fall out of the boat and find yourself stuck UNDER the boat.

The instructions were to put your hands on the bottom of the boat, and move your hand 10 to 15 times in a row, which would get you out from under, regardless of where you are positioned.

It sounded awful, but I thought the odds of it happening were slim to none, especially as people were laughing.

Sure enough, we capsized, and after being pulled by the current, I expected to pop up. I did not: I was stuck under water, under the boat. I calmed myself and followed the instructions from the briefing.
Took 10 "steps" with my hands on the bottom of the boat. Suddenly, I shifted directions (still under water), and so did the boat. At this point, I started to realize I didn't have tons of time or air left, and started getting scared.

I did another 9 "steps" with my hands, and FINALLY popped up. I couldn't catch my breath at first, and finally was pulled into the boat by the guide.

I was truly scared, and more than anything, HORRIFIED that it could have been my son.

If I were not so comfortable in water, I could totally imagine panicking.

I think what happened to me was likely rare, but I wouldn't wish it upon anyone.
I am NOT afraid of water, I used to have lifesaver qualifications, and this was very frightening.

I've been meaning to write this review for a year, so that people considering the activity know what they might be getting themselves into.

Hi ,i'm really sorry to hear this, we try do give everyone the ride the are looking for. Being affraid when we fall in the river it's totally normal. But being a good or a bad swimmer doesn't change anything, the life jacket does 90 % of the job. We are rafting people for 38 years, in around 20 000 people a year, and nobody spend more then 10 to 15 second under water. I'm a rafting guide for over 22 years now and sometime spending time under water still affraid me. But in life sometime you need to push your limit a little bit, and our job it's to keep those limit safe, and under control. And it's exactly what we do since 1980. Thank you very much for your review, we will take you comment and talk about our safety breafing and the way we say stuff.

I had heard many rave reviews about rafting on Riviere Rouge, so I decided to give it a whirl with some friends yesterday.
Upon arrival, we waited 90 minutes after our scheduled "appointment" time (1pm) to actually get in the bus and head towards the launch point on the river. Our group of 9 was assigned Karine as our guide. Her 9 year old (80 pound) daughter came along with us as well (guess Karine didn't have a babysitter for that day). Once we finally got on the river, Karine incessantly yapped about the dangers lurking ahead, creating a sombre atmosphere on the boat. At the front of the boat, her daughter (cute little girl), began complaining that she was cold (while blocking the view of paying customers).
The rapids themselves were nothing special, as the water levels were average for late summer (not the fault of New World Rafting). However, before launching, more than one guide assured me that there would be at least some level 4 rapids...not.
Karine, instead of pumping up our group and making it into a fun excursion, she complained that we weren't paddling hard enough (we did have to lug an extra 80 pounds because she was allowed to bring her daughter along, instead of paying a babysitter). This wasn't the first excursion of the day where her daughter "tagged along" - I found this out by viewing the photos from the morning trip.
It seemed that all the other boats were having fun with their guides, while Karine seemed like a teacher annoyed with her group of students, yapping incessantly.
I'm sure that outings on the Red River are definitely more fun earlier in the season, when the water levels are higher. What was supposed to be a two-hour excursion took double that, and by the end I was cold and tired (of hearing Karine's yapping and her daughter's complaining). In order to lengthen the trip, we were commanded to paddle back into falls we had already passed, so we could be splashed by the rapids...yippee fun.
Once we got one the bus, another guide reminded us to tip our guides with a beer or a donation. Here's my tip:
If you want to work as a rafting guide, please don't use paying customer's time, energy and space as a kindergarten for your children.

We visited Rafting Nuveau Monde (New World Rafting) this summer to try a different rafting company. This place is definitely not recommended. The place is very dirty. There is one bathroom servicing the entire campground and that is quite a walk in the middle of the night. The pool was green. There was not enough food for the guests which resulted in a drive to Ontario several times per day to eat. The guides were inexperienced and the raft kept deflating. The
guide had to stop several times and pump up the raft between the few rapids. Most of the time is spent waiting in the boat. I am assuming because our guide lacked knowledge so one we made it through rapids, we sat for an hour at the side of the river. Save you money and don't waste your time. Go to the Ottawa river (bigger rapids, much more fun) and to a well run company. Oh, and the staff disappears after 8pm. There was a Rave in the woods that lasted unchecked until 4am with noise levels that actually got greater after 2am.

Wow this was an amazing fun trip, family of four with two boys 12 & 16 not always easy to entertain both. We all had a blast, our guide Sebastian was funny, knowledgeable and connected well with the whole group. We felt completely safe. A must do if you are in the area, great value for the cost!! Thanks Nouveau Monde for giving us a memorable day - we will visit you again.

We booked the family white water rafting trip through the Mont Tremblant Activity Center. From our 11am start to our 6pm return, everything was outstanding. We rafted through about six Class-3 rapids, had a nice lunch on the river with the opportunity to swim, jumped into the rapids, floated down the river, did some "raft surfing", and dove off a cliff. All the staff were very professional, trustworthy, efficient, high-energy, and lots of fun. Great with the young kids too!

They also had a great photographer, Karen. She kayaked on her own and took hundreds of fantastic action pictures, a bunch of family photos during lunch, as well as the beautiful scenery. At the end of the trip I was expecting the typical display board of overpriced photos. But to my surprise, Karen downloaded all the photos to a couple of iPads and created slideshows by family and raft. I assumed she was going to offer a print of each shot for $15 or so. But, to my surprise, she offerred ALL the photos on DVD for only $45. I really appreciated this as it provided the ultimate souvenir at a reasonable price.

If you're interested in rafting, I highly recommend New World!

Our group of 17 had a great day on the river. We were split into two boats, one looking for more adventure than the other. Our guides, Michelle and Terry were terrific at both keeping us safe and entertained. After the morning run, we were given sandwiches and drinks and 4 of our party decided to call it a day...no problem! They were given a ride back to camp and the rest of us carried on for the rest of the river. The afternoon was definitely more challenging and it was decided they'd made the right call. Dinner and drinks at the end of the day were both great. Both the photo and movies offered for sale at the end of the trip were well worth the cost. Terry's play by play of the movie at the end was the highlight of a very exciting day.

I am providing separate reviews for the rafting experience and for the camping at New World Rafting Centre.

The rafting was great. 5 stars for that event. We did the family rafting in a calmer section of the river. Our guide Jade was very good and we had a lot of fun. The lunch was on a beach and comprised of several types of wrap sandwiches with vegetables and chips. My only recommendation would be for New World to spray some bleach on the inside of the helmets from time to time. The pictures cost $50 for about 200 good quality photos on a USB stick. We were a group of 8 so it came out to $25 for our two families. Not bad.

The camping was terrible. 0 stars for that. There was music that lasted until about 5am. No staff around to keep things under control. This might be good for the young crowd but there were several families with young children. It was impossible to sleep. The facilities are also in need of some desperate renovations. A lot of rotten wood planks on the walkways and decks. Toilets are dirty. Dinner and breakfast were ok.

All in all, a great place for the rafting but don't expect a quiet night for camping. Read the other reviews as this appears to be a common complaint.

I'm glad to see to you loved the rafting part, we work hard with the staff to provide a great rafting trip. As for the camping, we both the buisniss 4 years ago and we work hard every fall to improve the place, that was really down when we took it. I appreciate the comment and we will work on a quite camping area for next year to separate the noise of the camping from the family camping. As for the installation some more renovation will be made this fall to improve a bit more again. Thank you for taking the time to gice us some feed back ! Gilles Talbot Owner
