I have to say, due to train problems, I was a little late. Tea called me and I was able to catch up with my tour. Another alumni tour guide actually walked me to join the tour. - paul-ortleybeach0 contributionsOutstanding well informed polite guide. Our guide from Corpus Christie College was wonderfully informed. The history of these colleges is nothing short of incredible. If you didn't have a guide like Craig you would never know that the church tower dates back 1000 years. We were lucky it was just the 2 of us. A private tour! Highly recommended!Written October 1, 2024

The tour guide was a lovely young graduate student but her talk felt rehearsed and filled with silly myths about Cambridge’s history. The content felt light and was almost entirely repeated by the punt operator, so doing both is wholly unnecessary. I’d recommend only punting since you get better views of the colleges. Plus, $521 for a 60-min tour (30 min less than advertised) and 40-min punt is ridiculous (we were only 2 people)… that’s the main reason for my 2-star rating.

The day started with a fantastic walking tour of Cambridge. On arrival at the meeting point - they were well organised and it promptly began with Chris our guide. His knowledge of Cambridge history, previous scholars and dates was impeccable and he captured the attention of all in our group. This was followed by our punting session with a very entertaining young man who gave us the more up to date info on what went on in the colleges. Many thanks to you all for making our tour a very pleasurable experience.

Gabriel was an incredible tour guide who was extremely engaging and knowledgable. Myself and my husband had learned so much and were very grateful of the stories and history. Even though Gabriel was an Oxford student, being born in Cambridge meant he had very good knowledge of the city and of the university. The punting was also great and we were told different facts and stories.

Our walking tour guide Ashley was excellent, she gave us lots of interesting insights into the history of the colleges we wouldn't otherwise have known. The live experience is far more rewarding than reading in a guide book. Afterwards we went on to Granta punting tours and the young man, who was studying medicine at Trinity Hall was a mine of information showing us the incredible beauty of the backs where you see so much more of the colleges from the water.

Our guide Zoe was knowledgeable and shared a wealth of interesting historical facts and figures about Cambridge and experiences as a student. We were a very small group ( 3 persons) and chose to skip the punting. Zoe adapted the tour perfectly to our choices and interests.

This tour was well done and well worth the money! We did the walking tour with Stephen, a current student at Trinity College who had grown up in Cambridge. He was full of good information and answered all of our questions knowledgeably. The punting tour was fun as well, and a great way to see the back sides of the colleges that you can't view from the street.

I came to Cambridge with my parents and the three of us booked a private tour through the alumni tours. We had our tour led by Francesco and it was absolutely great! Francesco was so knowledgeable about the history of the university and was incredible nice and personable as well. Could not recommend higher!!

We were met at the agreed upon time by Choi, a friendly law student at Cambridge from Malaysia - even though he had been doing this only for a month, Choi was engaging, warm and very receptive to the needs of our small family including judging when to speed things up and when to give us a little time
The tour itself cannot go in to college classrooms or any facilities and largely skirts the outside perimeter of most places but if explained in an engaging way as Choi did, it still is a great way to immerse in this historical lovely Uni town
Highly recommended tour

How long does it take to get from London to Cambridge by train?
Is the tour starting point in walking distance from the train station? If not, are taxis available to get us from the train station to where the tour starts? Will taxis be available to return us to the train station for our trip back to London?
Can this tour be conducted for a group of 2?
Does the tour guide do the boat punting, or does the tourist have to "drive" their own boat?
Can the tour guide recommend a place to get tea and scones before we return to London?
