An EXCELLENT tour, starting at the Beaney Museum and going to many points of interest in Canterbury. Sam is an excellent tour guide, very very knowledgeable in all historical aspects of Cantebury. The tour was planned in a lovey way which flowed seamlessly through the town. Sam was very approachable and we felt we could ask questions at any point throughout the tour. We learned a lot during the tour and the time flew by. Sam was excellent at interjecting humour into the tour and we learned where a few "sayings" originated from in the many stories that he told us. It was a pleasure to go on this tour and the best value we could have put our money towards. Thank you so much Sam!!

My family loved our walking tour with Sam, he was a wonderful guide, full of interesting facts and stories about Canterbury and the people that lived there.
He answered all of our questions effortlessly (of which there were many) and even had our teenage children excited about the life of Thomas Becket which is no mean feat.
His extensive knowledge and obvious passion for the city shone through making the tour a hugely enjoyable experience.

Thank you so much Sam for the fabulous tour of Canterbury last Saturday.
Your knowledge and love of Canterbury and it’s history were evident and your enthusiasm was infectious. You expertly managed a large group on a very cold day and entertained us with amazing facts and amusing stories... and left us wanting more! Thank you from the lady shivering in the grey duffle coat!

The Canterbury Classic Tour. Is a must for visitors to Canterbury wether you’re interested in history or not. Sam is a great story teller and really knows his stuff. The great thing about tours like this are that we had walked around the city the previous day and hardly noticed numerous points of interest that Sam was able to tell us fascinating facts about. Length of the tour ( an hour and a half) was just right for us, as was the pace.

The tour that Sam Hurn gave was such an eye-opener. Our visit to Canterbury became so much more interesting because we got to know the true details of every account in surprising “corners”. It is very obvious that Sam adores what he does because it shows how he effortlessly told each piece of history, not to mention very kind for allowing me to jump in last minute! Definitely made the Canterbury experience more colorful.

We had an amazing experience exploring city of Canterbury with our tour guide Sam. He is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about history and this city. It’s great to do this tour early insure morning before tourist crowds fill the streets. It felt like we had it all to ourselves!
We’ve seen lots of interesting places, buildings and have heard many stories related to this place. Some places we would never come across unless it would have been with this tour. We know so much more now and can’t wait to come back and explore in the future!

Jane was our guide on a very rainy morning. She knew Canterbury well , adapted her patter as we had already had a guided tour of the Cathedral itself . Jane made people feel at ease and managed to engage with each member of our group. The pace was sensible and we learned a lot about the history of Canterbury. I would recommend this walk.

We contacted Sam overnight and he was very accommodating and arranged a tour the same day. It was my 9 year old (who has Asd and loves history) and myself. Sam’s knowledge, enthusiasm and patience was incredible. He spoke with a freshness that would never let you believe he’d done it hundreds of times before. Highly recommend!!

Jane was our very knowledgeable guide. She certainly knows her stuff and delivered it in a very interesting way. She told us loads about how the town grew and how it has changed with the various wars over the centuries. I could almost smell the town in medieval times (not pleasant to say the least!)
Although only Cathedral guides can take you inside, she explained the architecture and took us around the cloisters.
I would just like to add that the review asks about social distancing etc due to covid. This was no long required in May 22 when we visited.
