Whisky-Tasting Day Trip from Edinburgh
US$49.52
Overview
Scotland’s whisky distilleries are widely considered the best in the world, with a history dating back centuries. On this full-day tour, spin through the Scottish Lowlands by air-conditioned mini-coach with your guide, and sample Scotch whisky at the Glengoyne Distillery and Deanston Distillery. You’ll have time to explore the shores of Loch Lomond in the Trossachs National Park, with round-trip travel from Edinburgh included.
What to Expect
Meet your guide in central Edinburgh in the morning, and take a seat in your air-conditioned mini-coach. Then, spin out of the city into the Scottish Lowlands to begin your full-day tour. Along the way, soak up sweeping views over the Scottish countryside as your guide sheds light on the country’s whisky-making history.

First, stop at the Glengoyne Distillery in Dumgoyne and take a guided tour. Here, see how Scottish whisky is made the traditional way, sample some of the whiskies in production, and learn what makes the Glengoyne Distillery’s whiskies so special.

Continue on through the beautiful Trossachs National Park to Loch Lomond—one of the region’s top natural attractions. You’ll have plenty of time here to admire the dramatic lake and mountain scenery, and stop for lunch (own expense).

Next, visit the Deanston Distillery—nestled on the banks of the Teith River and widely considered Scotland’s most environmentally friendly distillery. During your tour, see how whisky is made the Deanston way and taste two types of single malt Scotch.

When your time at the Deanston Distillery comes to an end, return in comfort to central Edinburgh to conclude your tour.

The one we joined was not private. It was, however, with 8 other people so felt like a ‘private’ one. If you visit the tour operator’s website there is a section about private tours. Best to get in touch with them as they... More
