      Excellent
Our guide Peter was brilliant! He has a great interest and appreciation of Scottish history. He seemed to genuinely care that his passengers had a good experience. The Loch Ness boat trip is a must to add on.

Stunning Highlands with a Great Guide
Colin, our tour guide, made this trip worth the time and money. He was very personable and his knowledge, stories, jokes, and engagement, made the whole trip worthwhile. Second to Colin, were the Highlands. Absolutely breathtaking! I wish we had more time to walk some of the trails. The stop at Pitlochry was not valuable, besides being an ice cream stop. Loch Ness was also underwhelming, and unless you paid extra for the Loch Ness cruise your (an additional 18.5 pounds on top of the tour cost), there really wasn't a whole lot of "Nessy" stuff to do. The tour bus itself was clean, but the seats are really tight together, with not a lot of leg room. Overall a decent tour, but with the right tour guide, worth your precious time.

      Memorable day
We had the most delightful trip with our tour guide, David. Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining but he kept the whole group ahead of schedule so that we beat the crowd at every stop. He provided a great deal of history all while safely navigating us through the highlands. I would highly recommend this tour. Although it was a long day, it was very fast-paced, comfortable and memorable.

Beautiful (but Long) Trip Throughout the Scottish Highlands
I was skeptical about committing to this trip, given it was 12 hours in length, as I typically prefer to rent a car and explore the country myself. However, my aunt and I thought it would be fun to let someone else do the driving, learn more about Scotland, and be part of a group. The first half of the trip was fantastic. Our tour guide was a great driver, told interesting (and funny) stories, and kept us entertained while we viewed gorgeous scenery. If you enjoy bus and guided tours, I would recommend it. The highlight of the trip is (supposed to be) Loch Ness. The boat trip is optional, and our guide made it very clear that his intention was not to push it; he did, however, mention multiple times there is nothing else to do at that location, and guests would be unable to get on the bus while others were on the boat, thus making it sound like we would be sitting around for an hour unless we booked the boat trip. I take full blame for deciding to take the boat tour, as I have been to Fort Augustus before, and there is plenty to see and do (e.g., quite a lot of restaurants and shops). However, when our guide shared it is a very small town with nothing to see or do--and guests are required to decide whether or not to book the cruise by the end of the first stop because you must get cash at an ATM at the first restaurant/store stop if you don't have it--it seemed to be a clear choice to go on the cruise (and I didn't make the connection that the boat was the Fort Augustus stop). The cruise was quite disappointing and unexceptional (and I know this is unrelated to The Hairy Coo company, so it is not their fault). On the return trip, there were very few stories and interesting facts shared about the areas through which we were driving. Our tour group was rather quiet and not super engaged, so that could have been a factor. Our guide did play karaoke toward the very end and encouraged people to sing along to fun songs, which was a great idea, and we enjoyed that aspect of the ride. Most people did not participate, likely because it was an extremely long day, and I think the group was tired. The pros of the trip include traveling in a nice, new bus that includes USB ports for charging phones, great tour guides who share fun and historical information and are extremely safe drivers, and stops at interesting locations. I would recommend The Hairy Coo; however, 12 hours makes for an extremely long day. The Scottish Highlands are a must-see; reflecting back, I should have rented a car and made the trip myself. However, that's a personal preference, and I want to echo the other reviews that indicate this company, the guides, and the trip are worth it if you prefer to travel on a group tour.

      Long day with pretty views
I know that I’m in the minority about my not being overwhelmed by this tour. First, the positive. The communications were great and the meeting point very easy to find. Our driver and guide, Lucky, was very entertaining, a great and safe driver, and full of information. It was just the perfect blend of information and music for what is a very long 12+ hour day. You really spend most of the day riding on a bus (the bus is a clean, new, luxury bus). There are short stops along the way for photo opportunities but considering that I have been to over 30 countries around the world, I didn’t find the west highlands as scenic as some have described. Loch Ness itself, is small with just a few shops and the ferry tour of one hour was pretty boring. On the way home, we did get to stop and see and feed some hairy cows. The tour company did a great job as did Lucky but it is a lot of driving and a very long day.

      Amazing tour, book now!
I 100% recommend taking this tour if you are wanting to explore the Scottish highlands while in Edinburgh! We were here for the weekend and wanted to see the highlands but didn’t have a car so we decided to look into tours. I am so glad we took this one because Fraser was an amazing guide! He played Scottish music, told interesting stories and myths, and took us to some amazing sites! If I come back to Edinburgh I definitely plan to take the multi-day Isle of Skye tour.

      Amazing tour- thoroughly enjoyed it
We had a great tour with David. He was very knowledgable about the area and really made us feel very comfortable as he told us the history as well as personal stories that he has had around the area where we traveled. The cruise on the Loch unfortunately was not on due to engine issues and whilst disappointing, it was not the tours fault in any way. We had a great 12 hours- it was a very long and tiring day but probably more so for David who done a lot of driving! There was so many highlights that I could point out but one of my favourites was feeding and petting the hairy coos! I would not hesitate to book another tour with this company and if David is the driver, it would be a bonus!

      10/10 - Thanks John
John did an amazing job leading our tour today. If the trip wasn’t already beautiful enough filled with such great stops, his wonderful humor and kindness sure would’ve made up for it. 10/10 day trip for anyone visiting Edinburgh who wants to see what the rest of the country has to offer.

Wonderful experience of the Scottish Highlands and Loch Ness
It was a wonderful experience! The scenery was spectacular and the stops were well-planned and added to the experience. The driver was so knowledgeable and entertained us with information about Scottish history and the Scottish landscape. The Loch Ness boat tour was also very informative and fascinating. I learned so much! I would recommend this trip to anyone interested in seeing Scotland away from the cities.

Great bus tour to the Scottish Highlands. Bus was nice and comfortable. The tour guide Rod was able to give historical explanations of each area that made the time there more enjoyable. I would recommend this to any friend. This tour made our stay in Edinburgh a great one.

This was one of the best tours I went on and it will be one of those experiences you treasure for life!
Me and my friends decided to do a trip through highlands and since we were a group of 6 renting a car was too much of a hassle. And oh boy how happy we were that we chose to go on the hairy coo trip!
We had an amazing tour led by Brian with the 6 of us and one other person. The best thing was that we all just clicked, and it did not feel as a tour but rather a trip with friends! Everyone was cracking jokes all the time, talking, and just having fun! Since we were a smaller group (first tour after the lockdown, so I guess people were still scared? I reassure you there is nothing to be scared about!) we were flexible and that led to some awesome experiences. We wanted to go swimming in loch Ness and not only we managed to do that, but Brian also joined us! We of course visited the most famous hairy coo Hamish and fed him the traditional way ;), we went to see Hogwarts express, saw dolphins at Kilt rock in the Isle of Skye (which was the first for us as well as Brian!) and went on an amazing hike to enjoy the views of beautiful highland scenery. Throughout all three days Brian was full of facts and stories about highland history, which were always accompanied by awesome jokes and the most iconic music, from Outlander to Star Wars (you will understand when you go on the trip :D). Though you spend a bit of time on the bus (Highlands are big) there is no dull moment because there is plenty to see on the way, also the stories Brian tells always relate to the landmarks we see. If Brian needed a rest from talking (it was amazing he didn’t lose his voice within the tree days, that man is a legend) or just needed to focus on the drive we played our music and did karaoke, and of course we had to mess with Brian a bit so we played some annoying songs, all in good fun!
So all in all the trip was brilliant! A couple days have passed, but we are still gushing how great it was and I have no doubt we will be remembering this amazing time for a very long time! Can’t recommend this tour enough and thanks to Brian for making it so fun and without a care in the world!

Have booked a 3 day Isle of Skye tour with them last Sept 2020 and it was amazing! Highly recommended! Brian made our anniversary trip then very memorable and we had great company! They all put up a happy anniversary card for us and it was very sweet. Best thing was we even made tiktok video and we all had a good time. Because we loved our experience, we booked another tour with them this year but this time its just a one day since we originally wanted the 5 day tour. Too bad they won’t run the 5 days until 2022 but the one day tour was amazing! We have visited these places before with the 3 day tour but the experience was much better the second time around, we even had Brian as our tour guide again! How great is that! I recommend the hairycoo for such a pleasurable experience without ripping out our pockets, I also love the fact that they give discounts to NHS workers. 😊

    Rose the Perfect Guide!

Although there is nothing perfect in this mortal world, Rose is an exception. She is a textbook example of how a guide should be; she was kind, considerate, and upbeat. I am astonished by her storytelling skills; she made it so enjoyable that I am sure nobody on the bus dozed off even for a minute.

The tour was one of the few experiences I would remember for a long, long time; it was a perfect blend of sightseeing, history, cultural stories, and fun! If you are visiting Scotland for the first time, I would highly recommend doing this three-day tour to experience the highlands and Isle of Sky.

Amazing. Marty was the absolute best guide. We had a small group so he took us to a lot of extra spots that weren’t on the itinerary. Very knowledgeable and had great food recommendations. He really read our group and was great with telling stories and giving information about the landscapes we passed through. We had all the luck with blue skies and clear views. So happy my friends and I took this tour!

This tour not only lets you see the highlights of Scotland but provides a one-of-a-kind experience. The scenery was breathtaking, the bus was comfortable, and we had the chance to listen to a perfect balance of great music and stories about Scottish history and myths without a single dull moment. Despite the tight schedule, we always had time to explore a bit on our own, and to taste great meals and drinks.

Still, the heart and soul of the tour was our gorgeous tour guide, Brian. He is a perfectly skilled driver and storyteller with a fantastic taste in music, contagious enthusiasm, and an extremely attentive, energetic and warm personality.

Even if you only spend a few days in Scotland, I would definitely recommend booking a tour at The Hairy Coo to experience the quintessence of Scotland!

After checking the itinerary and the synopsis of the 3 day tour, we told ourselves this is as good as it can get for a road trip and so we signed up. Having Stephen as our tour guide really made the tour so so much better. If the itinerary is the hard ware, then Stephen is the perfect software to get the hardware working in tip top condition. Blending in his playlist with detail explanation of the Scots history and the throwing in his 2 cents worth of opinions (LOL), the 3 day tour became very lively and memorable. Bravo to Stephen and his effort!

Our guide Marty is fabulous! He’s so knowledgeable and experienced about the highlands tour and lots of jokes and local tips and also spent time on engaging and caring everyone.

I took the three-day trip including Isle of Skye which was good quality and efficiently visited most astonishing part of the highlands! I was thrilled from the first day journey/plan but wish to stay at Glencoe longer to be able to walk around the lovely valley. However, it’d probably be better to skip/make shorter stay by Kelpie to make more time for the rest parts. By Glenfinnan viaduct, the angles we stayed weren’t as astonishing as from the other side where you could see the “curve” of the railway. The second day was my favorite! The third day was less exciting and I think we spent too much time by the Folk museum and Culloden I think. It’d be nicer to stop by somewhere with lovely little town vibes or fantastic field/lake view instead.

Overall, I still highly recommended Hairy Coo and would love to travel with them for a longer trip in the future!

First, the Scottish Highlands and the Isle of Skye are among the most rugged and beautiful scenery that we have experienced. Second, our tour guide Brian took it to a even higher level over these 3 days.

Brian was enthusiastic and so knowledgeable about the area. He was caring and entertaining making sure everyone was engaged. Brian blended stories and music to give everyone a real identification with Scotland. His native Scottish brogue and wearing his kilt made it really special.

Everything ran very smoothly and we got to see so much! You do have to arrange your own accommodations in Inverness, but Hairy Coo offers many suggestions. We stayed at Adrian’s Guest House which was superb.

You are on your own for dinner in Inverness so I would highly recommend reservations as the restaurants stop serving food early and cannot accommodate a lot of people. I am sure this was because of staffing issues.

We were so pleased with the quality of this tour and would highly recommend a Hairy Coo Tour to anyone, and walk 500 miles with Brian!

Going to the Isle of Skye has been a bucket-list for me. My girlfriend and I spent some time reviewing tour options and The Hairy Coo was our choice.

Our first day of our 3-day tour of the Highlands was rainy and windy so we told our tour guide John that we wanted better weather. Day 2 on the Isle of Skye had patchy rain but mostly sun, and by Day 3 it was just beautiful. I can’t say whether John changed the weather to our request, but it sure seemed so. Just like the rest of our tour, it seemed like he catered to our every wish. He took us to a meat pie shop in Callander and fish n chips shop in Portree that were literally the best of each I’ve had EVER.

He catered to every person on our hodgepodge group of introverts to the point that on Day 1 we barely said a word to each other; to Day 3 and we are all having lunch together and even some of us meeting for drinks after the tour was over. He joked that we’d all miss each other after the tour was over and in all honesty, we do.

A member of my group said the best description of John as our guide and as of Hairy Coo in general: “they (John) aren’t tour guides…they are Scottish people who want to show us their home”.

We saw the most beautiful landscape in the World, had great laughs (rainbows and the impervious to the cold people from Hawaii (me)) and met wonderful people. Thank you John and the Hairy Coo. We are already looking forward to the 5-day tour in the future.

Anthony gave us an unforgettable tour of the highlands. From the moment we got on the bus his enthusiastic story telling and sense of humor kept us all highly entertained. Throughout the trip he would point out some of the fascinating, lesser known landmarks and their significance that we wouldn't have known about had we gone the car rental route. Pacing of itinerary was perfection, giving us just the right amount of time in each location. Many, many stunning photos were taken. The beauty of the highlands is truly unlike any other.
