This is the second time we have taken this particular tour, once in 2019 and again in 2022 and the 4th tour with Irish Rail. All I can say is that these tours are very well run, the guides are excellent and adaptable to the groups needs and everything runs like clockwork. So much more enjoyable and much more comfortable than a similar bus tour. First class all the way!

Great tour! Kilkenny is a beautiful “tidy town.” Beautiful flowers, clean streets, lots of shops, and good food. Could spend a few days there exploring. The tour of Waterford was great! Very informative with plenty of time to watch the entire process from molten glass to finished product. Also a good amount of time to spend admiring all the pieces in the showroom and shopping. Paddy was an excellent guide! He spent time with everyone in the group, was very informative, and funny! Great tour!

First time to travel solo since no one was free on my vacation time, so figured… What am I waiting for! This tour was truly spectacular! Our guide, Paddy Mc. was so wonderful… he honestly took care of everyone on the tour making sure everyone was comfortable and answered all questions. Just a great, kind man! We had a lovely visit in Kilkenny. We could visit the castle snd explore or spend more time across the street at the Design and Art building . Also a very nice coffee shop for those who wanted to sit awhile. The train ride was beautiful and relaxing just watching the green countryside pass by. We stopped for lunch before going to to Waterford. So interesting… loved every minute of this tour and never felt like I was traveling solo. I met some wonderful new friends, families and couples! This tour is for everyone.

When planning a trip to Ireland with my grandma, who has limited mobility, we were happy to see that the tour was wheelchair accessible other than transfers to and from a bus (which ended up being nonexistent). Unfortunately, this is not what we experienced and we ended up having to separate from the group and do the Waterford factor tour on our own (with the tour company refusing to give us a refund). We were not allowed to sit in the wheelchair section of the train car and the guide seemed surprised when the wheelchair did not fit down the very narrow aisles. When the guide started to go over the plan for the day, he said that he'd need to order a taxi for us (at our expense) in Kilkenny because he was concerned about us being able to walk to and from the train station. Things were much better when we separated from the group and moved to the accessible car on the train and the railroad employees themselves were fantastic. If you have accessibility concerns, do not trust the company's description and get in touch with them first to ensure your needs will be met!

My granddaughter, 18 years old, and I took this tour back in June. Our tour guide was Ian and he did a great job. I booked this tour before I wrenched my knee running through the airport in Paris. I probably should’ve backed out, but really wanted my granddaughter to see the area as our family immigrated from around Waterford to the United States. Even with a bad knee and using a cane I did manage the tour. If walking is hard for you this may be a little too difficult, everybody else seems to do fine with the walking amounts. The castle was amazing and the area interesting. Walking around Waterford and hearing the history of the town and connections to the Vikings was very interesting. The crystal factory and the tour is always a hit. The train ride was scenic and comfortable. I very much recommend this tout

This tour was our favorite of all we went on while in Dublin. Our tour guide, Paddy, made it the best experience. He was witty and kind and gave us great information along the way. Paddy stayed with the group the whole time and told us stories along the way. Having him with us made the tour that much more special.

I took the tour with my two daughters (ages 8 and 12). Our guide was easy to find at Heuston station. Once we got on the train he took time to go over the map and itinerary as well as going over some history of where we were going. The train ride was relaxing and we loved the views of the countryside. Once we got to Kilkenny our guide Liam walked with us to St. John's cathedral and spent plenty of time answering questions and giving a tour of the cathedral. We walked to the castle and learned more on the way there about the different buildings on the way. We spent about an hour at the castle and it was fantastic! Then about an hour on the train to Waterford. We went to a great spot for lunch with our guide Liam across from the Waterford factory then took the tour. I highly recommend the Waterford tour, it was fascinating. We had a little extra time to explore the town on our own and then we went back to the train to return to Dublin. Liam made the whole day effortless on our part, he kept us on time so we didn't have to think about much other than enjoying our tour and there was absolutely no stress in planning a thing. He even walked us to a cab at the end of the tour to make sure we had no trouble getting back to our hotel from the train station.

We took the one day train tour from Dublin to Waterford Crystal and had so much fun. The tour guide David was a pleasure to talk to and had very good knowledge of everything on the tour.

The company guides were easy to find at the Heuston Train Station and made getting on the train a breeze. The station staff were very friendly and helpful. The train left at 07:25 and was clean and comfortable. Food and drinks are available at a reasonable price - nice to sip a coffee and enjoy the Irish countryside.

The train stops at Kilkenny and we had several hours to explore the city with our guide. His lunch choice (Munster Restaurant) was delicious.

The Waterford Crystal Factory was very interesting and enjoyable, and we purchased several lovely items in the store. We had them shipped back home, and they arrived safe and sound - worth paying the extra for shipping.

The train arrived back in Dublin at 20:00; a full day but very enjoyable. We would recommend this tour to anyone looking for an easy and fun day.

Our guide, Peter, turned out to be very knowledgeable not only about Irish history and culture, but also about the country’s rail system---an added bonus for this train buff. Besides the other stops on the tour, we dropped into the Kilkenny Design Centre shop (right across from Kilkenny Castle). It features Irish arts and crafts far different from what’s available in a traditional souvenir shop and is well worth a look, even if a tad expensive. Overall, a worthwhile excursion. A little more time in Kilkenny would have been nice though.
