Highlights
  • Travel between Kilkenny, Glendalough, and Wicklow Mountains with ease
  • Guide commentary contextualizes each stop
  • Choose between free time and guided tours
  • Hotel pickup and drop-off in Dublin saves time with a door-to-door service
What to expect
  • Begin your tour with convenient pickup at your Dublin hotel, where you’ll climb aboard a comfortable tour vehicle and set out into the Irish countryside. Enjoy the scenery and leave the driving to your guide on the way to Kilkenny Castle. Listen to your guide’s commentary on the history of the castle, built in the 12th century on the River Nore. Spend some free time exploring the chambers and the rose garden at your own pace, before heading out into the village of Kilkenny. Stroll the cobblestone streets, taking in sights of the monasteries, cathedrals, and Tudor-style houses. Meet up with your guide for a last stop at the 12th-century St. Francis Abbey Brewery before departing. Back on the bus, head over the picturesque Wicklow Gap into Wicklow Mountains National Park. Keep your camera at the ready and take advantage of the fact that someone else is driving, using that time to snap photos of the dreamy scenery instead. Stop at a local sheep farm to see border collies doing what they do best: herding sheep, a long-standing Irish tradition. Once you reach the glacial valley of Glendalough, take in sights of the glacial lakes and stop at the medieval monastery and tower. After an orientation from your guide, spend a while exploring independently before boarding the bus and returning to Dublin for drop-off.

I took this trip recently and absolutely loved it! We were with Cathy and Sarah and they were lovely! Very helpful and friendly and had all the insights about the attractions. They took time out to answer our questions individually and seemed very passionate about their work. And Cathy’s soothing voice helped fall in and out of sleep during Sarah’s comfortable driving. 😊😊

Great trip with a long stop at Glendalough in the morning, letting us near the lake or anywhere we'd like to. And a stop at Kilkenny in the afternoon so we can visit the castle & the city.

LOVE IT! Our tour Kathy (or Cathy) is has extreme amount of knowledge about places that we were visiting. She shared with us many interesting stories and showed us secret tourist attractions! Joe - our driver... he drove the bus wit such an ease as it was a bicycle or golf cart! The even upgraded my whole family to front seat (we were with a 10 year old kid).
I would recommend it to anyone!

Amazing day trip with Cathy and Joe the driver. Took a winter trip so the sheep farm and Glendalough were the first stops. The coach was clearly marked and arrived promptly at the pick up spot in the morning, they were really thorough in making sure we had everyone before we set off.
Cathy was very good during the coach journeys and used the microphone to point out landmarks and provide information.
The sheep farm was excellent, we were shown a demonstration by the farmer and then taken to a barn to learn about wool shearing and hold some lambs.
Glendalough is a beautiful spot and there were plenty of places to get food and drinks. Cathy provided information of the area to those who wanted it and gave easy to follow directions to the lakes.
Kilkenny was also a great experience and we were given the choice to follow Cathy for around 20 minutes where she had some great info to share about the city and then she recommended some places to eat as well.
We also stopped briefly in the Wicklow mountains at a photo spot and Cathy gave us a lot of interesting facts about the history of the area and also what movies had been filmed there.
It was a great day out with enough time to enjoy the locations and well worth the money. Would definitely go on a trip with Cathy and Joe again!

We really enjoyed this tour of Glendalough, Wicklow Mountains, Kilkenny, and the sheep dog demonstration. Our tour guide, Kathy, and driver, Paolo, we’re both fantastic guide and hosts. They were full of information, professional, and I felt very safe and comfortable on the bus. The unexpected bonus was being able to hold baby lambs in January! The trip was great and an incredible value for a full day guided tour.

Great value for off-season travel for locals and tourists alike. Entertaining commentary from guide Murphy and skilled driving from Sarah. The ride through the Wicklow Mountains was as entertaining as the stops. Fun times visiting the the sheep farm, Glendalough, and Kilkenny. Murphy was willing to answer all questions regarding Ireland- even on the stops not covered with this tour. I highly recommend using Wild Rover for day trips around Eire!

Had an awesome experience today on a day tour with the guide Cathy and Paolo, the driver.
I felt very welcomed by both of them from the beginning of the tour. Cathy is very knowledgeable with a strong but calm voice speaking very clearly and in a relaxed manner. Herself and Paolo were both very helpful by assisting us as much as they could and were very happy to answer all our questions. Pleasant atmosphere on the bus, great entertainment and plenty of time and freedom to explore sites at our own pace.
