- M923JVdavidh0 contributionsA wonderful afternoon in the Alsace wine region!A wonderful afternoon in the Alsace wine region! Jerome was an outstanding host with a friendly approach to the group and an amazing knowledge of the wine, the region and Strasbourg. For those English speaking tourists, his English is excellent! The 2 wineries we visited were very good with friendly hosts and fantastic wine. The tastings were a great cross section of wines produced in the region and are well priced if you decide to buy a bottle or 3.Written March 19, 2025
- Anil J0 contributionsStrasbourg, a page out of a Fairy TaleOur next destination during our European Vacay was Strasbourg a quaint town on the Alsace which is called, the Christmas Capital of the world, and as our agenda to visit Strasbourg was in the winter during the Christmas season, there were dozens of holiday markets and fairs with food, drinks, handcrafted goods, and many decorated Christmas trees with twinkling lights around the town, hence this city has been named as the Christmas Capital of the world, Set on the Rhine, Strasbourg is one of the finest medieval towns in Northeast France. It's also one of the most photogenic places you can visit in Alsace. With its historical monuments and striking architectures and the city's finest building Notre-Dame Cathedral, which is definitely one of the best Cathedral i have ever seen. it was definitely a place worth the visit. We were staying at Hotel Vendome which was just opposite the Railway station, we had a very good view of this small quaint town. We enjoyed walking around this quaint town and the various holiday markets and fairs and trying the various types of food, cakes and delicious wines being sold at the fairs. It is definitely a must visit for Holiday makers traveling around France as its very close to Paris and especially for those traveling France during Christmas, Strasbourg is a must visit to enjoy the Christmas season.Written January 16, 2025
- Curiosity634309889130 contributionsThis Alsacian winery tour was the best!We visited three small wineries with fantastic wines and also had about an hour an half to explore and/or have lunch in the quaint town of Ribeauville, home of Trimbach Winery - fabulous Riesling if you can find a bottle. Our guide, Laurent, was great! She was very informative and did a wonderful job of coordinating all the locations and providing a stress free shipping option for any wine you purchased that day. A wonderful experience of Alsace. Visits of many typical villages but plenty of time to walk around. Also visit of a castle up in the Vosges mountains past the vineyards. Our guide was Thierry who was very knowledgeable, entertaining and had boundless energy. In small groups of max 8 but everyone sits very comfortably in the Mercedes minivan (air conditioned if necessary). If you have only one day to visit Alsace (outside Strasbourg) this is the tour for you and there are plenty of opportunities to sample the famous Alsatian wines in the villages where we stop. There is something for everyone in the family on this tour (note: not suitable for wheelchairs or someone who has difficulty walking because of the cobblestones and the occasional hill and stairs)

This day trip took us to Colmar, Eguisheim, Riquwihr medieval villages and culminated in a visit to the amazing castle of Haut Koenigsbourg. Every stop on this itinerary was fascinating and our guide Laurent was knowledgeable and gave us great insights into the history of the sites and interesting facts about them.
I thoroughly recommend the tour as a must for anyone visiting Strasbourg.

What a fabulous trip and I would definitely recommend. Our guide Pauline was so knowledgeable and gave us so much information about the Alsace region that we would never have found out ourselves. The trip itself was great and we loved seeing all the places we visited.... I'm sure we would never have found these ourselves. We loved Colmar so much that we booked a train and visited again during our holiday. Thanks Pauline as you were brilliant....on your recommendations, I now know that I love Malana's (traditional brioche bread shaped like a man!), Cremant....which is the same as champagne but cannot be called champagne and we had the best meal at the lovely and oldest restaurant in Strasbourg which again Pauline told us about - so thank you so much! If you are visiting Strasbourg....I would definitely recommend doing this trip.

We both wanted to like this tour, and wound up having to puzzle out what turned us off about it. We eventually decided it was the tour guide, which saddened us because he was clearly enamored with his adopted city of Strasbourg and surrounding areas, and excited to share.
Looking back, our favorite tours were ones where we were able to get to know others in a small group, and share the experiences with them. Most tour guides actively facilitate camaraderie by asking where everyone is from, what their names are, how long they’re staying, where they’ve been, where they’re going, then package up targeted recommendations for participants after a tour concludes. This was not that kind of experience. Our guide was bursting to tell us… EVERYTHING. He never stopped talking long enough for our group to even introduce ourselves to each other, or have any side conversations. We eventually opted to selectively ignore him to get to know others in the group.
Worse, he drove 30% under the speed limit. Other traffic was flying by going their typical 20% or more over the speed limit. It actually felt unsafe and stressful on the road. He also spent more time making eye contact with passengers in the rear of the van than he did looking at the road. This led to him weaving out of his lane and even onto the shoulder more than once, which is a feat for such a low speed. His style of driving was to mash the pedal, steer a bit, let off the pedal, repeat. All while talking through a headset that broadcasts to the back seats, once again ensuring no side conversations. We could have spent a lot more time at our destinations during our “free time” on the tour if we’d traveled faster than 45 in 70 zones.
The destinations were photo worthy, but really didn’t feel unique or special. Instead, it felt like we visited a series of “tourist traps” that seemed to exist solely to shuttle hordes of tourists like us through a conveyer belt of canned experiences.

We did this tour and it was an unforgettable experience. Our guide, Therry, was excellent: very friendly, professional and with impressive knowledge about the region. His way of explaining the history and details of each place made the tour very interesting and entertaining.
The itinerary was perfectly organized. Colmar is a charming place, full of colors and with impressive architecture. Medieval villages such as Eguisheim and Riquewihr seemed straight out of a fairy tale, and the visit to the castle was the golden snap, with spectacular views and a rich history.
We definitely recommend this tour for those who want to discover the beauty of Alsace in a comfortable and well-guided way. Thank you, Therry, for making this day so special!

The weather was unstable and blustery, but the tour was still a great experience. Colmar, Eguisheim, Riquewihr— all charming and beautiful. But the castle visit was particularly interesting, thanks largely to Laurent’s engaging, amusing, informative patter. New, comfortable vans; good, reliable, and clear communication with management; excellent guides. A great chance to see more of Alsace!

This is a must for anyone visiting the Alsace region. It goes from 9am to about 6pm, and although a full day, it’s SO worth it. Colmar, Eguisheim, Riquewihr and the koenigsburg castle are so beautiful; it was sad that this day had to end! Damien was an AMAZING guide, probably the best guide I’ve had so far in Europe, and he really made the trip special for us. Ask for Damien when you book this trip!! His passion for Alsace is oozing, his humour and storytelling make the trip even more fun, and his english is impeccable!
Definitely recommending this tour to my friends who are visiting Alsace. Also, because of this tour, I’ll be coming back to Alsace next year! What an absolutely beautiful region.

Really enjoyed exploring the outskirts of Strasbourg on this one day tour of the Alsace region. Robin our driver/guide was excellent - super friendly, humorous and very knowledgeable about local history. He showed us around Colmar and was a walking encyclopedia of medieval life at Chateau Koenigsbourg.
We drove to four spots - Colmar, Eguisheim, Riquewihr and Chateau Koenigsbourg. Favorite places were Eguisheim with its quaint fairytale houses and Chateau Koenigsbourg with its medieval rooms. Would not have been able to see all this on our own as they are quite spread out.
Really liked the group size too - only 6 people which gave us time to see more without needing to wait too long for others.
Highly recommend it!

An absolutely terrific day out - I’m so pleased we booked this. Magical little villages, and the most magnificent castle at the end of the trip. Thierry was a fantastic guide, enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable. We visited the castle at sunset and on a day when it sat above the clouds, resulting in breathtaking views from the top. Highly recommended. Craig and Jason

We couldn’t recommend this more highly! The day we went, the entire region was hit by an uncharacteristic snowstorm. It made for incredible winter scenes but a lot of logistical challenges for our tour guide Jerome. He handled it wonderfully, drove undoubtedly stressful, icy roads and made sure we all had a great time.
Despite the fact it still ended up being a pretty full day of sightseeing, the company nonetheless issued a partial refund without us asking — it was a very kind gesture that I think recommends them even further.
We can’t wait to take another tour someday, perhaps during sunny weather!
