Discover the diverse flavors of Saint-Emilion on this 5-hour small-group food and wine tour from Bordeaux. Explore the medieval streets of Saint-Emilion with your guide and gain insight into centuries of colorful French history. Visit wineries and cellars throughout the area, and sample wines made from grapes such as merlot and cabernet franc. Compare local wines with those from across the world at a Grand Cru winery, and learn to match local produce with your wine. Enjoy personalized attention from your local guide on this small-group tour, limited to eight people.
Highlights
  • Two guided wine tastings including a Grand Cru winery
  • Learn about French winemaking, ‘terroir’, and Bordeaux wine varietals
  • Personalized tour: small group limited to eight people
  • Hassle-free round-trip transport from Bordeaux
What to Expect
After pickup from central Bordeaux, set out on the scenic journey to Saint-Emilion, traveling by air-conditioned minivan. The first stop of the day is at a Grand Cru winery in the Saint Emilion wine region, where you’ll learn about the winemaking process, the importance of ‘terroir’, and the different ‘cru’ classifications of French wine on a guided winery tour. Once you’ve explored the vineyards, sample a selection of Bordeaux wines during an expert-led tasting. Next, visit the hilltop town of Saint-Emilion and enjoy a guided tour of the picturesque medieval village, perhaps stopping at some of its historic wine cellars. Before returning to Bordeaux, stop for another wine tasting at a family-run winery, and taste at least three different wines, accompanied by regional cheeses and cured meats. Your tour ends back in central Bordeaux.
