Versailles by Bike Day Tour

Overview

See the splendors of Versailles, inside and out, on this full-day tour from Paris. Hop aboard an RER train with your guide and head straight to the historic home of the French monarchy. Take a bike tour of the palace grounds, discover spots most visitors miss, and enjoy a picnic lunch (own expense) next to the Grand Canal. Then venture inside the palace for an in-depth audio tour.

What to Expect

Meet your guide in central Paris and embark on a journey to Versailles: included round-trip train tickets make it easy to travel on the RER. Upon arrival in Versailles, pick up your bicycle and other equipment, and set off on an in-depth tour.

Begin at a bustling village market, where you can pick up a baguette, cheeses, and other traditional French nibbles (own expense) for lunch. Before you eat, work up an appetite biking around the palace’s sprawling grounds. See the Grand and Petit Trianons, visit Marie Antoinette’s Hameau, and discover other corners that on-foot visitors would miss. After your ride, enjoy your picnic lunch next to the Grand Canal.

The tour continues with guaranteed entrance to the palace. With an audio tour accompaniment, explore the Hall of Mirrors, King’s State Apartments, and King’s Chapel at your own pace, and learn more about Versailles’ (literally) rich history.

Your day in Versailles ends when you board an RER train bound for Paris.

Must Do!

One of the best parts of our trip guarenteed. Rory was a phenomenal tour guide, bike repairman, keeper of stray cyclists and head counter. He was well informed with a great attitude that kept everyone entertained and in great spirits. Highly recommended!

Cannot recopmmend this tour enough. Our tour guide (Richard from Cambridge) was great!

We did this tour in July with our 8 and 10 year old kids. They LOVED it and so did we. The tour of the grounds with a helpful, English speaking, friendly guide was a great way to experience the grounds. Richard (our guide) was...More

A Wonderful Day!

The entire tour was a great experience and I would certainly recommend it. It is a great way to see the grounds, much more than we would have seen if we were on foot plus it kept our two sons (9 yrs and 13 yrs)...More

You can return via train at your leisure - you are just given tickets for the RER when the tour is over and you're entering the palace.

My folks (70) were on our trip. As others have said, if your mom can ride a bike with confidence, then it should not be a problem. The route is flat for the most part and the brief riding on streets was in town with very... More
