This tour was highly recommended to me by my sister in law who had taken the tour a month before in July. She said Toni was the best walking tour guide she had ever had ( she’s travelled a lot!) and she was right! He was knowledgeable and so entertaining, with an easy manner that put you at ease from the start. He asked everyone questions about where we were from and listened to any information we gave attentively and remembered it! Amazing! He must see so many people yet he made you feel like he was really interested in you. And so generous in his warmth and sincere friendliness. He doesn’t over load with dates from history which, personally, I tune out, yet he imparted lots of information for you to get a great sense of the city and it’s history. His anecdotes were based on his personal experiences and he shared stories he had heard first hand from family members. We went through secret passageways and he pointed out subtle details we would never have seen on our own. He was patient and considerate of all group members. He really brought alive the wonderful city of Lyon as his passion was obvious. And his recommendations were spot on! From where to eat and what to see. He even sent us ( within the hour) a text with all the recommendations he had made during the tour and extra ones for Avignon where we were due next. Fabulous! Would highly recommend.

This tour with Toni was so much more than we expected. Toni was very friendly and knowledgeable. He has a background in being a professional tour guide as well as being an interpreter. So his command of English and detailed knowledge of Lyon was superior.
He limited the number of people on the tour to ensure that it was a more intimate experience between the group. He also made sure the group all spoke the same language so that he did not have to repeat himself in another language while part of the group waited.
He asked questions of us to gage our interest in certain subject areas and also to find out what we had already done.
Time was allowed for the group to talk with each other so that we all got to know one another better and learned off of each other.
Toni had access to some hidden gems in the city. It felt like we were going back in time as we wandered through old passage ways and admired private places, once traversed by kings, wealthy aristocrats and notable historical figures like Nostradamus.
After the tour, Toni hung out with us at a pub and we were able to get to know him even better. His tips and knowledge continued through the evening and we felt like he genuinely enjoyed what he was doing and wanted us to have a great time.
We hope our paths may cross again soon. Thanks, Toni!!

Do this tour on your first day and you will get so much more from your visit to Lyon. Toni is a wonderful guide, sharing his knowledge of the history and people of Lyon with humour and ease, showing you places you would never find on your own but which all feed in to understanding how the city has developed over the centuries. The fact that he managed to keep 65plus year olds and a 35yr old, engaged and entertained for 3+ hours, much of it in the pouring rain, is testament to his experience and personality. Thank you Toni for sharing your time with us in this way. Oh, and having had the greenery of the Parc de la Tête D'Or pointed out to us from under our umbrellas, we spent a very happy time there when the sun did shine. What a great parc to have in France's second city: red squirrels and giraffes were an unexpected addition to our city visit!

I came away from this walking tour with meaningful information and stories planted in my memory- that is a testament to Toni's excellent guiding and storytelling skills. This tour is great value for money, we saw so much and learnt a lot but it also felt relaxed and fun. We also received a message with tips for Lyon and further afield in France (where I was going next) which is excellent customer service and a kind gesture from Toni! So glad I took this tour!

I booked this tour because I wanted it as a present to my two friends who recently got married. And I should honestly say, I am so happy and satisfied that I did. The tour was the type that I wanted. We had a small group with a personal touch. This is the type of tour that you don´t get rushed on things. You were allowed to ask questions and if you need to take some pictures of the sights, go to the washroom and or a bit slow walking, you wouldn´t think you are being hurried. As a matter of fact, Toni extended a bit of his time showing us special routes to take, telling us more secrets of Lyon and most of all pointing us to the most popular and authentic restaurant to experience Lyon dining, Bouchon at its best! Thank you so much and more power to you! I will gladly refer my friends to you if they plan on visiting Lyon!

Our guide, Toni, was amazing! We received directions the evening before our tour to remind us where to meet him, including very specific details on what he would be wearing so that we could spot and connect with him immediately. Right off the bat, he made a good impression on us as he rattled off the names of everyone who had registered for the tour. Throughout the morning, Toni proudly showed us around Lyon and shared so much knowledge and history with us. He was fun, entertaining, engaging, and a true ambassador for this lovely city. We especially enjoyed when he showed us several of the hidden tunnels (called Traboules) that were originally used to transport silk between businesses and manufacturing sites (and later used to move people around unseen during the Nazi occupation) and how he further highlighted their importance with personal stories from his family. Toni was so easy to be with throughout the day and before finishing the tour, he made sure that we all had plenty of recommendations for good restaurants, traditional bouchons, and places to visit while we were in Lyon. Our tour with him was one of our favorite parts of our trip to Lyon and Avignon over a long holiday weekend.

The small group size and energy that Toni brought to the tour was excellent. Toni was engaging, he tuned the tour to the groups diverse interests and took time to connect with everyone. Lyon came alive under his insights, knowledge and quick wit
After the tour we received an email from Maud (his Wife) following up with recommended sights , and. eateries. Most excellent!

We strongly recommend Maud and Toni's tour. The communication was clear and useful, the value was excellent, and the tour itself was a wonderful way to learn about Lyon's history and culture. The tour groups are small, so Toni is able to give personal attention and recommendations to each person or family. Toni had lots of great stories about Lyon and France, and it was obvious that helping other people get to know his city is a passion for him. We'd recommend this tour to anyone, especially those in Lyon for the first time who are looking to get an entertaining and friendly introduction to the city!

We had a great experience with this tour. It started with a text from Maud to welcome us the day of the tour and providing some details on where to meet and let us know how to recognize our tour guide: Toni.
The text was very friendly and helpful.
Toni was great and made this 3hr walking tour very enjoyable. We did not see the time passing by.
The mix of historical details and fun facts was just right and while we learned about the city through the ages, we also discovered what makes Lyon so special.
Toni was very pleasant to listen to and spent extra time to recommend different places to check out.
Thank you Toni and Maud.

Tour guide Tony was very nice and very knowledgeable about the history of Lyon and you could tell he really loved the city and the history and everything that goes along with it. He also gave us great tips for places to eat dinner and also the local Lyon food and wine scene. Everything he recommended were fantastic.!

We would like to do this tour but have some luggage. Is there somewhere we could store it?
Written April 8, 2022
Hi, I would love to take the tour on the 14th of April at 3pm but it seems that it's already fully booked. Is there any flexibility around this as I don't think I can make the 10am tour?
Written April 5, 2022
That question must be sent to the tour guides!

You should put the question to the organisers as it may change with the season of the year ... - but as long as I remember, that information is answered on the Tripadvisor announcement.

Bonjour,
