Start Your Lyon Visit with this Food Tour
This was the BEST food tour I’ve been on! Nathalie mixed local history into our food tour and was very friendly. Each stop represented the unique foods of Lyon, but she made the experience like a story filled with anticipation and satisfaction! The food was phenomenal and she followed up with suggestions for can’t miss places and great restaurants. You won’t be disappointed if you book this tour. So glad we did this our first night in Lyon.

      Excellent!!
From start to finish, this tour was one of the best I’ve been on. Nathalie was so friendly and knowledgeable and I loved how she incorporated lyon’s history into the tour. The dishes were phenomenal, and I really appreciated that I had a mocktail option since I do not drink. She even walked us and gave us directions back to our hotel and send us so many recommendations for the rest of our stay. We had such a great time, this was perfect for our first day in Lyon.

      Elisabetta was great!
Elisabetta was the best tour guide! She was very knowledgeable and personalized the tour to our interests. We learned a lot about local culture and She also gave us many tips to make our stay at Lyon more enjoyable. The food and wine was excellent as well.

      Exceptional experience
Our food tour with Tone was exceptional! First time experience and would love to do it again. Great information on the history of the food in the area and the selection of foods to try were well picked. Really enjoyed it, would highly recommend to anyone visiting Lyon.

      Great first experience of lyon
Our tour guide, Elisabetta, was amazing. She told us everything about the history of the town and the food. We enjoyed walking around the old town and visiting various local food businesses.

Great way to tour Lyon with a local.
Enjoyable way to tour Lyon. Our tour guide Isabette was excellent and shared her passion for local food with us. Going through two secret passageways was a bonus as was the cheese restaurant.

      Lovely experience, super guide
Really enjoyed this food tour, trying delicious, authentic local cuisine and at the same time learning about the unique history of the charming Lyon old town. Meandering alleys and secret passages, our knowledgeable guide Elizabetta was very considered in her selection of places visited - be it a fromagerie, bouchon or bar. She made this tour and Lyon a lovely experience. Appreciate her extra pointers too about what to look for in Lyon.

      Well worth investing the time.
Nathalie was keen and knowledgeable, not only about the food history but the cultural and historical evolution of Lyon. Good to spend time with her Unfortunately and frustratingly I can’t synthesise languages, but Nathalie coped brilliantly and translated for me to understand Personally, even though the chocolate were all creative works of genius I would have preferred more charcuterie. But that may well be a male thing! The sweets (which seems an insult with the poor standard of sweets in the UK) were a pleasantly surprising taste explosion. Quite extraordinary and a culinary delight Tour worth attending on many levels

      A most enjoyable gastronomic tour
Toné, our guide, was very knowledgeable and personable. His aim was to ensure that everyone in the group enjoyed the tour - we were all part of his team. We learned a lot about Lyon’s culinary traditions, both from Toné himself and from enthusiastic local ‘producers’ whose food we sampled. After the tour Toné kindly sent us a list of personal recommendations covering everything from coffee shops and bakeries to lunch, brunch and dinner venues. We heartily recommend this tour.

      Amazing Tour Amazing Guide
The tour was awesome and I truly believe it was due to our guide Nathalie who was informative, knowledgeable and professional. We were provided an assortment of cheeses, meats, wine and dinner while Nathalie explained where the food came from and how it was related historically to Lyon. She did an amazing job considering we didn’t speak very little French. Well done Madame. Highly recommend this tour with Nathalie.

      Unique insight to Lyon
This food tour is a must when visiting Lyon. Our guide , Tone, was wonderful. He has a real passion for Lyon, its people and it’s food , as did the artisans that we visited . Tone was funny, full of interesting facts and stories and the evening flew by. This is a great way to familiarise yourself with the old town and gain a unique insight into the people , history and food of Lyon .

Great food, excellent tour guide, top tastings
We love a good food tour and this tour was top notch. It’s hard to go wrong with Lyon’s food - but we also learned so much. Why are the restaurants called bouchon? Find out. Went to some really good places- the cheese was excellent. Our sausage stop was great- the proprietor is a hoot. We got wine at all stops and there were reserved tables for us. We were paired with a group of colleagues and we all had a ball. We loved Toné! He’s the best guide I’ve ever had the pleasure to tour with.

      Must book food tour!!!
The tour was fantastic and Toné was very knowledgeable. Every place we visited brought something special to the tour and Toné elevated the experience at every stop with his local knowledge and the history of the food in Lyon. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to enjoy the food of Lyon and learn a little bit along the way.

Nathalie was amazing! I went with my mom and we had the best time walking around the city as well as tasting all of the delicious food. It is a great way to discover places we would have never found ourselves. Our guide was so knowledgeable and fun, I feel like I learned so much.

We had a great time on the tour, it was very interesting with many small details about the city's history. All of the stores we visited were very welcoming and had great products - we bought gifts for all our friends a d family. We highly recommend to anyone visiting the city who wants the real cultural experience.

What a wonderevening exploring the old city with Elisbetta’s guidance. She had everything planned out and each stop we made led up to a lovely Meal in a nice family owned restaurant that was a packed with locals and a very picturesque cellar. We had tastes from different shops and even a night cap before ending the tour. I highly recommend to small groups or families who want to experience the tastes of Lyon.

We enjoyed our food tour of Lyon. We were glad of the email received the day before, it was clear who we were to meet and where. Our guide, Baptiste, explained the tour well and provided clear translations in the venues. Our first stop was at a shop specialising in syrups and local sausages. We had a lovely time sampling in the cellar “bistro” and had some very drinkable local vino. The next venue was a bouchon, ( local style eatery) . Here we had quenelle a local specialty which was delicious. However, we knew we were going to another 3 places so I decided against completing the dish. On reflection I could have eaten it all as the next places were not full on eating experience. A number of those on the tour were unsure of the quantity we would have and were concerned that eating all of the quenelle would spoil the rest of the trip. However, it isa well balance trip so all could have been eaten without worry.
We went to a sweet shop next and sampled a few local style sweets. Personally this was not something I particularly enjoyed as I found the sweets too sweet, others seemed to enjoy it and we had a lovely walk seeing more things on route.
After this we did more general touring with Baptiste, he was quite knowledgeable and was interested in what her was doing.
However as the day went on he galloped ahead of the tour and we had to work hard to keep up. Having said that I’m not sure if anyone asked him to slow down, but really he should have been aware that everyone was trailing far behind. He showed us some of the traditional style buildings and gave history on them and introduced us to the wonders of the traboules of Lyon. We then had some brioche and sat down outside the law courts to eat them ( or save them for later) while Baptiste told us more. Our final stop was at a lemoncello shop - well actually citron based food and drinks.
I would recommend the tour as a great introduction to the city and culture especially if you have limited time in Lyon.

We try to do a good tour in every city we visit, and we had high expectations for Lyon. It is, after all, the food capitol of France. And maybe we just were unlucky, but we really didn’t get our money’s worth from this tour. First, we learned very little history. Our tour was composed primarily of silent death marches from site to site, punctuated with a smattering of facts immediately followed by periods of more awkward silence as we stared at walls or in windows and wondered what we were meant to be doing. The food was also very disappointing. The first 2 stops were excellent but everything beyond was a waste. We silently ate brioche while looking across the river and then crossed the road to a bog-standard ice cream stand with zero history or reason to be included in a food tour we’re paying premium for. The worst was the last stop - to a limoncello stand for our “digestif” which involved medicine cups of free samples available to literally anyone walking into the shop. Why limoncello? This isn’t Lyonnais! And why did a food tour we paid for think this was a good way to end things? Though annoyed, we were grateful to finally be able to take our leave. Boring, uninspired, irrelevant and a waste of time and money.

Hands down the best tour we've ever been on, besting some great ones in New Orleans, Pompeii, Paris, etc. Nathalie knows how to entertain her group and keep things simple yet extremely informative, with unique stops on the tour with veteran local establishments, hidden traboules, and tips that you won't find on your own. The food tastings were absolutely incredible, we learned a ton about old Lyon, and got set up for the rest of our week of adventuring on our own in this great city. Thank you Nathalie!!!

Our food tour of Lyon with Toné was amazing! It was filled with delicious food of course but also information about the history of the area and of the food we were eating, and Toné's personal stories and experiences that connected him to the food and the city. We went on our first day in Lyon which was perfect to get the lay of the land, but also to recieve a comprehensive message from Toné with all of his recommendations of where to eat during the rest of our stay.

This was great food tour with Tone from Mexico City. He gave great historical and food background information all through the tour. First stop was at Pralyon restaurant for hors d'oeuvres- salami, cheese, pressed meats, lettuce, bread and red wine. Second stop was at E. Chabert- the main meal- traditional quenelle (a fish roll with breading and cheese sauce on top- delicious. Third stop was at a fountain in which the tour guide gave us all a brioche with pink pralines that he made for us all. Then we went to Aupays du citron for lemoncello, lime cello, etc- refreshing. We finished with fancy chocolates. Great commentary by the guide in a great cuisine city.

Natalie was such a great guide, loves her food and is passionate about it.
We had a great group, learnt about some of the history, and enjoyed a great sampling of different food.
We also took two kids with us 5 & 8 and Natalie did a great job in including them in the experience too. They loved it and enjoyed the food.
Nat left us with some excellent recommendations post the guided tour including special tips for the food market the next day. Absolutely loved our time in Lyon and would highly recommend doing this tour at the start of your trip as it's a great way to get your bearings and discover the hidden gems Lyon has to offer. Thanks again Natalie.

Baptiste gave us an incredible tour. Most tour companies would cancel if only two people booked, but they let us take the tour all the same. The food was delicious, of course, but Baptiste went out of his way to show us interesting architecture and tell us about the history of the city when we said we were interested in it. All around a great experience in a lovely city.
