Overview
The monuments and alpine scenery of Salzburg's UNESCO World Heritage Site lie just over the border from Munich in Bavaria. This tour ensures you maximize your time with round-trip transport by train, a guided walking tour of the city, and plenty of free time for shopping and sightseeing.
What to Expect
Meet your guide and up to 15 people at Munich’s Central Train Station. Then travel aboard an air-conditioned train, enjoying views of the Bavarian Alps and Austrian countryside on a 2-hour journey to Salzburg.

On a 1.5-hour walking tour, listen to your guide’s comprehensive introduction to the city. Discover Old Town, a UNESCO-listed site; admire historic landmarks, such as the Domkirche Cathedral and the Hohensalzburg Fortress (Festung Hohensalzburg); and learn more about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who was born in Salzburg, and The Sound of Music, which was filmed in and around the city.

After the tour, spend around three hours exploring independently. Stroll around Old Town’s medieval lanes and browse the shops for souvenirs, sample traditional Austrian cuisine with lunch at a local restaurant (own expense), visit Mirabell Palace, or climb the hilltop to take in the views from the castle.

Your tour ends back at the Munich train station.

Great tour and wonderful city

We recently did a tour with Radius to Salzburg with four of us (two adults, two children) and had a great time. You take the train down (about 90-120 minutes if no delays) and then ~ 120 minute walking tour of the city. You then...More

Wish I had a mulligan.

The tour was okay...not bad. But, if I could do it again I would go down on the train myself and spend the entire day in Salzburg. The guide was hard to hear on the train and once we were in Salzburg it was hard...More

The train ticket is covered in the 49 Euros paid. You need to contact the firm to find out the numbers. This is TripAdvisor I've done it twice and it appeared like they had the maximum numbers. Good luck

Hi. Depending on the tour guide it's usually about 7pm. The schedule will be explained when you meet the guide. The train journey alone is worth the money. The views are spectacular.

I believe you can. During the tour we had the option to stay overnight at our own expense.
