Munich 3-Hour Third Reich History Walking Tour

Select Date and Travellers
2 travellers
On this 3-hour walking tour you’ll be able to examine the infamous streets where some of the darkest stories of human history took root and grew into Hitler’s dictatorship.
  • Explore Munich on foot and get firsthand views of Third Reich sites
  • Hear stories about wartime Munich and its people, delivered by a local guide
  • Learn about key events and the sites where they happened
  • Start and finish your tour in Marienplatz, an easy-to-find Munich location
What to Expect
Head to Marienplatz to meet your tour guide and then set off to discover Munich’s wartime sites with your group. As stories of Munich’s history and the era of the Nazi-ruled Third Reich ring in your ears, discover key landmarks, such as the Führerbau building in Königsplatz. See Brienner Strasse, the street that was believed to be heavily linked to the rise of the Nazi party, and learn about the Allied bombs that rained down on the beautiful Bavarian city. Other sites of interest include the art-laden Haus der Kunst and the one-time Gestapo head office, where Hitler’s fearsome secret police worked. Get the lowdown on the resistance and postwar movements, and learn about vergangenheitsbewältigung, a word that translates into English as “overcoming the past.” Finally, return to Marienplatz for the end of the tour.

Good look into how Hitler came to power. Interesting to see some of the buildings where it happened. Knowledgeable guide who was responsive to questions and had additional support materials on tablet that he used to expand the narrative.

Chris toured us around and obviously knows his history. We visited many important historical sites some of which exist as they did in the past (Königsplatz), some which have been restored (Hofbräuhaus), and some replaced (Wittelsbacher Palais, ie Gestapo Headquarters). It's easy walking and a...More

Chris took us around the main places of interest- he had outstanding knowledge and a fab sense of humour - the tour passed too quickly as there was so much to hear about. Highly recommended !

There is a lot of walking but it isn’t strenuous and is fairly level. The stops usually last at least a few minutes. My guide was great in making sure people could catch up.
