Small-Group Medieval Villages Day Trip from Barcelona
From US$105.13

Discover the history hidden in the medieval, countryside villages surrounding Barcelona during this full-day, guided, small-group tour with transportation included. Visit an ancient Jewish bath and medieval synagogue in Besalú; see castle ruins and the baroque church of Sant Miquel in Rupit, and savor Catalan cuisine over lunch (own expense). End the day 900-metres above sea-level taking in the view from the sandstone cliffs in Cingles de Tavartet.

What to Expect

Meet your guide at 8:30am, board an air-conditioned minivan for a full-day tour of the medieval villages surrounding Barcelona. After a 1.5-hour drive through the countryside, arrive in the village of Besalú to explore the history and architecture on foot. See the 12th-century Jewish bath and visit the medieval synagogue. Carry on to Castellfollit de la Roca, where you’ll find a tiny, 3,280-square-foot town inhabited by 1,000 people and perched on the edge of a basalt cliff. Next, stop in Rupit to wander the stone streets and snap photos of the 16th-century homes, the baroque-era Church of Sant Miquel, and cross a hanging wooden bridge before a local lunch (your expense). Stand on the sandstone cliffs at Cingles de Tavertet overlooking the Ter River Valley and visit the town’s 16th and 17th-century preserved homes and 11th-century Church of Sant Cristòfol before returning to the departure point in Barcelona.

The meeting place is right next to the music palace. I suggest take the train from drassane and get off at urquinaona. You might have to change stations. Download Citymapper app. Enjoy!!
