Upon arrival, visit the Monastery, which was founded in the 10th century and still functions to this day, with over 150 monks. It is also well-known for hosting the figure of La Moreneta (visit not guaranteed), who is the patron saint of Catalonia.

Next, descend by the Montserrat Cable Car enjoying the beautiful views on the way to a nearby equestrian center located at the foothill of the Massif. Get ready for a thrilling horseback ride along the Natural Park, offering breathtaking views of Montserrat. All while enjoying the freedom and tranquility of the countryside. Lead by experienced guides, the route is suitable for everyone. Enjoy the ride and the spectacular sight of the mountain!

What to Expect
Meet your guide in central Barcelona and settle inside a climate-controlled vehicle destined for Montserrat, a Benedictine monastery located on Montserrat mountain. En route, admire the mountain’s needle-shaped peaks and hear how the monastery, founded in the 10th century, still functions with more than 150 monks. Hear, too, about its revered La Moreneta (little dark one), a wooden carving of the Virgin Mary that draws flocks of pilgrims. On arrival, see the abbey’s highlights, including the basilica and its statue, and learn about their history. Then, enjoy a scenic cable car ride down the mountain. Finally, set off behind a guide on a countryside horseback ride. Soak in the stunning mountain scenery as you cross fields and woods, and ride at a pace suitable for all skill levels. Your trip then finishes at the original Barcelona starting point.

Absolutely not. The ranch owner was very strict about what he would allow people to do. It’s single file walking all the way.

Generally speaking, a rider with their own weight, and the weight of the tack (saddles) should be 20% of the horses’ body weight. Most horses at that ranch, from my experience weigh between 1000-1150 pounds. Hope this helps.
